Beautiful sandstone estates, forest feels and mountain living. Starting at the lofty Fern Tree Village, we'll view the map and detail the hiking trails for the day. We head off along the Pipe-Line trail with our first stop being Silver Falls. A pleasant cascade and part of Hobart's historic water catchment system - which you will learn all about from your local guide. After around 45-minutes on the trail, we arrive at 'The Springs'. The recreational hub on the mountain. Most of the hiking trails crossing the eastern face depart from here. We fuel up with a morning coffee or hot drink from the lovely Lost Freight Cafe. Next up, we head off along the Pinnacle trail - the original track early explorers used to summit the mountain. Grand views will start to appear over the city as the forest begins to decrease in height and the geology changes! The Zig-Zag trail is our final track for the day. Here we make our way up a steep section with extensive views of the rocky mountain slopes Pass by a recent boulder fall - a reminder that the landscape is still changing! Arriving at the summit we stand atop the trig point - 1,272m high! Spend time at the 4 lookout points overlooking the waterways around Hobart. Depart the summit with a drive down to the city. Arriving between 12:30-1pm.
