24.01.2022 Back to work this week. Thinking of those children & parents starting school this year, wishing us all well transitioning! I had the joy of starting Project IMPACT with a family this week. I am so excited to work with parents improving their confidence in communicating, playing and connecting with their children. Project IMPACT is suitable for parents of children experiencing any differences or delays in social and communication skills. It is a NDBI (empirically supported) program and can be done in isolation or with parents of children receiving individual therapy. It does not replace therapy hours but will assist children to generalise skills & provide many more opportunities for learning on a daily basis in the home environment. Get in touch if you'd like to know more https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4513196/

22.01.2022 Project ImPACT is appropriate for parents of children showing any signs of social or communication difficulties. It has been developed for younger children but may be applicable to older children still showing difficulties in these areas. Engaging & teaching your child is not magic, there's skills therapists use that you can easily learn too! If you'd like to read more about this program there's a great summary from Sue's Blog below. Thanks so much to Sue from One on One Chil...dren's, who brought this training to us at an Australian time. After having our in person workshop postponed due to Covid earlier this year, I can honestly say it was worth the wait! I can't wait to empower more parents to be effectively engaging & teaching their children skills in their own homes. https://www.oneononechildren.com.au/project-impact.../ . . . #ProjectImPACT #occupationaltherapy #newcastlekids #seechangetherapy #communication #parentskills

16.01.2022 We've been doing some training at SeeChange Therapy in the SCERTs Model. It's been useful to consider what level our kids are at in regards to being communication partners & what supports are most appropriate to use. It's a great framework providing a curriculum to scaffold emotional regulation strategies, so we can ensure our kids are ready for learning! Check out Amy's Blog post if you're interested in learning more about SCERTs & emotional regulation. https://www.medbridgeeducation.com//scerts-emotional-reg/
