25.01.2022 Michelle loved facilitating the Parkes workshop on Self Regulation. It can be hard to take the time away from work and life to commit to learning but when you do it can be so worth it! A room full of engaged, wonderful people. Michelle received excellent feedback. We will keep you posted on our 2020 workshop schedule.

25.01.2022 When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight Khalil Gibran. We are heartbroken over the unfathomable devastation and loss caused by the NSW and VIC bushfires and drought. The bushland will regenerate, communities will rebuild, people will come together and it will eventually rain. We thank all the firefighters at the front of this, fighting for our beautiful country. We are open as of tomorrow.

24.01.2022 We are open! It was a roller coaster of an experience, however we are incredibly proud of everyones ability to lean into the changes asked of them. A potent reminder of what is important, a lesson in perspective and an opportunity to discover working in new ways

24.01.2022 This morning we met as a team to discuss our ongoing response to COVID-19. We universally agreed to close the clinic until Monday 30th March. We believe that as an organisation and team of individuals we have a responsibility to minimise the spread of the virus. Our highest priority is the health and wellbeing of our therapists, children, families and the community. What we do know is that no one in our extended community have tested positive for COVID-19. That is therapists..., children and their families who attend the clinic. What we dont know, is the number of current infections in our local community given the incubation period of the virus and the lag in test results. Experts suggest that we are likely to contain the spread of the virus if we collectively practice social distancing immediately. The very goal of our intervention centres around relationship, trust and play. The essence of our treatment is lost to the precautions necessary to slow the spread of the virus. We will be training our team to deliver online therapeutic services to continue to remain connected to our children and their families. We recognise the fear and uncertainty experienced by our children and families at this time and we share in this experience. Whilst we are unable to fix this, we can listen, hold space and support you in managing this in the home environment whilst working on your therapeutic goals. More information about telehealth services will be provided soon. We are hopeful that we will be available in the clinic, very soon. We look forward to seeing you again on Monday 30th March. Please email or call Sarah on: E: [email protected] P: 6363 1870 with any questions or concerns.

23.01.2022 "Emotion and learning are completely connected" Relationships matter more than rules, boundaries are important however connection is key.

23.01.2022 Overnight the World Health Organisation declared the Coronavirus (COVID-19) a pandemic, we are closely reviewing all information being released by NSW Health and are taking extra precautions in our clinic to protect our children and their families. We understand your concerns and would like to keep you informed of the steps we are taking to be responsive to these concerns. What SEED will be doing:... 1. We are asking our families to please cancel your appointment if your child or you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19. These symptoms include; runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever and difficulty breathing. 2. In addition we ask that you please cancel your appointment if you have a family member or anyone you have been in contact with in quarantine for testing. 3. We will not be using oral motor tools during our treatment sessions. 4. We will ask that our clinicians and children wash their hands prior to the treatment session and after going to the bathroom. 5. Tissues will be available in each treatment room. 6. We will wipe down and clean surfaces with disinfectant between treatment sessions. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sarah on [email protected] or (02) 6363 1870. 23.01.2022 SEED is moving to the Bloomfield Medical Centre! As many of you now know, we willl be moving soon. As soon as we know exact dates, we will inform you. This fits with our vision of creating a whole child centre, with clinical specialists from a range of disciplines. We cant wait for this next chapter. Here are some pics of the progress

23.01.2022 I hope you had a chance to switch off the news, disconnect from social media and savour time outside this weekend. This will be our first week delivering an online service to the children and families we work with, we are feeling excited at the opportunity, yet vulnerable as we try on a new way of doing things. I am incredibly proud of our teams willingness and ability to adapt so quickly, their ability to see this as a time of growth. We cant wait to see you and your child this week. Stay safe, be well

22.01.2022 To my amazing Mum, to Michelle, Toni and Kylie, to all of the beautiful Mum’s we work with, to those who are in the role of a Mum, to my lovely friends who are Mum’s and to those who are desperately dreaming of becoming a Mum. Today is for you

21.01.2022 Be gentle on yourself and others

20.01.2022 Are you coming to Chaos to Calm in Parkes next Friday? The topic we will be discussing here is supporting self regulation in our children and the role of connection and co regulation in discipline. Click the link below for more info! Some lovely comments from previous workshops include: I found, as a grandparent/part time carer, the sessions were truly amazing. It helped me understand a lot of behaviour issues that I try to understand and reflect on that information to use... the tools to avoid and handle meltdowns For a start it was so emotional to hear how his body and mind works and to walk a mile in his shoes. I didnt think I could love him more or be more compassionate towards him, but I do and am. I have always thought I was totally understanding of him but this course has given me a lift in myself to be able to be the best I can for him and to bring out the best in him

20.01.2022 Happy Happy Birthday Georgie! Wishing you a wonderful day, we look forward to celebrating with you after your time away. With love, the team at SEED x

19.01.2022 Were open! Although we have closed our direct clinic services, we are creating space for a new way of delivering on our vision. We are leaning into the changes being asked of us and we cant wait to share this with you. Delivering world class Paediatric OT services in the safest way possible remains our vision. Take care everyone x

19.01.2022 We are back from our social media break and hope you enjoyed some downtime with people you love! Validation and connection is the first step in regulating and reasoning with, dropping our defences is difficult but important.

19.01.2022 We welcome you to our online service delivery. Now more than ever, we understand the importance of feeling connected and supported. Our current families, please check your emails for further information. Our families on break, we will be in touch this week. Our families on the waitlist, we will be in touch next week.... Here are thoughts from a parent on remote consultation: Linking up via video was very easy. I received an email from Seed with a link that installed the video-conferencing software and automatically invited me to the conference. Prior to our session, Michelle emailed a list of activities for my son and stepped me through each of these in our session. She was able to demonstrate techniques on another staff member if I wasnt sure how to do something, or observe me doing an activity with my son to provide feedback. Michelle was able to provide lots of simple ways to incorporate her OT goals through play, which I know will make it fun and easy for me to do with my family. Im guessing I will probably have questions as I start to try some of these activities myself so its good to know that I can contact Michelle via telephone or email and/or arrange another video session if required. I think an occasional brief video chat might serve as a nice way for my son to stay connected to Michelle in the months ahead too. Well done to Seed for offering innovative alternatives in these challenging times. Im not going to have Michelles OT finesse, but at least I feel confident about doing some things to maintain my sons therapy goals.

18.01.2022 Michelle and Cory in collaboration with our much loved mentor, Tracy Stackhouse from Developmental Fx are excited to record their first podcast! This is the combination of months of hard work and collaboration. It is for passionate Paediatric OT’s looking to deepen their clinical reasoning however is worth a listen if you’re a parent or work with a child with developmental differences. Follow @spiritedconversations_podcast on Instagram for all updates. Stay tuned for the launch

17.01.2022 We are open! It was a roller coaster of an experience, however we are incredibly proud of everyone’s ability to lean into the changes asked of them. A potent reminder of what is important, a lesson in perspective and an opportunity to discover working in new ways

16.01.2022 It is with the greatest joy that we open our doors at Bloomfield Medical Centre - Orange this morning Our team worked tirelessly on Friday and over the weekend to ensure this was a smooth transition. We truly have the best team, a big thank you to everyone

14.01.2022 The NDIS have introduced some changes in response to COVID-19

13.01.2022 What helps children to stay calm and what causes breakdowns in this capacity? Maude LeRous is an expert OT and DIR- Floortime clinician who discusses regulatory challenges in this interview.

12.01.2022 For parents/Carers: Children react, in part on what they see from the adults around them. When parents and caregivers deal with COVID-19 calmly and confidently, they can provide the best support for their children. Parents can be reassuring to others around them, especially children if they are better prepared. Not all children respond to stress in the same way. Some common changes to watch for include; excessive crying or irritation, returning to behaviours they have outgrow...n for example toileting accidents, excessive worry or sadness, difficulty with attention and concentration, interrupted sleep. As Paediatric Occupational Therapists, we are in a unique position to help you navigate this. We are here to support you, to support your child and family. Please call Toni (02) 6363 1870 for details. Stay safe, be well and keep smiling x

12.01.2022 Friday week ago, we farewelled the wonderful Georgie! Georgie is moving to the Central Coast in 2020 and is enjoying a holiday in New Zealand (I am glad to report, she is safe). We have loved having you on our team Georgie, you are practical, grounded and have a strong work ethic. We wish you all the best in your next role. Thank you and we look forward to staying in touch x

12.01.2022 Sarah is honoured to be joining Kim Barthel and her team in Sri Lanka in October to assist in the delivery of this workshop! We have admired Kims work for a long time, her attitude and output of meaningful, quality work we deeply respect and were thrilled to be a part of this! So excited! If you have the opportunity to attend the Decoding Autism Workshop in Sydney or Melbourne, we strongly encourage you to do so!

09.01.2022 Last week Georgie attended the DIR Floortime conference in Melbourne and this week Annabel will also be attending. Floortime is an authentic, play based approach to developing social emotional capacities in the children we work with. As Paediatric OTs we spend time developing our knowledge, growing and learning from leaders in the industry so that we can share this with you. Thank you for hosting Sensory Connections x

05.01.2022 This service was recently shared with us. It fills a very important gap of supporting families to navigate the NDIS system, including self managing funds and advocating for the best outcome.

04.01.2022 On Thursday we celebrated Tonis 5th work anniversary! Toni is amazing, generous with her time and humble. Toni is the master of getting things done and brings a level of organisation to our lives, which we are incredibly grateful for. Thank you

04.01.2022 Sarah is just back from a week in Sri Lanka where she was lucky enough to work with one of our mentors and leading international clinicians, Kim Barthel alongside Loganathan Gurusamy and Michelle Cheung. It was such an incredible experience, with so many things that I could share however what was most obvious, is that partnership is our greatest resource. When we choose to go it alone in these emerging times, we are most certainly better together.

04.01.2022 Thanks Michelle for letting us know about this event for parents. These webinars will help parents outline strategies that help nurture resilience, maintain positive relationships, resolve conflicts, build family networks and more..https://peersupport.edu.au/our-programs/external-events/
