21.01.2022 One of our favourite programs!

19.01.2022 Absolutely! Our program is loved by teachers and students alike. We have adapted to Covid-19 conditions in collaboration with our schools and the first week back last week, was filled with very happy children excited to be learning outdoors once again!

18.01.2022 We were treated to a visit from Lee Carr today. We learned about #indigenous land management, native plant food and medicine, firestick farming, how to make rope, and the importance of #respect, #responsibility and #reciprocity. You can contact her through www.wiradjuri-mabun.com.au #nurturefreshthinking #seedharvestspoon #indigenouseducation #natureismedicine #lovewhereyoulearn

18.01.2022 So excited and grateful for this package that arrived this morning from the wonderful team at Green Harvest Organic Gardening Supplies. These will be used across our schools and early childhood groups in our outdoor garden classrooms. Thankyou for your support, we feel very proud to be a recipient of these amazing organic seeds. I feel a maths lesson in the garden relating to germination rates and percentages is coming soon .... #greenharvest

18.01.2022 We have been very busy with the last term of 2019. For the past two days we have been at #YES at #Olympic Park where we ran 8 workshops teaching children about plants by making flatbreads that included leaves from edible plants. Lots of very engaged children who loved the flat breads infused with edible leaves and flowers, brushed with garlic oil and served with Leonies beetroot dip! #ourladyoftheway #crestwoodpublicschool #meadowbankpublicschool #Stlukescatholiccollege #ourladyofangelsrousehill #trinityprimaryschool

16.01.2022 So very, very important for physical and mental health, brain development and instilling a respect for nature, Aboriginal culture and all things around us.

16.01.2022 Happy Mid-Year Holidays Everyone! Welcome on board our new CEO Eleanor Dennis! This is the second bumper harvest Term 2 at Riverwood PS it was so good to see so many families leaving for school holidays last week with a bunch of produce and some for the staff as well! Kale, rocket, lettuce, spring onions, broccoli, bok choy, celery, coriander, chard, parsley, sage! And the beds are still full! We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Eleanor Dennis as our first CEO wh...o will lead and grow SHS so that we can increase our reach to more communities and schools, building teachers' confidence in taking kids outdoors to learn. Eleanor's wealth of experience and work for other garden and health-related NFPs connects us directly with a network of organisations that we look forward to working alongside in achieving a shared mission of a sustainable approach to growing and sharing food. 14.01.2022 We're back at school, but we haven't forgotten all the fun we had during the school holidays!! Highlights from last week: * Dug into more planting and potting... * Challenged our coordination and jumping skills * Stepped back into Australian history with a well-travelled cat * Defended ourselves with lightning fast Kung Fu skills * Got active with ball games and teamwork! #schoolholidays #backtoschool #grateful #rmhwestmead

12.01.2022 We wish everyone a very happy and safe festive season. We also wish for rain - lots of lovely soaking rain - to put out the fires and to regenerate the land and our spirits. Thank you to our fabulous facilitators, wonderful schools and supporters for a great 2019 and we look forward to an even brighter 2020 helping the community to become more resilient in the face of climate change and eco-literate in ways to make change happen at a personal and communiy level to ensure change happens. Warmest regards from all of us, Eleanor D, Eleanor C, Bree, John, Michael, Wilma, Leonie, Aleisha, Alicia, Kim, Nathalie, Scuba, Leanne and Lucia.

11.01.2022 Sometimes our facilitators get to go on excursions... This is us at @indigigrow headquarters yesterday, sharing and planning for our upcoming term 3 programs. Thanks to Peter and the team for hosting. #indigigrow #nurturefreshthinking

10.01.2022 Off to a great start with Australian Pollinator Week, making Native bee nests, and discovering a resin bee has already visited our bee hotel! #ozpollinatorweek

10.01.2022 It’s National Wattle Day! It almost seems like a month too late for most of the species in this school garden. The flowers on the #acaciamyrtifolia are still hanging in there and some beautiful fruit have formed on other species. #nationalwattleday

10.01.2022 With our 2019 Primary School Programs now underway, we would like to express our huge gratitude for the generosity of PAYCE and PAYCE Foundation for funding our four term Program for yet another year at Riverwood Public School, Melrose Park Public School and Telopea Public School. Thank-you so much!

07.01.2022 Matching plants to pollinators in the garden today

07.01.2022 Exactly and that's what we are all about....

06.01.2022 A lovely harvest of fresh herbs from Riverwood Public School garden yesterday that were given out at Assembly. An easy way to have a healthy herb fix is to finely chop leaves and add to whatever you are preparing to eat - meat, vegies, salads, soups, pasta, rice, sandwiches and wraps. Yum! #schoolgarden #healthy #harvest #herbs #nutrition #flavour #outdooreducation

06.01.2022 Why buy pots when you can make them? Newspaper origami seed pots are a perfect garden activity for those rainy days. #origami #seeds #pot #seedharvestspoon #nurturefreshthinking #lovewhereyoulearn

06.01.2022 We saw a ngurra today! We were excited to see a butcher bird building a nest today. If you look closely at the top of the picture you might spot it. #birds #birdwatching #birdsnest #rainyday #seedharvestspoon #darugcountry #nurturefreshthinking #lovewhereyoulearn

06.01.2022 Very exciting. So good to see that the garden is doing so well - mystery plants as well:-). Water melon is my vote.

05.01.2022 Great article! Australian based research which further verifies what we do everyday at Seed Harvest Spoon.

04.01.2022 Its National Wattle Day! It almost seems like a month too late for most of the species in this school garden. The flowers on the #acaciamyrtifolia are still hanging in there and some beautiful fruit have formed on other species. #nationalwattleday

Heres some inspiration!

02.01.2022 Using the sandpit to study erosion. Didn't have much success stopping it with twigs but we had ideas for how to stop it in the school! #seedharvestspoon #nurturefreshthinking #sandpit #play #erosion #lovewhereyoulearn
