24.01.2022 We have been super busy lately sowing biodiversity in solar farms with native grasses and low growing saltbush. The intention is to have a diverse ecosystem growing in a typically sterile environment that is normally a heat sink in the environment. Not only habitat for a broad range of life forms but also reduces the temperature under the panels in the heat of summer creating an increase in power production. A win for biodiversity and a win for clean energy production

22.01.2022 We had a site visit today to an organic vineyard #Ngeringa that we sowed in 2020 for the #EcoVineyards project. Biochar was one of the treatments to help improve the soil and provide habitat for the essential microbiology in soil. Great results so far with a pretty good cover of native grasses that have even dropped seed in their first year

22.01.2022 Nice sunset with the Seeding Natives lads in high vis in a native grassland!

18.01.2022 It's Themeda harvest time in the Adelaide Hills. Two methods we use, this being the first. Decking it, piling it, drying, threshing it, storing it then sowing it! The other way is with our brush harvesters, much easier in my opinion

17.01.2022 After some time off the social media cycle because of how busy we are sowing native grasslands, each day I am posting about one of the projects we have been undertaking this 2020 sowing season. These photos were from the Pathways Wetland at Murray Bridge. A new underground pipe and pathway was installed, out job was to seed all of the disturbed areas with native grasses, chenopods and other Wetland specific species. @SAWater #ecologicalrestoration #conservation #environment

17.01.2022 Superb weather today for direct seeding at Meldanda for an SAMDB, INTG project demonstration (Iron Grass Natural Temperate Grasslands) a diverse range of INTG grassland species that will be a demonstration of what is possible!

16.01.2022 A pleasant surprise today when we visited a site sown last year with a range of salt bush and native grasses at Morgan SA. With the lack of rainfall last year I was not expecting what we saw

15.01.2022 After seeing myself on ABC's Landline today and the flurry of emails and social media contact to follow, I thought I would end the day with a post of us seeding some of our new multi species seed production areas. As seed demand increases so does the need for more production areas so that we are not reliant on the natural environment for seed. The species we are trying to save from extinction rely on the seed either directly or indirectly.

10.01.2022 Today was a special seeding for a special person. A diverse native grassland with more than 40 species, surrounding Fiona's Wetland. Stage one of a three stage project with specialised ongoing management.

09.01.2022 I wonder if anyone can guess what we have been up to lately I'll give you a hint. If has nothing to do with a Hobbit and everything to do with a native grassland.

09.01.2022 Love and respect!

09.01.2022 Just about ready to harvest. The first decent harvest in three years for Bothriochloa macra (Red-leg grass). A fantastic native and summer active grass (C4 grass) that not only benefits native wildlife and insects but also helps improve the soil structure and gives green cover in hot summer conditions when many other species are either dormant, dead or struggling. Never underestimate the natives

08.01.2022 Announcing Seeding Natives AGM in November at Frahn's Farm with a special guest David Paton from BioR. RSVP is essential as numbers are limited.

07.01.2022 Another site we have recently seeded after the weed seed laden topsoil was scraped off (about 40 mm) to reduce exotic competition to enable the establishment of a diverse native grassland with more than 60 species sown. Certainly not always the best site preparation method but appropriate in this circumstance.

07.01.2022 Today was the first #HRA Habitat Recovery Alliance sowing. A diverse mix of native grassland species sown in the recovery efforts after the Cudlee Creek fires. Some tubestock planting of trees and shrubs will follow next week, to be planted by volunteers.

07.01.2022 Seeding a native grassland for the Habitat Recovery Alliance #HRA, a project in response to the Cudlee Creek Fires. Sowing the grassland and planting shrubs and other species via tubestock, a complete ecosystem restoration from the ground up. #landcare #conservation #restoration #grasslands #environment #ecology

05.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone, we hope you have a fantastic break and some quality family time (for those that are lucky enough to get a break and spend it with family). As we look forward to the end of 2020, we also look forward to the end of this African Love grass wiped today

02.01.2022 A sticky and messy day seeding today across the road from #Glenthorne farm on an SA Water site that will have a solar array installed in the coming months. The soil is the black Bay of Biscay clay that is a nightmare to clean of shoes and equipment. All things considered a great day not getting bogged sowing the beginnings of a Grey box grassy woodland.
