25.01.2022 It’s worth asking the tough questions of your ‘Social Media Diet’... Are the images you are seeing enhancing or diminishing your body image? How does your mood change after viewing online content?... The images we view on social media can be curated to enhance mood, body image and self- esteem! Does your feed need a review? https://theconversation.com/women-can-build-positive-body-i

22.01.2022 Christmas baking in full swing this weekend with my team of ’helpers’. Love watching their chubby hands hard at work and the looks of pride as they sample their own creations! #messy #slowfood #brisbanedietitian #cookingwithkids #christmasbaking #paediatricdietitian

21.01.2022 Self-care doesn’t have to be all about bubble baths and facials. It’s usually the simple things that make the biggest impact. Here are a few ideas for this time of year... enjoy!

18.01.2022 Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas may you enjoy fine food and company all throughout the Festive Season. I thought I might share my favourite Christmas tradition with you. Every year, my family honour their Dutch heritage by gathering together, early on Christmas Eve to bake a loaf of ‘Weihnachtsstolle’.... It is the coming together of 4 generations. We hustle for bench space and Mother/Daughter/Grand-daughter argue over the finer points of our own interpretation of the recipe (written in Dutch). Coffee is taken while we wait for the dough to prove and results are compared with great exuberance and hilarity. The finished products usually vary from baker to baker as each experiments with a different type of flour or makes an error of judgement in cooking (this year- it was me with a yeast scalding incident!). While my loaf seems to look different every year, the taste on Christmas morning is always the same the taste of love, family, tradition and Christmas. Merry Christmas from my family to yours #familyfood #christmasbaking #brisbanedietitian #4generations #christmastradition #stollen #merrychristmas

15.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure of presenting a session on Feeding Children at Flight Centre Travel Group's global headquarters in Brisbane. Over 40 parents attended the session organised by their 'Parentwise' team - a great volunteer initiative supporting parents returning to work and balancing work and family life. 14.01.2022 Getting up to date on the latest research on food allergy & intolerance today. It’s ‘day two’ so the coffee is a key learning accessory! #paediatricdietitian #allergy #brisbanedietitian

12.01.2022 "When people feel better within themselves, they are more likely to engage in healthy behaviours and feel motivated to take care of their bodies". A nice summary of the Health At Every Size (HAES) approach in this article. If you are re-considering your relationship with food, dieting and your body, spend some time getting to know a little more about HAES!

08.01.2022 Today, I have been very privileged to attend the 2019 ABA HP Seminar Series #supplyingtheevidence as part of my volunteering role with the Australian Breastfeeding Association There seems to be no limit to the scientific research that describes the incredible, adaptive and therapeutic benefits of breastmilk. But knowledge is not enough to increase breastfeeding rates and duration.... It takes a village to care for the Mother/ Baby Dyad in an effective and wholistic way. Dr. Alison Stuebe suggests that much attention is given to ‘the magical properties of milk’ but there is much more to the conversation We mustn’t forget who produces this wonderful milk and the relationship between a mother and her baby. We must seek out what brings joy during the post-natal period. #brisbanedietitian #ABAHP2019 #ABA19 #breastfeeding #aba19 #abahp2019 #supplyingtheevidence #paediatricdietitian #womenshealth

03.01.2022 Had the absolute pleasure of attending Yotam Ottolenghi in conversation with Annabel Crabb last night in Brisbane. I’ve been a big fan of both foodies for years and I spent the time utterly enthralled and unable to wipe the smile off my face! I loved @ottolenghi ‘s take on ‘healthy’ cookbooks and diet culture... They can interrupt our intuition and we don’t know what we should eat anymore. Are you hungry? Do you like this food? That’s all we should be asking! If you’re looking for me, I’ve disappeared into a vortex of cookbooks and recipes with renewed fervour. #thegap4061 #brisbanedietitian #ottolenghi #nondietapproach #lovefood #intuitiveeating #annabelcrabb #chat10looks3
