23.01.2022 The newest #SeedTerminator twins in Saskatchewan, Canada terminating weeds this harvest on Andrew Reddekopp’s farm! #saskag #Canada #HWSC #integratedweedmanagement #deeresighting

20.01.2022 #StartedwithScience #4 in 2016 Nick went back to the drawing board to design a mechanically driven Mill that was suitable for most machines and available to farmers big & small. #SeedTerminator was born.

18.01.2022 The fast-growing weed Palmer amaranth has developed a tolerance for dicamba herbicide in at least five counties in western Tennessee and likely several others, said University of Tennessee weed specialist Larry Steckel on Monday. The report was a setback for dicamba, which was introduced a few years ago as a new tool for control of invasive weeds that showed resistance to glyphosate and other weedkillers. So, is it time to panic? No, wrote Steckel in a university blog. However, it is time to reassess weed management. Herbicide stewardship is now more important than ever.

17.01.2022 #StartedwithScience Milestone #2: Nick geeked out and trialled 100's of different CFD designed mills to create one with optimised residence time for killing ryegrass seeds based on impact alone & the fundamental equation. Then he made it. It worked.

15.01.2022 "Farm survey data from Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) shows that average Australian farm grain losses at harvest are $96,000 each year," von Perger said.

11.01.2022 #StartedwithScience #3: Nick's project was to take the mill designed based on the fundamental equation for killing ryegrass and integrate it into the back of the combine harvester. There is still one making laps alongside a MY17 Seed Terminator in WA #StillWorks

09.01.2022 Reflecting on the past 11 years of work this month, here is a summary of some of the highlights so far... #10000Hours #Journey #SeedTerminator #StartedwithScience #Thankyou

05.01.2022 When moisture was applied in autumn as part of our tests, the barley grass populations from NSW came up very quickly 50 per cent germination was achieved within an average of five to seven days, he said. In contrast, populations from the EP were much more dormant and took an average of 33 days to achieve 50 per cent germination, nearly seven times longer than the NSW populations. This means pre-seeding knockdown weed control is likely to be less effective on barley grass populations with higher seed dormancy. The complicating factor with barley grass is that it sheds its seeds too early for harvest weed seed control and it is hard to spray top because it is early maturing. Barley grass can shed up to 90 per cent of its of seed by the time a crop can be harvested. https://buff.ly/3iWbC4j

02.01.2022 #StartedwithScience Milestone #1: Dropping #ryegrass seeds in the path of a moving blade to determine the speed and number of times they needed to be hit to devitalise them *Note this skips the year Nick spent designing and building Graham Quick's idea of a mill, which worked when processing straight ryegrass, BUT STIMULATED growth when combined with chaff! #FutureResearchProject #TryAgain
