25.01.2022 What a beautifully refreshing weekend! It was so revitalising to see the High Country flowing with many visitors once again. Thank you to everyone who made their way up from Melbourne. We've missed you and it's wonderful to again be sharing with you the natural beauty and adventures of Victoria's High Country. Photo credit: IG/@hannaheliza__ #seehighcountry

25.01.2022 We're honoured to see the High Country represented on the latest Australian stamp series by Australia Post Collectables. The new series features Water Tower and Tank Art from around rural Australia. It includes the Winton Wetlands CFA water tank painted by Guido van Helten. The mural on the concrete water tank was commissioned in 2016 for the annual Wall to Wall Fest in Benalla. The tank is owned by the Country Fire Authority and was painted with portraits of three local CFA volunteer members. The new stamp features the face of Colin Hooke from Chesney Fire Brigade: https://australiapostcollectables.com.au/st/water-tower-art

24.01.2022 Have you ever cruised along Snow Road on a sunny Spring evening with trees in full blossom on both sides? What a sight! Snow Road runs between the Hume Highway and Myrtleford, taking you through the beautiful (and delicious!) small towns Oxley and Milawa. Look closely at this awesome shot by Julian Marotta and you may also spot someone enjoying an afternoon run on the Murray To Mountains Rail Trail. ... We truly love how prominently and distinctively the four seasons flourish in Victoria's High County. Photo credit: IG/@marottajulian #seehighcountry

23.01.2022 Don't you love discovering hidden pockets of magic in the High County? One such place is the Redwood forest in Stanley near Beechworth. Photo credit: IG/@anniemedwin #seehighcountry

23.01.2022 The border is open! Today we celebrate the fantastic efforts of everyone from Victoria and New South Wales, which has allowed for the NSW/VIC border restrictions to be lifted. You can once again cross the mighty Murray River from New South Wales into Victoria's High Country. There's a number of border crossings that connect NSW with the Upper Murray region of the High Country. You can once again explore these scenic crossings at:... Bringenbrong, between Corryong and Khancoban, where you’ll find an ode to the mighty Murray Cray. Tintaldra, where you'll find a Murray Cod sculpture perched on the border. Bellbridge near Albury, where the steel truss Bethanga Bridge carries the Riverina Highway across Lake Hume. Plus several quiet single lane crossings around the backroads of the Upper Murray.

23.01.2022 Tranquillity in the High Country. We think Falls Creek Resort boasts some of the best alpine fishing in the country. Rocky Valley (pictured here) and Pretty Valley Lakes are renowned for their brown and rainbow trout. Each lake provides stunningly serene fishing in summer for shore-based anglers: https://www.victoriashighcountry.com.au/listing/fishing/ Photo credit: IG/@brontewhite... #seehighcountry #fallscreek #visitvictoria

21.01.2022 During a "normal year", wine lovers would be flocking to the King Valley this weekend for the La Dolce Vita Festival. Instead, it will be a much quieter weekend in this beautiful wine region famous for Prosecco. So, it's the perfect opportunity to make the most of beautiful springtime conditions in the King Valley, or plan ahead for an extended stay at the unique and spectacular accommodation of Mt Bellevue. The Lodge at Mt Bellevue is a rustic and cosy three bedroom red ceda...r alpine home. Situated on a ridge in Myrrhee, you can soak in stunning vistas across the King Valley and through the elevated vineyards. Surrounded by extensive lawns and nestled just below the vineyard, The Lodge is the perfect place for a family holiday or a romantic weekend away: https://www.victoriashighcountry.com.au//the-lodge-mt-bel/

20.01.2022 It's a long walk to the top of Mount Feathertop, but the hike along Razorback Ridge from Mt Hotham to the summit of Victoria's second highest mountain offers spectacular views that rarely disappoint. As we celebrate peak hiking season in Victoria's High Country, will you be conquering the Razorback this summer? Photo credit: IG/@jking_2301 #seehighcountry

19.01.2022 New days are here at Falls Creek, which has reopened to visitors from regional Victoria (sorry Melbourne friends, but your time is definitely coming very soon!). Visitors can head up the mountain again to enjoy the spring rays, dine out and access the resort’s beautiful alpine hiking and running trails. And the best part... it's not long now until wildflower season! Please note: if you are planning to visit Falls Creek Resort, you will need to register your trip via their website before you visit: https://www.fallscreek.com.au/falls-creek-resort-has-reope/

19.01.2022 Stepping into the new year with so much to explore. Start your 2021 adventures in Victoria's High Country by exploring the 27,750 hectares of Lake Eildon National Park. Here you'll find both gentle lakeside walks and longer, steeper hikes to more remote and scenic areas of the park. Our favourite is the trek up to Blowhard Summit for unrivaled views over Lake Eildon and out towards Mount Buller. 14.01.2022 As the temperature climbs towards 40C degrees in the High Country this week, you can find us cooling off in the refreshing serenity of our mountain-fed rivers, such as the blissful King River in the King Valley. The top end of the river (towards Whitfield) delivers grade two and three rapids for those serious paddlers and the bottom end (closer Visit Wangaratta) is dotted with easy access points, sandy beaches and is perfect for beginners and younger paddlers. 03.01.2022 Hello Spring snow! There's been some decent snow across the High Country overnight, with the alpine peaks of Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Mt Buller all receiving a fresh thick coat of beautiful snow. The white stuff has even reached the bottom of the mountains, with Harrietville in the alpine valleys enjoying scenes of "very big soft snowflakes floating down", according to Harrietville local, John Gertsakis. What a beautiful sight! Photo credits: John Gertsakis
