01.04.2022 Sprints and how they will help you to be generally more bad ass. I know what your thinking... Running? No thanks!! But before you write it off as cardio which is obviously way to much effort, what if i told you it could help you with some of those sweet gains you've been searching for.... Thats right Sprinting will help you to build a bigger stronger arse and leaner muscle bulging legs. How? Sprinting is an explosive movement, generally sprint training lasts a very short amount of time followed by a long rest (not at all like steady state cardio and the monotonous drumming of your feet on the treadmill). With these short bursts of maximal intensity you are stressing your muscles even more than a longer more consistent run. So what does this mean? Growth, and excellent bang for your buck. A sprint session thrown in every week will help boost your metabolism which means more energy burned. More importantly it doesn't take anywhere near as long to do a sprint session as it does to run 10 km. So, long story short Sprint training = time effective, metabolism boosting, muscle building, maximal effort training. Conveniently we have a FREE sprint session coming up this Saturday. If you would like to get involved comment below and tag a friend who needs to build some booty to fill out their shorts.

20.01.2022 Balls Deep in the training journey and why its the best thing you will ever do. I know what youre thinking I hate training, it sucks, Im not good at fitness, i tried it once and it made me feel sick.... Everybody feels this way at the start, know why? Because it does suck! You are brand new at this, youre like a baby fresh out of the womb trying to lift its head. Its frustrating, its hard and it makes you feel inadequate. Why the hell would this possibly be a good thing? Progress is slow but you keep turning up, excuses get in the way, but you keep turning up. Weirdly its getting better, you feel confident enough to talk with the other members in your class about squats and deadlifts. Finally you have found common ground with these weirdos that seem to live at this place. Your next training day rocks around and you find yourself starting to dread it less, you are going to destroy these weights. You hit a PB on your lift and start hunting around for the nearest member to high five. Chalk fills the air and you are met with an odd sense of personal achievement and satisfaction. In this moment you dont even remember your original reason for joining this crazy fitness trend, you are too enthralled in becoming apart of the community. This is becoming a second home for you. Soon you find yourself looking at the newest member to join the classes. You remember what it feels like to be new. Scared. All these people around you lifting things without needing to be told every 2 seconds how to correct it. You make eye contact and drag them into a conversation. Its like looking into the past when you were just starting out, now you are their way into the community. Realisation dawns on you, wow, Im now apart of this community, others are now looking at you wide eyed asking how anyone could ever be so keen to be working out. You have become one of them. Going balls deep into your training is about so much more than just hitting a weight loss goal or putting on some muscle. Its about the feels. The sense of belonging when you see your gym fam waiting for you to start lifts. Its the feeling of fear when you miss a workout because you know the others will be talking about it, even if the only thing they say is how much it sucked. For you this is a safe place, no judgement, just appreciation of your group. It doesnt matter if you are 4 years deep or 4 minutes fresh you belong to this family and we couldnt be more excited to have you along for the journey. If you are looking for a community unlike any other, where group suffering and satisfaction are basically the same thing and you can really feel like you belong, we might be the training facility for you.

20.01.2022 Stone off in the troll cave. The 50kg stone. Lifting and moving odd objects. Everything in life isnt always a perfect bar shaped weight. Learning to use your body to lift and move different weights and shapes is invaluable for ongoing health..... Plus it looks awesome.

10.01.2022 Summiting the mountain. Today I got to do something really special. People often talk about why fitness is important or why you should lifting things and how much your body will benefit if you take up some activities.... But, no one really gives a shit about that. Want to know whats really important? Its the moments in life where you know you have the fitness, strength and ability to commit to certain obstacles and tasks without the worry of body failure. Today I got to do something really special. I had the honour of being involved in someones proposal to their fianc. We have been mates for the better part of my life and this morning I was tasked with the responsibility of taking some pictures. What the hell does that have to do with fitness you ask? Well, the pictures had to be taken at the top of Mt Warning. 9km return. At 5.30am... It was a surprise. So not only was I required to be there, I needed to be efficient, quiet and all of the summit had to be completed in the dark. Perfect for the sunrise proposal and pictures. I know when you are training hard in the gym these are not the things you are thinking of. How often does an opportunity like this come around even. Am I glad I have the fitness to be able to help out without even a second thought. You bet your arse. Is it easy when you start out? Definitely not. But it is worth it? 100% If your fitness is holding you back, or you want to share how its helped you. Comment below.

01.01.2022 Chasing goals. Firstly the importance of taking pictures. There is about 7 months and 8kg in between these two pictures.... In 2016 I was sitting around 77kg. Since then I have increase my weight to 85kg. The weird thing is, I dont feel any different. If I purely took my results from what I thought I previously looked like or how I currently feel I would probably feel like I hadnt progressed at all. If you dont know, you dont know. This is why having some pictures to measure progress is important. You can visually see a real difference. (Especially in the beard game... beard game strong obviously) Next point. My results are obviously "more jacked" in the second picture. However my levels of happiness are the same in both. Accept that currently you are where you are and you can still work towards that goal with confidence in yourself. Last point. The journey isnt finished. Now its time to go bigger. Im happy with how my current training has progressed and now I can make decisions about my next goals. Always having something to work on keeps focus high and dedication to training consistent. If you need some help with your training, I am happy to help guide you. Comment or PM -Coach.
