24.01.2022 Another morning walking along the beach, only to discover that some prefer to ride...and perform. Thanks mate.
23.01.2022 Just two photos...sunrise 20 May 2020 at Boambee Beach...just slivers of sunlight, orange light.
23.01.2022 Winters on its way to Down Under. So, nows the time to head up to the mountains for some crisp, frosty, misty and beautiful light. But be sure to rug up cause it can be rather chilly. Oops I almost forgot...once the Covid 19 Lock-down has been repealed. In the meantime, a few images from last year to tempt you.
23.01.2022 After seeing the massive RAAF C17 Globemaster descend from the clouds last week, this Sunday was set for me and Miss Lumix to check-out some of C17's smaller winged relatives at the Coffs Harbour Aero Club's open day. An enthusiastic crowd of adults and children enjoyed talking with club members, inspecting a heritage Russian Yak and modern light aircraft, some taking a scenic flight while others dined in the club house catching up with friends talking about the thrill of flight. If you are interested in becoming a member and/or learning to fly, this is the place. Check them out at www.coffsaero.com or call (02) 6652 2992
22.01.2022 With Leeloo (our Border Collie) having a sleep over I was able to take Miss Panasonic for an outing to Boambee Headland. Heres some of what we captured...
21.01.2022 On a recent assignment in Northern Rivers of New South Wales, I rose early to view sunrise from a sugar cane field. The previous day an old water tank in one field caught my eye so it was to that location these three images were captured...
20.01.2022 From Evans Head at sunrise to Coffs Harbour at high noon...our local icon, The Jetty - in colour and black & white. Please let me know which you prefer ?
19.01.2022 A spur of the moment decision to rise early, drive two hours to a mountain top lookout and hopefully capture a colourful sunrise proved fruitful. Here are some images from Point Lookout as well as a few images taken the next morning when walking beside the seaside.
18.01.2022 On Sunday a brilliant red sunrise, and on Monday a magnificent thunderstorm sunset...both on Coffs Coast in northern New South Wales.
16.01.2022 Still in corona isolation ? Me too, but fortunately I have the chance to get out for work. The other day, a trip to Port Macquarie for my drone pilot license flight test (yea, I passed) then on my way home a quick stop at Scotts Head. Great coastal views of local beaches and vista south to South West Rocks. Then this morning another exercise walk on Boambee Beach with my four legged friend and a beautiful sunrise. I hope we all be able to get out and about soon. Stay safe.
16.01.2022 Spring has sprung on Coffs Coast...an early morning walk with my four pawed friend, a little flight training, a stroll along the beach then some gardening at home under the watchful eyes of a beautiful bird, an Eastern Rosella.
16.01.2022 A wee bit chilly this morning on Coffs Coast, but...the scenery invigorating, the fishermen out throwing in a line and the dogs enjoying a chase...
15.01.2022 The bush fires continue in New South Wales and Queensland. But for how long can our wildlife continue life as normal ? The persistent high temperatures, smoke in the atmosphere and destruction of their habitat by the fires is a serious threat to their survival. Ours too.
15.01.2022 On this cold winters day on Coffs Coast, its good to know that summer is on the way...
15.01.2022 Any day is a good day to take a walk around the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore. Here are some of Sundays sights...oh, plus two shots of the Beacon HiIl lookout.
14.01.2022 Celebrating the Winter Solstice with my four footed friend...now for the lengthening days Down Under.
13.01.2022 It is the last day of the year, and as usual, me and Leeloo went for our morning walk (me) and run chasing sticks (Leeloo) on Boambee Beach, Coffs Coast. Considering the terrible fires engulfing the country, especially in NSW and Victoria, we are blessed with blue skies and mild temperatures for the last day of 2019. Lets hope that all parts of Australia will soon receive rains and milder climes too. And now, best wishes for a successful and peaceful year, the year in which the world comes together to seriously address climate change.
13.01.2022 A photographers best friend...when no one is home to help you test a new lighting set-up. Thanks Leeloo...
13.01.2022 Every dawn brings a new palette of light, every one different, all precious. Heres todays from Boambee Beach, Coffs Coast, Australia. May you also enjoy the morning light wherever you may be.
12.01.2022 Thankfully the sky was less smokey yesterday and today. So an early morning visit to see sunrise at the Sawtell Ocean Rock Pool was rewarded with capturing the golden orb appear just after official sunrise - 05.39 am. And one keen swimmer enjoying the refreshing waters in the pool.
12.01.2022 Finally managed to edit some images of the journey from Penrith to Dubbo. These show the destruction of the fires in the Blue Mountains and the resilience of nature (after years of drought) on the Western Plains and around the Warrumbungle region of New South Wales since welcoming refreshing and much needed rains. Let us hope that humanity has the same healing powers to recover from the coronavirus. And to appreciate, value and understand the critical importance of maintaining the health of our planet.
12.01.2022 A little of the Autumn scenery on Coffs Coast today. Enjoy.
12.01.2022 Happy Easter. This morning after rising early, I enjoyed a solo walk along Sawtell Headland as Leeloo (our dog) was having a sleep-over. With southern breezes bringing a taste of winter it was perfect weather for a warming cappuccino. But with cafes and restaurants closed due to coronavirus where would I find one ? Fortunately our favourite cafe, Zest in the main street of Sawtell came to the rescue. The usual window seat had been turned into the new servery counter by owner Jonno while barista Lauren made me and others her most delicious lattes and cappuccinos. Happy Easter.
11.01.2022 Another beautiful morning walk along the beach...
11.01.2022 If they cancel the rest of the school year, students would miss approx 13 weeks of education. Many people are concerned about students falling behind because o...f this. Yes, they may fall behind when it comes to classroom education...but fall behind who ? BUT WHAT IF .... What if instead of falling behind", this group of kids are ADVANCED because of this? Hear me out. What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing. What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own garden and sitting near a window in the quiet. What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower? What if this generation are the ones to learn to cook, organize their space, do their laundry, and keep a well run home? What is they learn to ride a bike, play a board game, do simple crafts, learn to bake, climb a tree, play without a screen? What if they learn to Understand the value of money, whats important and to live with less? What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home. What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday? What if they learn to just be, to be more resilient, to be content ? What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place? What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life to truly learn what really matters in this life? What if they are AHEAD?
11.01.2022 The walk along the beach today brought back memories of a poem I first heard when in primary school...just a few years ago...OK more than a few years ago. It is Sea Fever by John Masefield...the first verse goes like this... I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,... And the wheels kick and the winds song and the white sails shaking, And a grey mist on the seas face, and a grey dawn breaking. And now, heres the images that trigger the memory.
10.01.2022 With so many people confined to their homes due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I am thankful to be able to exercise walking along the beach each morning in company with our dog, Leeloo. The past few mornings have gifted stunning sunrises uplifting my spirits. Heres some pictures that I hope are also pleasing to you. Stay safe and keep well. Then when this destructive disease is defeated, get out and enjoy your natural world wherever you are.
10.01.2022 An April morning beach walk in the era of Coronavirus. Even the dog is abiding by the rules !
08.01.2022 Underbelly ...here's three images of aircraft, on their final approach to Coffs Harbour Airport...all critical for the health, well-being and security for the community. The two military planes, a Boeing 737 AEW&C is a twin-engine airborne early warning and control aircraft and the Lockheed C130 a heavy lift transporter. Both were on approach-and-go training exercises. The Air Ambulance NSW's Beechcraft King Air was most likely to be on a mission to transport an injured or critically ill patient from Coffs Harbour to Newcastle or Sydney for specialist medical treatment. In this era of Covid 19 these visitors are now almost as common as the currently reduced Qantas, Virgin and Link Airways services. For an up-to-date schedule of passenger services visit www.coffsharbourairport.com.au
06.01.2022 Boambee Beach on Coffs Coast is an ideal place for your morning exercise...be it on four paws or two feet or wide wings.,,
06.01.2022 After drought, fire and this week floods, it seems the wild weather is about to settle down. But not before ex-tropical cyclone Uesi off Australias east coast sent some wind and waves to us. We were expecting a big blow and large waves, but...this morning they were not so destructive but nonetheless still powerful. Here are some images from around Coffs Harbours marina and Jetty Foreshore. Oh and one view south to Sawtell.
05.01.2022 A long weekend away photographing sport in Penrith and Dubbo was most enjoyable. At the Penrith White Water Centre, I had the opportunity to capture the Czech Slalom Canoe athletes training for the Tokyo Olympics...including Rio Olympic bronze medalist and current World Cup Champion, Jiri Prskavec and compatriot and European Championships gold medalist, Katerina Kudejova. As well as the Czechs, there were athletes from Australia (Olympic silver medalist Jess Fox and sister Naomi), Germany, Japan and Slovakia (Olymicps duel gold medalist Elena Kaliska) . Here are some of the Penrith images. Dubbo images to follow soon.
05.01.2022 The changing face of Coffs Coast - from Bananas to Blueberries...
04.01.2022 A winters day on Coffs Coast, New South Wales, Australia...the view to Sawtell Beach from Boambee Headland shared with a friendly blue eyed local...caw caw caw
04.01.2022 At 5.30 am this morning it was still dark outside. But that didnt stop our dog Leeloo pawing me to get up and take her for a walk. So after a little more persuasive pawing I did. Even though it was not a blue sky morning, it was dramatic and foreboding as dark clouds rolled across the sky from the west. And we both enjoyed the morning strolling along Boambee Beach. Especially Leeloo who never tires of fetching sticks that she has trained me to throw for her !
01.01.2022 On an assignment in Northern Rivers of New South Wales, I rose early to see what sunrise might look like from Evans Head...I got lucky. Again.
