25.01.2022 The New moon represents the start of a new lunar cycle. When the sun & moon are in divine alignment. Time to feel a pull towards quiet, going within & slowing down. You may feel weary, low in vitality as energies of change & transformation rise up. A time to be gentle with yourself in how you move, think & communicate, allowing time for relaxation & meditation. New moon is an opportunity for new beginnings. Time to set intentions, a time to release patterns that no longer serve you & be open to new beginnings. The image above represents Ganesha-elephant headed Hindu deity. He who is kind, joyful & full of wisdom. The remover of obstacles & bringer of new beginnings. Please bring your own towel to cover communal bolsters/props. . A hand towel or your own eye pillow . Attention to hygiene / cleanliness at all times... . 08.01.2022 Restorative yoga Restorative yoga is a practice of passive healing. Using props to support the body so as you can surrender completely any holding or tension in your body, with no effort. The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) is a state of fight or flight, with us from our ancestors. Who when approached by a dinosaur could either stay & fight or run away, once out of danger their body would return to parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). Unfortunately in todays fast pac...ed demanding society most people are living prolonged periods daily in their SNS. Resulting in dis-harmony/ dis-ease in the body. Causing a compromised immune system, disturbed sleep or insomnia. Poor digestion & elimination. Breathing is short & fast, body is tense & tight. Restorative yoga as the name suggests will restore, Renew & rejuvenate the body. Coming into the PNS - rest & digest. Body can heal, rest, restore, find balance in breath & sleep pattern, functioning in our optimal state - Harmony. Restorative yoga helps to support conditions like anxiety, exhaustion, adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalances & so much more. Join me for a session tomorrow afternoon, to bring a sense of softness. 07.01.2022 Sama Vritti - soothing breath This is a simple breath technique you can do almost anywhere at anytime. Our breath effects our emotions & our emotions effect our breath. If we are fearful or anxious our breath is short & sharp, & our body is tense If we are calm our breath flows with ease our body feels relaxed. ... Lay down & make yourself comfortable, rest your hands on your belly, just below the navel. As you inhale you will feel your belly rise & on your exhale it lowers back down. We breathe in - pause- exhale - pause. No force no strain. You can count your breath say inhaling to the count of 3, pause exhale to the count of 3 pause , then begin again , finding your rhythmic cycle. Choosing your count depending on your lung capacity.
