25.01.2022 The first Black Belt grading took place at the Seido Kazoku Dojo, with honorable guests Nidaime, Hanshi Renzie Hanham, Shuseki Shihan Chris Caile, Kyoshi Ellen Hampston and Senpai Meg Nakamura travelling from afar to attend. Thank you all for the support and a big congratulations to the candidates! OSU!

19.01.2022 A seven-year-old Nelson karate-ka has brought tears to Hanshi Andys eyes with an emotional reminder that Seido Karate is not just a physical practise, but a ...spiritual one which nurtures a sense of community and caring for one another. Hanshi found a letter waiting for him in the dojo earlier this week, hand-written in pencil and respectfully addressed to Hanshi Andy Barber. The letter, which visibly moved senior karate-ka when Hanshi read it to them at last nights Black Belt Class, reads: Dear Hanshi Andy Barber, I have a weekly allowance of $7.50. I save $3.00, spend $2.00 and give away $2.50 a week. I would like to donate to the dojo $2.50 a week. My Mum says whatever I make at the end of the year she will double. I hope you will use it for someone in the Victory Community. The young karate-ka finished his letter with OSU in capital letters and a post-script: P:S When I turn 8 my allowance will be $8.50 a week so then it would rise to $3.00 a week. Hanshi says the letter moved him deeply and Sei Shihan Jane and Kyoshi Sharlene were wiping their eyes, too! This boys letter and what he wants to do for his community is the epitome of the meaning of karate. Karate means open hand. The open hand is giving, soft, letting go. The opposite is grasping. We also believe the essence of our karate is: I can learn to protect myself, but beyond that, I will protect you, too. Im not just strong for me, I am strong for others. It is not just in the physical sense, but spiritually. Materially, we look after each other with a sense of community and this is what this boy has done. Hanshi believes this act by a seven-year-old will add value to all students sense of purpose in their practise. Occasionally, we all need a reminder about the different values in our practise.

14.01.2022 Osu Everyone, I hope that you and your loved ones are OK, infection free and well. With heavy sigh, we join the long list of Dojos around the world closing thei...r real door and opening virtual ones. As of today (23rd of March) no more classes at Strathfield Girls High School until further notice. We are organising platform to create our virtual presence - will be operational soon, shall keep you informed. I ask every dojo members to keep practicing, training, remain in touch with the Dojo, because I am sure it will be important for mental and physical health to keep body and mind occupied. 06.01.2022 Happy New Year! We start the year with the traditional Kagami Biraki training session at 10 AM this Saturday, the 1st of February. We plan to run the class in the dojo, basics with lots of energy to start the year with high spirit - but we may need to do it outside, so please bring water, hat, running shoes and sunscreen / sunglasses. From Monday the 3rd of February we will be fully back on, please note that all our training days - Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays will start at 5:30 PM.

04.01.2022 Osu Everyone, Based on our experience so far, we try a slightly different timetable: The first hour of Monday and Thursday is dedicated to juniors. The second h...our on both days will be for adult kyu grades, in separate breakout sessions for blue, yellow and green belts. Thursday second class will also offer 20 - 30 minutes long meditation, sparring drill and other exercise sessions, depending on available instructors. Tuesday first class does not change much, junior and senior students will be training together according to their rank. Second class is for Black belts. For now, our Zoom class invitation remains the same for each day
