15.01.2022 An 8th degree black belt in Seido Karate, one of three senior instructors in the world, and an inductee to the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame, Renzie Hanham delivered our first Karate for Parkinson's session today. Loads of good stuff for Parkinson's here.

13.01.2022 Legal Implications of self-defence in Australia The Law; You should only use as much force to stop the completion, continuance of the offence or attack. You must not continue to use force after they have stopped. Force must be legally justifiable in the circumstances. Must be reasonable and proportionate. Force means type, amount and duration. (Section 462A of the Crimes Act). Always act from a position of strength, ... -Physically -Lawfully -Mentally Legal Justification: -ones own defence -defend another person under our care Note: A martial artist has no rights, in fact it may be seen and said, you have less rights than the citizens in the community when you are being charged with assault. The higher rank you become the more difficult it can be, because it is much easier to inflict damage on to people. In a self defence situation you can only use as much force as necessary, do not kick and do not punch the face. If you do either of these to win..........you lose. See more

12.01.2022 We have seen this over the years with kids doing karate over their exam times. The one who stick to their weekly routines usually do better or find it easier to deal with stress.

06.01.2022 OSU, I would like to share a poem by one of the parents. The Seido way We arrive at our karate class... and through the dojo door we pass we place our shoes in nice straight lines and leave every day behind We sign our cards and take our place form a line of equal space in belt order, black to white ready to train with all our mind We learn to block, to strike, to kick repeat again to make moves stick ichi, ni, san then ichi again the Japanese count a constant refrain We practice, we laugh, we learn, and play and soon enough it’s grading day work hard and the reward is yours a brand new belt and sweet applause As we grow strong learning self defence developing inner confidence we gain peace in our heart and mind that we can share with all we find Our Seido family is fair and fun giving space to everyone to discover life is not a race We learn and train at our own pace Respect for all, for you and me is essential to our philosophy love and obedience are also part of our journey through this martial art By Darrelle Spenceley

03.01.2022 At Bayside Seido Karate we have encouraged parents to train with their children for many years. Why don't you ask your family and friends if they want to come and try?

03.01.2022 Today's tournament update. 23 November 2019 We have recently been advised by South Oakleigh Secondary College that they are also running a large event today - so parking on school grounds might be challenging. However, there is a lot of unrestricted parking in the nearby side streets (Norma Ave, Joyce Ave, Beryl Ave) so you may have to park there and walk to the school. Looking forward to seeing you all soon! Apologies for the short notice.... OSU!
