25.01.2022 Skin brushing! A routine I like to do at least twice a week. Our skin is our largest organ and supporting it through dry brushing helps to rejuvenate the nervous system enhance digestion and kidney function eliminate dead skin, and... reduce the appearance of cellulite. Shower after brushing and apply a natural body moisturiser. Team this up with a mug of hot water with a big squeeze of fresh lemon for a great start to the day See more

25.01.2022 Gotta love left over salads to have with freshly whipped up scrambled eggs... great way to start the day! Have a healthy, happy one!

24.01.2022 The reason behind the name change

24.01.2022 This time 4 years ago I found myself in the Emergency Department of the Royal Adelaide Hospital with rapid Atrial Fibrillation and a heart rate regularly exceeding 200... it was a scary few days as doctors tried to work out the reason for the AF attack. After a series of tests including a radioactive iodine test it was concluded that I had a thyroid issue - namely Graves Disease. I was put on a course of thyroid medications and heart tablets to manage the AF and was told t...his would be my life now, living with Graves and medications daily... there is no cure for Graves Disease! I wasnt happy about this! as this was an autoimmune issue, surely theres an underlying issue causing this response? if I have created this, then I can un-create it! I starting researching autoimmune diseases and soon found a connection to gut health and our immune system. I made a choice.... time to make some big changes. I followed a strict protocol to heal what I believe to have been leaky gut. It is said that 85% of illness is attributed to poor gut health. My poor food choices, too many anti-biotics over the years, lack of stress management and a rampant sugar addiction led me and my immune system down a slippery slope. I started on a regime that cut out ALL wheat, dairy, sugar and alcohol - I chose a predominantly plant based diet but enjoyed good quality organic meats one-two times per week. I moved my body, either walking the dog or in home yoga and practiced relaxation techniques to manage my stress better. I took responsibility for my own health and listened to my body. This included taking the medications initially, and slowly weaning off them over a five month period as my health improved. I would never recommend anyone go off their medications cold turkey or without consulting your specialist. Having said that, my endocrinologist still wouldnt acknowledge the gut heath/lifestyle connection in my healing. After the 5th blood test (5 months into my changes) showing my thyroid levels now at normal, and having completely weaned off the medication, her comment was - you were just one of the lucky ones! Now some 3 and a half years since reversing this condition, my levels are still normal. I have had a couple of moments with my heart but this has always been a signal that stress is too high and poor choices have crept in. Again I say, listen to your body! This health journey has taught me much and has led me to further studies in health coaching and I look forward to a time in the near future when I can be of service to anyone else facing their own health or life challenges. Blessings and love, Teresa

21.01.2022 Can't wait to see this film... Not all disease has to be permanent. NO REASON FOR DISEASE with The Gut Man, Don Chisholm, why do we have so much disease, what we can do to reduce it and how can we even start to prevent it.

21.01.2022 End result zucchini, pumpkin, fetta paleo bread

20.01.2022 Infectious disease has dramatically reduced over recent history due to the discovery of good sanitation practices, antibiotics and the war on bacteria, however we now find ourselves facing an epidemic of chronic disease. As we see an increase in allergies and auto immune diseases, more is being discovered about the connection between our gut flora (good bacteria) and optimal health. As this obsession with sanitation and sterile environments ramps up, we continue to risk t...aking good strategies way too far. We are made up of more microbes than human cells and our very survival depends on these organisms. Expose yourself more to the good! Get your hands in the soil Increase your intake of probiotics Eat more dietary fibre Minimise antibiotics where you can - seek natural alternatives Good bacteria are essential to a robust immune system.... support your gut - support your health.

12.01.2022 In hindsight I could see it coming... Overwhelm, burning the candle at both ends, not honoring my body and pushing to advocate for industrial hemp while growing a business that had been my master for the past 11 years! Racing in an ambulance to the Royal Adelaide hospital with a heart rate reaching 200 bpm I was struck down with rapid AF and it was not budging. ...Continue reading

12.01.2022 Tapping into our creativity doesnt mean you have to be an artist ... anything that is born of nothing is creative. Whether its a project at work, a business idea, a beautiful meal cooked at home, or diving into a passion, be it sport, or dance or painting. We all have creativity within us and journalling is one way to tap into that creative power. I have started doing morning pages as taught in Julia Camerons book The Artists Way - 3 pages of long hand writing in the morning and I am amazed with the words and insights that flow onto the page and into my heart. Try it! What hidden creative forces lay within you?

12.01.2022 With a majority of chronic illnesses linked to the health of our Gut microbiome, or colony of gut bacteria, there are many things we can do to improve the health and diversity of this vital organ, and in turn boost our immune system. * introducing good bacteria via probiotics and good nutrition * getting out in nature * cutting down on OVER SANITIZING * reducing stress... Interestingly in these times of Covid19 this balance of combating stress, getting out in nature and over sanitizing is challenging many and I wonder what other health implications will surface in the wake of this moment in time? 08.01.2022 Health is not just about nutrition, there is great benefit in both movement (exercise) and contemplation (stillness)... For many years I have attempted a yoga practice, relying on video tutorials at home. I have finally stepped into my own flow and morning routine, based on Hatha yoga, and I am loving the benefits it brings. Not only gently unwinding my body physically but also mentally and emotionally. This practice sets me up to finish with a short yet powerful medita...tion where gratitude and love sits. I would encourage you to look at where you can find movement and stillness in your life. There are many incredible yoga teachers in our community also, with classes opening up again after the challenges of the past few months. 06.01.2022 As the world continues to grapple with an invisible virus and its physical and mental health ramifications, our food industry continues to contribute to another health crisis. So many people suffer the consequences of the onslaught of toxins sprayed on, modified with and grown throughout our food system.
