25.01.2022 HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE Rest day does not mean do nothing! Muscles recover faster if you move them! ... Gentle exercise whether it’s a walk, yoga, Pilates, mobility or a light body weight workout are all great ways to help your muscles recover. We evolved to be movement machines, capable of walking and running huge distances every single day. The human body wants to move, to stand, to stretch, to lift. It has not evolved to be good at sitting in a chair! It’s not good for your hips (the powerhouse of your body) to sit in a contracted 90 degree angle for long periods of time. So whether you are out to brunch or watching Netflix on the couch this Sunday, make sure you get up and walk or get down on the floor and stretch! Show your body some love! You don’t need to smash a killer workout, you just need to move!

23.01.2022 2 weeks to go!!! All things going well, I will be back to face to face outdoor training in 2 weeks time. We are extremely lucky in the 21st century that we have technology that allows us to see, hear and work with people remotely. It has really been a saving grace the past few months. However, nothing beats good old fashioned face to face human connection. ... I miss my friends, family and clients and I can’t wait to see everyone (from a safe 1.5m distance) very soon! * note * Sunday Funday zoom fitness will be continuing on.

20.01.2022 10 minutes of warm up mobility before my run this morning. Feet, ankles, calves, hips, glutes and some balance/core. All just to run 3k ... Since running in my @lemsshoes natural footwear runners. My running speed has increased dramatically without even trying!! Using my feet and ankles properly, feeling the ground and propelling myself forward from the foot, shaved 1 WHOLE MINUTE off my 1k run time FIRST GO! That’s huge for me! I have run 6 minute kilometres for as long as I can remember and just by changing my footwear I dropped it to 5 minutes instantly! To start off with I could only run 1k at a time my calves become extremely fatigued now that they are fully stretching with each step and not being supported with a huge cushion on my foot!! But slow and steady wins the race! I’ve been building up bit by bit and dealing with having to run less distance and less often whilst my feet and calves build up their strength. whilst I wish I had known better and made the change earlier... when you know better you do better and I’m so glad that going forward I will be using my feet, ankles and hips correctly and to their full potential every single time I step out the door! Thanks to @thefootcollective for all your amazing teachings I am loving my foot nerd program SO MUCH so far. For anyone that wants to learn more, from people way smarter than myself check out the @tfcaudioproject podcast! Nick and Mike hit you with straight up truths about how to PREVENT AND CORRECT any foot, knee, hip, shoulder or neck pain, weakness or discomfort you might be experiencing.

19.01.2022 Thanks @acrowithjon these fun partner lifts keeping us fit, amused and challenged during the craziness that is 2020. @jyetdharris

18.01.2022 If you get a bit lost at Any time throughout 2021 , remember you don’t need to wait for a New Year or a New week or even a New day to start your next goal and change your life. You can start STRAIGHT AWAY! Wherever you are, whatever you are doing there is always an opportunity to make the changes you want to see in your life. Dream them up, write them down, make them happen! ... For me 2021 is going to be about continuing my learning journey, hopefully discovering new movements and working on a daily meditation practice. What are some things in your life you would like to change and work on in 2021?

16.01.2022 SUNDAY FUNDAY ZOOM SESSIONS a little snippet of what the HIIT (high intensity interval training) looks like. Challenging but still attainable for all fitness levels because I always offer variations! HIIT runs for the first 15 minutes then we do a fun dance where we keep our heart rates up but mostly just shake out all the cares and worries of the week. You can leave it there with 30 minutes of sweat for $5 or you can continue into the mobility/Pilates portion of the class for $10 for an hour.

11.01.2022 Often times, when you experience pain in your body it is not a sign that your body is deteriorating or letting you down but actually just a signal that something is working less than optimally. I often hear people say I have bad knees or I have a bad shoulder but the truth is these issues can often be relieved with mobility and correctional exercises work. It will take time and persistence. But if you have bad knees because your hips are tight because you have a desk ...job where you sit 8 -10 hours a day, 1 or 2 workouts a week won’t be enough to reverse the affects all that sitting is having on your body. You will need to stretch and move every day, preferably 2-3 times a day. But, Just 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day will have a huge impact on tight muscles and joints. Muscular skeletal issues can be caused by a HUGE variety of things from bad shoes to too much sitting or just overuse, unfortunately going to a massage therapist may relive symptoms temporarily, but you aren’t addressing the cause of the problem, so the pain will always come back! It’s important to seek a health professional that gives you corrective exercises to work with you to address the root cause of the issue and help permanently correct and relieve any issues you may be having.

10.01.2022 Steamed veggies and crispy air fried tofu with a homemade peanut satay sauce yum!

10.01.2022 When it shopping day but you still have fresh fruit and veg left over from last week... Whip it all together! Vegan basil pesto ... risotto/stew/curry...? Whatever you want it to be! ... I sautéed brown onion, a whole bunch of fresh basil, lots of garlic, some fresh coriander (totally optional) and pepper. I personally would also add chilli but my partner Jye can’t handle the heat so I’ll add that to my own later. I then added vegetable stock, 4 cups of water and arrowroot flour. And let it simmer to make a sauce. I drained and rinsed a can of mixed beans and a can of lentils, put freekah in the rice cooker to cook and put slivered almond in the air fryer for 4 minutes. I chopped up all the vegetables I had leftover. Broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and asparagus. But honestly use whatever you have! I added them to the pan with the sauce and when they were almost done I added the beans and lentils and freekah to the pan as well and mixed it through. Finally I added the almonds and topped with fresh parsley. 30 minutes start to finish and will make 4-6 serves, depending is hungry I am.

08.01.2022 Self love! Any true health and/or fitness transformation always comes from a place of self love and self belief. Self hate can be a good initial motivator but it doesn’t last. Take this challenge today. Look in the mirror. And say I LOVE YOU ... It feels SO good! To know, no matter what you do, no matter what mistakes you make or hiccups you come across in life that you will always be truly, deeply Loved! See more

08.01.2022 Shoulders are probably my favourite body part to work. I’ve seen a lot of progress in the last 18 months and progress is always motivating. What’s your favourite body part to work on??

05.01.2022 I know that 2020 hasn’t been what any of us expected and definitely not what we wanted but for some of us it might have been exactly what we needed! I am grateful that 2020 gave me the push I needed to quit my job and go out 100% on my own as a personal trainer. It’s something that I knew I would always do eventually when I was ready Well the universe said stuff when you’re ready Selina, you are doing it now! And I am SO GRATEFUL for the push! ... I am so happy and stress free, working when I want, helping people in my own way. Don’t get me wrong 2020 definitely wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine, but instead of dwelling on the bad I am challenging you to focus on the GOOD! What did you achieve in 2020? What are you proud of? What are you thankful for? What did you learn about yourself? Are you stronger? Is your house cleaner? No achievement is too small to mention! Share with me what you are GRATEFUL for about 2020! (And don’t just say, that it’s almost over!) Encourage your friends and family to accept the challenge of looking at the positive side of a completely unexpected year!

03.01.2022 Have you ever thought about how much money you will spend on cars in your lifetime? Purchase cost is one thing, but they need fuel constantly and regular services to keep them running smoothly. And even then you are lucky to get 10-20 years out of one before you want or have to upgrade... Now think about your body in this same way. Except you KNOW that you want it to last you 80-100 years!!! ... Nourish it properly, Service (move) it regularly, watch out for weird sounds and maybe the engine light coming on and absolutely never feel guilty about investing time and maybe money into it! Your body is going to carry you through this life, it’s going to be there every single day for better or worse, so why not make it the most well run, well maintained and efficient vehicle it can be!?

02.01.2022 Your weight is NOT your worth! Whilst every magazine cover or Instagram add might be telling you about the next quick fix to the perfect body it is so important to remember. That being thin won’t make you happy, it won’t give you more friends, more love or more joy in your life. Focus on your health, your strength, fitness and overall well-being. Because feeling good, not only feels good, but looks good! ... Taking care of yourself with good sleep, great relationships, daily movement, lots of water and vegetables and some sort of gratitude or mindfulness practise is a HUGE glow up! You don’t need a magic pill, you don’t need to drop a dress size or lose 10kgs you just need to look after your one and only lifelong home.
