24.01.2022 The Eye of the Future was created on Peregian Beach in Queensland last week by Gabrielle Quakawoot of @theartofstringtheory, Rose Feely of @eucaplyptroses, us at @seljakbrand and our golden crew of helpers. Alongside @schoolstrikeforclimate, @wjstandingourground, @seedmob, @lockthegate, @youth4climatejustice, @xrebellionaus, and others, we call for no public funds for gas and other damaging fossil fuel projects. Instead, recovery funds should be spent on:... 1. Resourcing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led solutions that guarantee land rights and care for country 2. Funding the creation of jobs that fastrack solutions to the climate crisis and help communities recover 3. Projects that transition our economy and communities to 100% renewable energy by 2030, through expanded public ownership. #fundourfuturenotgas #standingourground

19.01.2022 The front and back of the Seljak Lune... The Seljak Lune is inspired by the tides and skies of the Great Barrier Reef. Just below the surface of the water is an explosion of life that relies on a precise inhale and exhale of the ocean. On the reef, the ever present sun and moon are a reminder we are at mercy to their power, and the fragility of life cycles are both within and beyond our control.

15.01.2022 The perfect reading nook at @coldwatercabin in Tassie featuring Seljak Brand blankets for the extra cosy factor!

14.01.2022 Perfect for indoors or out, the Seljak Dune is soft, lightweight and durable. Because it's made from recycled wool, the blanket can absorb and evaporate large quantities of moisture. This is why wool is quick drying, breathable, insulating and odour resistant. Additionally, the natural oils in the wool mean it's not easily stained and it's naturally antibacterial. Bit of a wonder fibre, really.

14.01.2022 Solving the textiles recycling problem involves being able to recycle pre-consumer waste (e.g. industrial waste that is offcuts from factories etc) and post-consumer waste (e.g. clothes that we longer want and can't be donated). The Seljak Lune is made with old woollen sweaters that have holes and such in them that they can't be resold or reused. This is one of the trickiest elements of the waste stream to manage so we're stoked we can turn discarded clothing into beautiful blankets. This means we're keeping resources at their highest value at all times a key principle of the circular economy. Photo: @callie_marshall

04.01.2022 We've teamed up with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre to offer you a FREE @asrc1 x @BeciOrpin t-shirt valued at $45 with the purchase of a Seljak Lune blanket! Plus, we'll donate $150 of each sale directly to the ASRC! It’s Black Friday Cyber Monday and for the third year in a row we’re hijacking the sales frenzy with a message: refugees are welcome in Australia. The 100% cotton t-shirts are locally designed and screen printed in Melbourne. And Seljak Brand wil...l donate $150 of each sale directly to the ASRC. Refugees have a right to seek asylum in this country. We think it’s important to make this message clear in the absence of government policy that reflects many Australians’ opinions and experiences as kin, friends and allies of refugees. ____ When you order, enter your size (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL), colour (black or white), and fit (mens or womens) in the comments box in the checkout. Link in bio. Offer is available within Australia, starting on Black Friday November 27th and ending on Cyber Monday November 30th.

01.01.2022 Seljak Brand is officially carbon neutral With the guidance of the Carbon Reduction Institute, we conducted both a life cycle analysis of our products and an operational review of our business to get a complete picture of Seljak Brand’s carbon footprint. We then offset our emissions by supporting a forest conservation project that sequesters carbon (that is, keeps carbon in the ground rather than releasing into the atmosphere). ... By carbon offsetting, the harmful emissions released from making our products and running our business now equals zero. We even compared the carbon emissions associated with a recycled wool blanket to a new wool blanket. It turns out, using recycled wool saves 13 times the carbon emissions of new wool! Read more about our carbon strategy here: https://www.seljakbrand.com.au//we-re-now-a-carbon-neutral Photo: @thesuperlative at Mt Field National Park in Tasmania
