01.01.2022 Focus on what you have, not what you don't. Sadly it’s common to for jobseekers to focus on what they don't have rather than what they do. Sure - some jobs do genuinely require certain levels of experience and particular qualifications to "tick a box". But even if you don't have all the "minimum" criteria covered on paper, the best person for the job is generally someone who has relevant experience and skills along with the 2 "A's" Aptitude and Attitude. The Aptitude... to learn and the Attitude to succeed. I’m currently in 14-days isolation after travelling interstate. If I focused on what I don’t have it would be an absolutely miserable experience. So what’s the point of that? I’m using the experience to set myself personal and professional goals, and learn a few new things. Visiting the Sanu Foundation orphanage in Nepal with my cricket team in 2014, I met some of the happiest, confident kids I've ever seen despite the many adversities they've faced. They were only concerned with what they did have, very proud of it, and succeeding in life. By comparison isolation is a picnic. But for me, jobseekers, and these kids, the same thing applies. With Aptitude and Attitude, focusing on what you DO have, you’ll succeed in your goals. #sellyourself See more
