20.01.2022 We have decided to postpone our garden open day until 2021. Another productive working bee today. 6 Bitterbushes were planted as part of the campaign to attract the once plentiful, but now rare, Bitterbush Blue butterflies back to our area. We also planted lots of myoporum ground cover cuttings on the slope on the northern side of the garden. We hope to eventually have the bare slope transformed into a green one. Extra mulch was spread within the garden. Our garden will be judged on Monday October 12 for the Charles Sturt Council garden competition (community garden section). We will be at the garden the day before to give everything a final tidy up.
18.01.2022 Our worm farm now has a new insulated lid
16.01.2022 We are all dreaming of summer harvests and keen to plant #tomatoes, but please be sure to check your soil temperature first. The soil temperature should be at l...east 16 degrees and planting before this can set your plants back. Here at #SophiesPatch in the Adelaide Hills the soil is still at only 10-12 degrees and I don’t expect it will be warm enough till at least mid to late October. Not sure how to tell when it the soil get warm enough? Well the low tech test is when you can comfortably sit both bare cheeks on the soil but you can use a soil thermometer for a more accurate reading!? A great #gardeninggadget that you will use every year. Read all about what to plant when at https://sophiespatch.com.au//are-we-there-yet-when-to-pla/ Dont forget to tune in for #Gardeningtalkback on ABC Adelaide this morning at 11am SA time (11.30 AEST) when I talk gardening with Peter Goers, and have a few laughs along the way! If you are interstate tune in via https://www.abc.net.au/radio/adelaide/live/ #mypatch See more
15.01.2022 Hopefully we won’t get too wet at our monthly working bee this Sunday at 10. Everyone is welcome, including those who are considering joining. Not sure any snails will be fooled by the ‘decoys’ in the strawberry bed, but maybe some birds will.
14.01.2022 In case anybody is interested.

06.01.2022 Breaking out the shade on this warm day. We embrace innovation and individuality. Members are looking forward to getting back to the garden after lockdown ends at midnight. As per lockdown rules, we have had one person rostered daily to ensure gardens were all watered.
04.01.2022 Should we try this in our strawberry bed?
04.01.2022 Ha ha. No idea of the source of this photo, but it made me smile.
