04.05.2022 'Golden Hour' by Danny Walsh Banned Filmed in the sun bleached expanse of the Wimmera last year. Get along to DWB's album launches and buy the record - it is utterly gorgeous

19.04.2022 After years of following the exploits of Jonathan Alley and Dan Karalus for the last decade and a bit (including a couple of adventures to help film some b roll shots for them) it was a joy to finally see a preview screening of Love in Bright Landscapes last night. I highly recommend you check it out at Melbourne International Film Festival and beyond. It's gorgeous, brutal and honest. It delves into the story of one of my favourite songwriters ever and i'm glad its finally getting out into the world.

Get behind the peak body that advocates for the music industry at all levels whether it be performers, bookers, managers, venues, support crew to name but a few. These are dire times and with venues teetering on the brink, this organisation is truely needed to keep Victoria's music industry alive, let alone vibrant. https://bit.ly/mv-free-memberships-2020... https://www.facebook.com/events/2320703474901347 ---- Starring: Chris Gill (Owner, Northside Records), Official: Molly Meldrum, Sui Zhen, Allara, Dallas Frasca (A Hitch To The Sticks), Jon Perring (Co-Owner, The Tote and Bar Open), Përolas, Paul Kelly, and Harriet Devlin (Auslan Stage Left). 21.01.2022 Some words from Mr Kim Salmon: "I’ve been losing sleep all week with every new reality that we have had to wake up to every day! Living in so much flux we all crave for a simple wrong or right / black or white answer to our collective dilemma!... Work place or social gathering? Essential / Nonessential? The right thing to do? When you are attempting to do something new in unsure times it’s not going to be easy Although the live streaming Kim Salmon & The Surrealists ‘Rantings From The Book Of Swamp complies with current social distancing laws in the workplace, the band along with the organisers, Semiconductor Media - Live Streaming, Film Production & Photography, Rolling Stock Recording Rooms & Press Play Presents have made the decision to postpone this event until further notice for the sake of good health and as a responsibility towards the community. The improvised sets to be live streamed will be rescheduled at a later date when we feel it is safe. Hope that you can tune in then. We thank everyone who has already donated. They can leave their donation as is for the postponed events or request a refund at [email protected] which will be processed through PayPal"

21.01.2022 Not all news is bad news in 2020....

21.01.2022 All donations paid directly to the band - please support this event - PayPal.me/Surrealswamp Rantings From The Book Of Swamp will be 2 performances by Kim Salmon & The Surrealists recorded and filmed in a recording studio using state of the art technology to livestream the event over the internet. The band’s repertoire for these performances will be completely improvised to go directly, as is, to make up the content of a new album. The band won’t be rehearsing the material p...rior to recording it wouldn’t be improvised if they did. Each member will allow themselves to come prepared with their own set of ideas eg Kim Salmon will be singing lyrics directly from his note books he has some three volumes of The Book Of Swamp. This event will afford the viewer a rare opportunity to watch the creative process of a band as they interact and adapt with the intention of salvaging/extracting/fashioning a compelling performance out the situation that presents. This will be a unique opportunity to watch a group of musicians in situ as they communicate using whatever common language they can create, to make use of the studio, their own, and each other’s skills. A Semiconductor Media - Live Streaming, Film Production & Photography / Rolling Stock Recording Rooms / Press Play production as a part of Leaps and Bounds Music Festival.
