18.01.2022 In 1986 Mr Stan Dorman, Dale River Transplants imported into Australia approx 5 rams and 8 ewes from Texas USA. At huge expensence to himself they went into 7 years of quarantine beginning in Sth Australia on Torrens Island. The individuals were never released due to the quarantine protocol of the time. The majority of their progeny were released eventually from the Kirra quarantine Station. This group of sheep totally turned our meat sheep production into what we have today..... Although the breed Stan bought in were Back Faced Suffolk( Suffolk), the. actual breed did notc matter. The more important fact was he bought in an incredible package of genes. Yes Suffolk benefited directly in Western Australia, but the reluctance to have black headed sheep in the Eastern States was going to limit the uptake. Very quickly hybridization to create White Faced Suffolk, some how lead to. 'poor' fencing and the rams escaped into Poll Dorset flocks. Then the Poll Dorsets escaped into the Texel flocks. There was no end to the bad fencing. Illustration only. Top right was the import. Top left was the type of English Suffolk we had. Bottom left was the creation of the White Suffolk hybrid. 08.01.2022 These two rams need a flock of ewe, big or small. The are half Sth Africin Dorper and another half dorper derived from a Poll Dorset and a Persian cross. They have brilliant feet and colour genetics hidden in the mix.

Maybe its because that line has been man manipulated for so long that the perpensity to produce milk is so great, even the males can produce it.
