25.01.2022 I see the QLD government is now saying that they might ease border restrictions. The polls must have turned in favor overnight. Labor has spent more than $500,000 of taxpayers money polling people on the coronavirus response. Last week, the Premier said that the Chief Health Officer makes the decisions, in truth I think the pollsters are in charge.
25.01.2022 Great to hear the personal stories of people getting a job thanks to Adani. As Nicholas says it is "awesome"!
25.01.2022 Honoured to join online the 2020 Miners Memorial Service. Thanks to all miners for the sacrifices they make to make our nation great. We owe you an un-repayable debt. You can join online below
25.01.2022 Chris "Pineapple" Hooper is a top bloke and a Rocky institution but I do not think he should be Mayor. Thanks to a ridiculous law created by the QLD Labor Government, Rockhampton wakes up to Chris as Mayor because Margaret Strelow has resigned within 12 months of an election. Chris was the runner up in a 2 horse race in March with just 30% of the vote. It would be just as fair to make Donald Trump Mayor of Rockhampton! The LNP warned we could have outcomes like this. Now the right to elect a leader has been stolen from the people of Rockhampton and instead made by people in Brisbane thanks to Labor. Labor needs to fix this and fix it fast.
24.01.2022 Thanks to Labor this is Rockhampton's new Town Hall!
23.01.2022 The Greens have put up a motion in Senate today that we should change our climate change policy because Joe Biden has been elected. I know there have been claims of interstate people voting and dead people voting but did I miss something? Has anyone found examples of Australians voting in the US election?
23.01.2022 Fantastic turnout at the Developing Northern Australia conference in Rockhampton. Wish you all could be here, and if you were, you would get this fantastic gift pack from conference sponsors Adani! Looking forward to a great conference discussing the great opportunities for the north.
23.01.2022 I was on Alan Jones tonight discussing why we should build coal fired power plants to bring manufacturing jobs back to Australia.
23.01.2022 Great to catch up with Scott Piper - LNP for Hinchinbrook in Townsville this morning. Scott knows what it takes to run a small business and employ people. We need people like him in Parliament who support business and get our economic recovery going!
22.01.2022 The QLD Parliament is sitting this week and here is an important update to Labors Double Standards Act 2020 ...
22.01.2022 Did you know that our national anthem was written by a schoolteacher in a bus on his way home from a concert of national anthems? I think it is a great Australian story and another reason why we shouldn't muck around with his words. We are a young nation and even as we grow older, I hope we remain young in spirit as we offer a fresh start to so many people around the world. That is why I will continue to sing "young and free" and do so proudly! I write in more detail about t...Continue reading
21.01.2022 If Renewable energy is cheaper why do they always need taxes on our electricity bills to make them stack up? The picture below is from the NSW Government's new electricity bill. It shows that electricity distribution companies will be required to make a "contribution" into a fund to support renewable energy projects. Who will pay for this fund? Well of course that will be passed on to all of us who already pay too much for electricity.
20.01.2022 Margaret did not deserve to bow out as Mayor this way. She has provided committed and determined leadership for Rockhampton as Mayor. It is a travesty that the leadership of Rockhampton can be determined by those in power in Brisbane. These investigations have stemmed from a vindictive Labor party. This all stems from a visit to a solar farm. Jackie Trad kept her job as Treasurer after failing to declare a house. Massive double standards! I wish Margaret and Darryl all the best in the future. I hope Margaret considers running again one day but even if she does not she leaves an enormous positive legacy for our region.
19.01.2022 The Hunter region produces so much wealth and jobs and it has been great to spend sometime there this week. I will never give up fighting for the jobs that keep our great country going. Thanks to all those who came along to listen to us in the Hunter this week.
19.01.2022 Great to see the CFMEU already responding to our call for them to campaign against Labor! As the coal mining union says "Labor has let down" Queensland. I agree with them that we "should send QLD Labor a clear message" and "vote no to QLD Labor". Thanks to the CFMEU for standing up for jobs and calling out a Labor party that no longer protects workers.
19.01.2022 The double standards of the Queensland Government continue. They give exemptions to football officials from covid rampant Melbourne but wont allow a daughter to attend her Dads funeral today even though she is from the ACT where there has not been a case for over 60 days. It is not too late for an exemption as Sarah is waiting in hotel quarantine as we speak. Share your support for Sarah.
19.01.2022 Watch this important video from near Clermont in Central QLD. 290,000 solar panels and not a job in sight. Apparently all the jobs assembling were done by backpackers and each panel was provided $30 from taxpayers. It is not even hooked up to the grid! Renewable energy are the dole bludgers of our power system, they only turn up to work when they want to.
18.01.2022 I am disappointed I couldnt make the Cherish Life state election forum tonight in Rockhampton as I am in quarantine. But thanks for all of those supporting a change in these inhumane laws. Only 7 countries in the world allow termination up to birth without restrictions. We need a change of government to change that in Queensland so please share this message to protect life.
16.01.2022 Some suggest that even though a new coal fired power station makes sense, we should drop the idea because there is too much opposition to it. But with that attitude we never would have built Snowy (state governments initially opposed Chifleys plan), we wouldnt have signed a trade agreement with Japan just a decade after WWII and Adani wouldnt be getting built. To bring manufacturing back to Australia we need to show leadership and stand up to the naysayers.
16.01.2022 While QLD has a higher unemployment rate than locked down Victoria, why are we paying $15 million to the AFL? How much of that is going to pay for 400 AFL officials and family members to have a holiday at a Gold Coast resort?
16.01.2022 This is why it is not a good idea to tie our energy competitiveness and manufacturing strength to gas. We don't have cheap gas in eastern Australia and so if we build gas power plants we will be slaves to a volatile world market. Build coal power stations instead!
15.01.2022 Thank you Archbishop Coleridge for your leadership on the most important issue of all, protecting the gift of life.
14.01.2022 Dan Andrews claimed that his "longest lockdowns in the world" were based on the work of a "supercomputer". Well I just ran the model on my 3 year old, trusty Dell XPS 15. What a joke. Modelling is not science and it shouldnt be used to impose a police state. The modellers themselves say that their model "should not be relied upon as a sole basis for decision-making." Exactly.
14.01.2022 While the Labor party likes to bag coal jobs in public, the managers of the Qld governments money say that coal is a "good asset". Who to believe?
14.01.2022 If Annastacia Palaszczuk is making decisions based on medical advice, why has she spent more than $500,000 asking Queenslanders what they think about their own government?
13.01.2022 Great to see Deb Frecklington and the LNP support jobs in our world beating coal industry. The Labor party has disgracefully put 500 jobs on the chopping block by failing to approve the New Acland Mine. The LNP will approve the mine and create these jobs which is just what Queensland needs!
13.01.2022 I was on Sky News this morning, available below. The QLD Government has got themselves into so much of a mess because they have been playing politics with a pandemic. The sooner they put the election aside and just concentrate on making tough but compassionate decisions the better for all.
12.01.2022 Sorry for the repost. I posted this speech on vaping last week but apparently logos arent allowed on Senate recordings. So here it is again sans logos. The TGA announced today that it will release an interim ruling on liquid nicotine on 23 September. I and other Members and Senators met with them last week to push the case for a legal and regulated vaping market in Australia. Thanks for your support and we will continue to need you in the months ahead
12.01.2022 The QLD government announced yesterday that our debt would smash through $100 billion for the first time. But apparently we have enough money to pay millions to the AFL for 400 officials and family members to stay in a Gold Coast resort. How nice of them to restrict themselves to just 80 inside the "Oasis Pool" after the last weeks shenanigans.
12.01.2022 Why does Labor constantly pit up the white flag on coal? We have the best coal in he world and it will be in demand for decades to come. Instead of fighting Labor just always succomb to the bullying of the Greens. Labor has no fight anymore!
12.01.2022 The violence yesterday in US was shocking and I condemn it unequivocally. We should remember similar scenes happened in Canberra just 24 years ago. Then a rally was addressed by Labor MPs including then Opposition Leader Kim Beazley. The aftermath was a storming of Parliament House and a trashing of the foyer. Watch the incredible footage below. Do those Labor MPs condemning Trump similarly condemn their own? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jW0yxPbZq40
11.01.2022 Whichever way you look at it, if renewables were really cheaper than coal they wouldn't need to levy any sorts of taxes or contributions on coal for power companies to transition to renewables. We need to ensure that we bring back energy competitiveness to this country, and we should be building a new HELE Coal Fired Power Station in the Hunter. To sign the petition backing a new Coal Fired Power Station in the Hunter visit: http://www.huntercoal.com.au
11.01.2022 Below is my column in todays edition of Central Queensland Today. Make sure you pick up your copy of CQs newest print newspaper! In 1935, the Chief General Manager of BHP, Essington Lewis, visited Europe. He returned with the view that war was probable and that Australia must immediately strengthen its manufacturing industry. He and other Australian businesses, including General Motors Holden and Orica, established the Commonwealth Airport Corporation a year later. By 1937...Continue reading
11.01.2022 It took too long but finally the Queensland Government has decided to allow boarding school students to see their parents this school holidays. Thanks to many on this page who helped highlight and share the ridiculous double standards. The pressure finally made a difference. Thank you.
11.01.2022 Did major companies require people get TB or measles vaccines in the past? I don't support major companies like QANTAS trying to force people to have a medical procedure. I fear it says more about how out of control and unaccountable some of our big companies have become rather than anything about this virus.
11.01.2022 Australia has no journalists in China for the first time since Mao after 2 Australian journalists were ferreted out yesterday. We must urgently reduce our dependence on China.
11.01.2022 In last week's Central Queensland Today I wrote about the legacy of our longest serving Deputy Prime Minister, Doug Anthony, who sadly passed away just before Christmas. He was a champion of rural industries and his larrikin style made him a truly Australian statesman. --- The nation's longest serving Deputy Prime Minister, Doug Anthony, died last week. Doug was a true statesman in the Aussie larrikin spirit. ...Continue reading
11.01.2022 I will make same comment as Craig!
10.01.2022 Great work by 9News uncovering a scandal. The Queensland Government left Blackwater in limbo for days, even though they knew that the man had tested negative for coronavirus. More questions need to be asked here because the Queensland Government unnecessarily sullied a nurses reputation. And she just happens to belong to a union that competes with Labors preferred nursing union. Once again Labor does not protect the worker.
10.01.2022 Best news I have had on a Friday for sometime. We need more jobs and fewer mobs. Go Adani!
10.01.2022 A young Queenslander cant say goodbye to her Dad but under Labor if you have money ...
10.01.2022 We produce the cleanest coal in the world. Great to be at the Mandalong Coal mine in the Hunter Valley supporting jobs in our coal industry. About to do the TODAY show before heading underground.
09.01.2022 Joel Fitzgibbon was one of the few in Labor willing to defend coal and mining jobs. And he was one of their few who lived in a regional area. But even he now can't cop Labor's crazy lefties who want to shut down our great industries, so he has quit the frontbench. Now Labor has appointed a member from Sydney, Ed Husic, to replace Joel to represent farming and mining jobs. We are ignored again by Labor.
09.01.2022 The Hunter Valley has the best thermal coal in the world and we export it to other countries. NSW imports over 90% of its gas needs. I am not convinced that building a gas plant in the Hunter Valley is the best way to bring back manufacturing jobs. Why dont we just use the coal that is right there and build a coal fired power station?
08.01.2022 If you want to make stuff in Australia again join our fight to build a new coal fired power station to bring manufacturing jobs back to Australia. Go to huntercoal.com.au to sign up!
07.01.2022 We're not going to change our policy settings because of the threats and bullying of a foreign country. It would be great if we could sell coal to China, but if that stops we'll find other markets because Australia's coal is the best coal in the world.
06.01.2022 Today, Anthony Albanese gave a speech where he claimed that our "carbon" exports could be replaced by "lithium and other rare earths". Our exports of coal, gas and oil are 75 times that of lithium! And we dont even record data on rare earths but the GLOBAL market is only $1 billion, compared to the $130 billion we export in fossil fuels. Albo must think that workers are stupid.
06.01.2022 The banning of a sitting President of the USA from Facebook and Twitter and other social media platforms is a massive misstep. It's important for us to think of the ramifications for our own country, do we want a US Corporation having that kind of power over our own politics? There does need to be a deep consideration of whether we need better laws in this country to protect our political system and communication so we don't have interference from other countries including corporations based in the US.
06.01.2022 Michelle Landry and the LNP delivers again for CQ! Rocky will be getting a new sports stadium because of her hard working efforts. This community facility will attract sporting events and jobs to our region. Thanks to Gavin and his team at the Rocky Sports Club for their tireless efforts. I also recognise the support that has been given by the One Nation party. Rockhampton and CQ is no longer forgotten thanks to Michelles efforts as an MP. We have Rookwood weir, Adani, 3rd bridge, Shoalwater upgrades and a whole lot more!
05.01.2022 We should build new coal fired power stations using our coal to create jobs. Last week I spent time in Hunter Valley meeting many coal workers. The Mandalong mine supplies 80% its coal to a power station nearby that produces some of the cheapest power in the world. Please sign our petition at http://www.huntercoal.com.au/
05.01.2022 John Barilaro is a hero of the bush with how he has highlighted the property rights travesty that is NSW koala laws. It might not have been pretty but it was pretty effective. All the best John to you and your family.
04.01.2022 Last year Bob Brown came up to Queensland at the head of a diesel fueled convoy to stop Adani. Within months Adani had started and now 1500 people are employed at the mine. Once again Labor are stopping another mine, New Acland, where 500 jobs are at risk. So today I have invited Bob back up to Queensland to work his job creating magic again. We need to support coal jobs more than ever!
04.01.2022 Shutting down coal fired power stations will only deliver higher prices and more grid instability. To replace the coal power plants with wind turbines you'd need 600,000 hectares of land blanketed with wind turbines. And still it won't provide power on a still day! People want their fridges, freezers, and lights running all the time not on average! We should be building more Coal Power Stations not less, sign our petition at http://www.huntercoal.com.au
04.01.2022 Digging for coal has started at the Adani Carmichael mine! This gives us hope that we can still build things in this great country. Thank you for all the support you have given to get this project going and create over 1500 jobs! Just hear what Jordy Thomson, an electrician from Townsville, has to say: "I was waiting for Adani to kick off and then applied. I signed up to the jobs portal and then waited six months for the electrical jobs to come online. This will be a long ter...m job for me its too convenient to be able to fly direct from Townsville to site." Great stuff Jordy. Thats why I fought so hard for this project. So that we can just give people like Jordy a chance to have a good job and provide for their families.
03.01.2022 I got a big reaction to the announcement of a 2020 Coal Championship a week ago. With so many other sports still struggling to get fan enthusiasm going with reduced crowds and political grandstanding, this event has scratched an itch! To recap, 16 coal-fired power stations will go head to head in coming weeks to earn the ultimate crown of the coal champion. or = 1 vote! Long press the like button to send a reaction....Continue reading
03.01.2022 Kids and wife got me a flagpole for Fathers Day and just installed today. How good is Australia?
02.01.2022 California is a renewables paradise - heres their solution on a hot day! Imagine if Labor and the Greens got their way with net zero emissions, wed be stuffed!
01.01.2022 The coal mining union recently said that Labor has "forgotten the blue collar workers in the regions." Spot on. Today myself and other colleagues have written to the CFMEU asking them to support the LNP at the upcoming state election. We normally dont see eye to eye but we have to put the politics aside to create jobs again in QLD. We will approve the Acland mine, open up the Galilee and not impose new taxes on mining. - Ken ODowd MP, Michelle Landry, George Christensen, Senator Susan McDonald
01.01.2022 Great to visit some wealth producing businesses in Ross Vasta MP electorate this morning. A huge amount of QLD grain goes out through the Brisbane port and Ross has a vision to deliver better rail to the port. Great to also see mining trucks made here in Brisbane by the Loadpro team. This one is about to go out via the Port to Indonesia this week.
