25.01.2022 Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Over the last year I’ve been fortunate to meet and talk with so many wonderful Australians doing amazing work to put an end to violence against women and children. Thank you all for your efforts.

25.01.2022 Will it soon be illegal to share important perspectives like these ones featured in The Australian today? Victorian Government legislation introduced this week proposes to criminalise conduct including conversations and online activity. Can parents and their children, journalists, detransitioners, and medical professionals legally discuss the consequences of irreversible medical treatment? Everybody wants to see outdated and unethical practices consigned to the past. But putting journalism, expert discussion or parents speaking to their children into this category would be disgraceful. https://www.theaustralian.com.au//f065829f62254bfdbdaac919

25.01.2022 Jaime’s harrowing account of her suffering, and the refusal of courts to lock David Hodson up for life, is one of the most shocking things I’ve ever read. Every week in Australia we read more stories about Courts setting loose offenders who take pleasure from inflicting abhorrent abuse on children. Dangerous paedophiles who should be behind bars for life are instead back on the streets targeting new victims. It has to stop.

24.01.2022 Australia's Sex Discrimination Commissioner really doesn't want to acknowledge the existence of sex-based rights.

23.01.2022 You're no friend of women if you refuse to accurately define what a woman is. Ask Anthony Albanese and your Labor MPs and Senators why they refuse to accept that women are females.

23.01.2022 Our tax cuts for 11 million Australians have passed the Parliament. That means money back in the pocket of individuals and families across the country.

23.01.2022 Sport Australia’s Chief Medical Officer trashes World Rugby’s scientific approach to investigating safety and fairness impacts on women’s rugby, while simultaneously admitting Sport Australia’s own trans guidelines didn’t bother to assess the science. What we’re left with is a doctor spruiking the guidelines as legal guidance, despite legal experts finding they are inaccurate and misleading. Is it really too much to expect that Sport Australia would recommend against allowing males into female sports unless they had science proving there was no additional injury risk or fairness impacts?

22.01.2022 More jobs will be created thanks to $360 million in transport upgrades announced today. This funding will support Tasmania’s COVID-19 recovery and stimulate our local economy.

22.01.2022 A NATIONAL DISGRACE Watch my speech to the Senate this week on how courts are failing to protect children from predators.

22.01.2022 A great day at the Liberal State Conference yesterday with Scott Morrison (ScoMo) in attendance. Delighted that Tasmanian Liberals passed a motion endorsing my efforts to protect safety and fairness in women’s sports.

21.01.2022 Wishing Tasmanian Year 11 and 12 students the best of luck with their exams, which start today

19.01.2022 WATCH: Why hasn’t Sport Australia pulled its dangerous and unfair ‘inclusion’ guideline yet? Scientists say it misrepresents the science. Lawyers say it misrepresents the law. Sportswomen say it misrepresents the purpose of sport.

19.01.2022 PSA: From Friday morning Australians coming to Tasmania from the mainland (except Victoria hang in there!) will not be required to quarantine on arrival. Which Tasmanian destination will you be recommending your family and friends to visit first?

19.01.2022 Sensible and welcome comments by Ross Tucker following my questions to Sport Australia in Senate Estimates. More and more experts are pointing out what Sport Australia refuses to see: it's neither safe nor fair for males to play women's sport.

19.01.2022 Today’s editorial in The Australian reiterates a point I’ve been calling attention to: states which are meant to be developing a safe and evidence-based model of care for children with gender dysphoria are instead trying to make evidence-based care illegal. https://www.theaustralian.com.au//859d20e37bc0ac23d6bcdb54

18.01.2022 It’s a strange leap of logic to suggest that inclusivity requires people to be able to play in categories specifically not intended for them. No doubt Rugby Australia and the other sporting codes who have ignored the risk of injury to women will claim to have consulted widely, but it’s abundantly clear there is no mechanism for Australian women playing community sport to provide honest feedback. My opinion piece in today’s The Australian newspaper on the release of trans and gender diverse guidelines by eight Australian peak sporting bodies. https://bit.ly/34a1qio

18.01.2022 BREAKING: This afternoon, the parliament passed the Morrison Government’s Foreign Relations Bill. I fully support this legislation, and I will always fight to protect our national interest and prevent interference from foreign entities.

18.01.2022 Tasmanian Labor have AGAIN blocked legislation to guarantee jail time for child sex offenders. Listen to my recent speech outlining the epidemic of child abuse and the appallingly light sentences being handed to perpetrators and ask Labor why they continue to support these dangerous criminals being set loose in the community.

18.01.2022 How can Rugby Australia and Sport Australia still be promoting the inclusion of biological males in women’s sports when World Rugby’s research has found this puts female players at increased risk of serious injuries? My media release: https://bit.ly/3dgolwS Well done to Fair Play For Women and all the scientists and experts who contributed to World Rugby reaching a sensible, logical outcome on women’s rugby at international level. Now is the time to follow and support Save Women's Sports Australasia and send a message to Australian sports administrators that they won’t get away with sacrificing safety and fairness in women’s sport.

18.01.2022 The Commissioner’s ongoing failure to dismiss the complaint, which I’ve clearly demonstrated has no legal basis or substance, leaves Australians who wish to advocate for women’s sex-based rights in legal limbo. My refusal to stay silent about an unfair, anti-free speech process has led to the last-minute cancellation of mandatory conciliation. But Tasmanians are still no clearer on why Equal Opportunity Tasmania thinks advocating for fairness and safety in women’s sport is ‘prohibited conduct’. Read the latest update here: https://senatorchandler.com.au/update-on-discrimination-co/

18.01.2022 NEW: Sport Australia paid tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars to the Human Rights Commission to develop legal guidance on the operation of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 and advise sporting codes of their obligations under the Act. But when I asked the AHRC if they agree that Australia’s major sports are all permitted by the Act to operate women’s sport on the basis of sex, the AHRC says they don’t know. Why are some of Australia’s highest paid bureaucrats and sports administrators suggesting they don’t know whether strength, stamina and physique are relevant in our most popular competitive sports? The only beneficiaries of this interpretation are the activists who have used it to tell sporting clubs they could be sued if they don’t let biological men play in women’s sports.

17.01.2022 No Australian should be subjected to this flawed and undemocratic process. Media release here: https://bit.ly/2SkW4LH

17.01.2022 WATCH & READ: Let’s go to the video and find out what Sport Australia knows about women and girls in sport. This is the organisation which helped eight of Australia’s biggest sporting codes re-write their rules behind closed doors to make it easier for males to play women’s sport. My media release: https://bit.ly/3jAycQB

17.01.2022 Last night I spoke to Chris Kenny on Sky News Australia about the UK High Court's ruling on the case of Keira Bell and what this means for Australia.

16.01.2022 Well done to The Sydney Morning Herald for publishing this thoughtful, heartfelt piece. For too long Australian media has only published views from one side of this complex issue. However, it's sad that the Age Newspaper pulled the article after Twitter complaints. And even sadder that the Victorian Labor Government is trying to criminalise debate and discussion on this issue.

16.01.2022 An excellent analysis by Professor Ross Tucker on the science behind why women’s sport exists, and why males competing in women’s sport compromises safety and fairness. This is the science Sport Australia and the AHRC continue to ignore by pushing to open female sports to biological males.

16.01.2022 Earlier this month I helped launch Save Women's Sports Australasia, part of a growing coalition of athletes and supporters who want to keep women’s sport for women. Watch the video below and like their page if you believe in fairness and safety in women’s sport.

16.01.2022 Today in the Senate I recognised Keira Bell and the landmark High Court decision she and her supporters achieved. In Australia, state governments are trying to silence people like Keira and Mrs A. with the threat of criminal prosecution.

15.01.2022 Incat Tasmania is a great Tasmanian success story that shows what can be achieved in our state if we put our minds to it. With Incat CEO Tim Burnell at the opening of their new advanced manufacturing facility

15.01.2022 #WATCH as the Treasurer hands down the 2020 Federal Budget, #LIVE at 7:30pm AEDT on 6 October.

15.01.2022 Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) is quite right. Common sense must prevail and all Australians should have the right to speak freely including about the reality of biological sex.

14.01.2022 Bipartisan backing for the Australian Government’s defence of our national interests and sovereignty is critical. But yesterday, Labor MPs and the Opposition Leader went on a media blitz seeking to blame the Australian Government for trade tensions with China. Foreign actors like the CCP must know that they cannot change Australia’s foreign policy by seeking to influence our domestic political debate. Labor’s leadership should reflect on that.

14.01.2022 A beautiful day in Northern Tasmania to send off a challenging year. Happy new year everyone, stay safe on the roads!

14.01.2022 The admirable response of the French people to horrific recent terrorist attacks serve as a reminder to us all that freedom of speech and expression are fundamental democratic rights, which should never be limited or withdrawn to appease extremists. Western nations like Australia should be much more vigorous in defence of freedom of speech.

14.01.2022 Wokeness trumping expertise: UTAS Law Review has rejected an article on Tasmanian gender self-ID laws by the Dean of Law at a major Australian university, citing problematic language and transphobia. Bonus woke points for the reviewer who used the term straw representatives instead of "straw men" Australian universities, anti-discrimination commissions, sports administrators and bureaucrats continue to shut down debate on a topic which directly affects the future of women’s sports, facilities, health services and legal services.

13.01.2022 It was a picture perfect day in St Helens yesterday to officially open the new Georges Bay foreshore track on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack MP. Locals and visitors alike can now enjoy a walk or ride along the picturesque Georges Bay foreshore, made possible by a $2.1 million grant from the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Coalition Government.

13.01.2022 Terrorists belong behind bars, not out in the community. Watch as the Australian Federal Police explain how convicted terrorists are faking deradicalisation to get back on the streets.

12.01.2022 Up close and personal with one of the local residents at Tasmanian Devil Unzoo today! One of the many reasons to visit the beautiful Tasman Peninsula this summer.

12.01.2022 Merry Christmas

12.01.2022 Excellent article by Chris Uhlmann in today’s The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. It’s heartening to see these important issues increasingly being spoken about in national media. There has been little community debate, yet bureaucracies everywhere are conforming with demands in fear of being branded transphobic, the latest in a long list of identity crimes..Now the bureaucratic state dictates morality and the devil is discrimination, in all his endlessly evolving forms. The crime is giving any perceived offence. The weapon is the law. There is now a witch hunt afoot in Tasmania.

11.01.2022 BREAKING: The AHRC today admitted there is zero science behind the guidelines they and Sport Australia developed to pressure sports into allowing biological males into women’s sport. Shockingly, they have no intention of re-drafting their guidelines despite falsely claiming the science cited by World Rugby wasn’t available when they released their guidelines in July 2019. The fact is they didn’t look for the science, because safety and fairness in women’s sport was never the point for them.

11.01.2022 No science Closed door consultation Misrepresents the law Sport Australia must withdraw their dangerous and ill-informed guidelines and stop promoting practices which put female athletes in danger.

11.01.2022 In the Senate this week: the extraordinary steps Equal Opportunity Tasmania took to stop me speaking. If you initiate legal action against a woman for expressing her views about women’s rights you do not want an ‘open and frank conversation’ - you want to control what she says.

10.01.2022 The AFL says social inclusion (males playing women’s football) is more important than women having a fair competition. Despite Australian Rules being a full-contact collision sport, the AFL’s Gender Diversity Policy allows biological males to play women’s football. What could go wrong?

10.01.2022 It was great to catch up with John at Pooley Wines to discuss some of the initiatives in the Federal Budget to help businesses recover from the pandemic and create jobs. $4 billion JobMaker Hiring Credit to create jobs for young Australians Instant Asset Write Off extended for 99% businesses to write off the full value of eligible business assets they purchase

09.01.2022 Our new JobMaker hiring credit will encourage businesses to hire younger Australians. Treasury estimates it will support around 450,000 jobs for young Australians. Read more: www.liberal.org.au/budget

09.01.2022 No woman should be subjected to this kind of shocking treatment. It is totally unacceptable and grossly inappropriate.

08.01.2022 My take on how the 2020 Budget helps get Tasmania back in business.

08.01.2022 People often ask me why I’m not on Twitter. Here’s why. Banning women for saying that only females get cervical cancer amounts to waging war on truth. Doing so while allowing violent threats against women who understand biological reality shows Twitter cares more about protecting ideologues from facts than protecting women from abuse.

08.01.2022 One of the best parts of my job is talking to students about how our parliament and our democracy works. It was extra special to speak at my old school St Michael's Collegiate School and answer the girls’ questions about my role as a Senator for Tasmania.

07.01.2022 The AFP’s responses to my questioning at today’s Senate hearing should be a serious concern to all Australians. Courts should not be taking the gamble that terrorists will see the error of their ways once released from prison. The only way to guarantee community safety is to keep terrorists behind bars. 06.01.2022 My latest article on the defence of free speech and how Tasmania’s Anti-Discrimination Act restricts Tasmanians from conveying common-sense views. https://bit.ly/3kLaD84

06.01.2022 This is confronting. The AFP are doing a great job, but they shouldn’t have to catch paedophiles twice. Courts need to step up and stop letting these dangerous criminals back on the street. As long as I’m in the Parliament I’ll be fighting for tougher sentencing and making sure police have the powers to track down these abhorrent offenders wherever they hide.

04.01.2022 Activists are weaponising discrimination laws to shut down opinions they deem offensive and stifle free debate. Check out my latest opinion piece for Quadrant Online.

04.01.2022 More jobs and better roads for Tasmanians as a result of investment from the Morrison and Gutwein Liberal Governments. Great to inspect progress on the Midland Highway today with Tasmanian Infrastructure Minister Michael Ferguson.

04.01.2022 Today, Ordinary Seaman Teddy Sheean has been officially awarded the Victoria Cross in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice. This brings to a close a long-fought campaign for recognition of Teddy’s heroic efforts in defending his fellow crew on the HMAS Armidale as it sank under fire, 78 years ago today. Photo courtesy of the Australian War Memorial.

04.01.2022 This makes my blood boil. There is absolutely no public benefit in putting dangerous predators like this back on the street.

04.01.2022 Friends around the world are prepared to #StandWithAustralia

04.01.2022 WATCH: Sport Australia can't stick to the same story. Why is it so hard to get a straight answer about whose idea it was to tell women we can't have our own sports?

03.01.2022 My speech on the Keira Bell case and the Victorian Labor Government’s attempts to criminalise dissent from gender identity theory has been printed in The Australian today. The Victorian Bill will reportedly be rushed through the Legislative Assembly today. Read here: https://bit.ly/3oBvxYP

03.01.2022 Residents of Sorell and the southern beaches will have a faster commute home thanks to the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Government’s $150 million investment to duplicate the Tasman Highway causeways. It was great to welcome Acting Prime Minister Michael McCormack MP to Tasmania today to check out the site of the causeway duplication. Michael Ferguson Senator Jonathon Duniam

03.01.2022 It’s disturbing to hear Labor’s Shadow Trade Minister openly state that Australia should sit quietly and let other nations stand up for our values rather than do so ourselves. Australia should always be prepared to speak up in defence of our national interest and our values - just as we did in relation to the COVID-19 inquiry, and just as we have today about the appalling social media post from an official Chinese Government account.

02.01.2022 Tomorrow at 11:00am we will pause to reflect on the sacrifice of the Australian men and women who lost their lives in past wars and peacekeeping operations. Observing a minute of silence on Remembrance Day offers us time to reflect, remember, and pay respect to our defence personnel.

02.01.2022 More freedom of speech policing: The City of Sydney has told the Feminist Legal Clinic that it will review the FLC’s website on an ongoing basis for any material which is not respectable discourse by which they mean content supporting women’s sex-based rights. Has the City of Sydney asked ratepayers if they want their rates used to prevent community groups acknowledging that women are females? https://bit.ly/314dvoB

01.01.2022 Ground was officially broken at Pembroke Park today for the new stadium complex, which will house netball and basketball courts, as well a gym and function space. Funded by the Australian Government, Tasmanian Government and Sorell Council, this project will provide modern sporting facilities to those living in the south east and encourage greater participation in sport.

01.01.2022 Tax cuts for families and workers means more of your own money to spend on what matters to you, generating billions in economic activity and more jobs. Read more: www.liberal.org.au/budget

01.01.2022 Keira Bell wins: The UK High Court has found that the use of puberty blockers on children is an experimental treatment with real uncertainty over the short and long-term consequences and very limited evidence as to its efficacy. Contrast that decision to the Victorian Government’s attempts last week to criminalise even raising these issues. The Bell v Tavistock case must finally cause Australia to stop allowing the sex and gender debate to be dominated by activists who employ tactics of secrecy, suppression of evidence, and silencing of concerned parents and experts.
