25.01.2022 While our kids classes are fine tuning their techniques right before a grading, our seniors return to the basics of a back kick. There is always something to learn in #Kyokushin #Karate and we never stop learning or returning.

25.01.2022 Dedicated kata nights allow us to focus on this important foundation of #Kyokushin #Karate.

25.01.2022 Our #kyokushinkids had a great morning learning from Shihan Aaron Field before the adults had their turn for a special gasshu (seminar). We never stop learning (and having fun).

25.01.2022 The #PushUpChallenge 2020 is supporting headspace which provides no- or low-cost mental health services to young Australians. Around 75% of mental ill health presents before the age of 25, and suicide is the leading cause of death in the 15-44 age group, so the mental health of young Australians is of huge national importance. Our Senjo #Kyokushin #karate dojo is raising a new generation of karateka, teaching them the importance of mental and physical resilience.

24.01.2022 The weathers heating up and so is training Lets get ready for summer together, come down to our dojo and work up a sweat before the rising temperatures do it for you !!!

22.01.2022 Our #Kyokushin #kids are continuing their hard work in the dojo on Tuesdays and Thursdays but we still enjoy our Saturdays in the park . Contact us via the details in our bio to join in the fun and fitness !!!

22.01.2022 Im these stressful times that even impact on the youngest of our countrys population, its great to see all these smiling faces. #Kyokushin #karate is a great way to stay healthy in mind and body through exercise, (socially distant) connection, and mental focus.

22.01.2022 Neko ashi dachi or 'cat stance' in it's natural habitat. The majority of weight is on the back leg with only the toes of the front foot on the ground. What's your favorite stance?

22.01.2022 Our kids classes are a great way to learn not just #Kyokushin #Karate but also discipline, self control and respect. Contact us if youd like to see for yourself.

22.01.2022 Thrilled to be back in the dojo, maintaining social distancing but still practising #Kyokushin #Karate which is good for our physical and mental health !!! Come join us to celebrate the partial lifting of restrictions

22.01.2022 Todays #pushupchallenge highlights that up to 66% of Australian adolescents experience sleep disturbance with high rates of insomnia which can dull positive emotions & make it more difficult to regulate negative emotions. Make sure youre getting enough sleep by limiting stimulants like caffeine after lunch, getting sunlight every day, keeping your sleeping environment dark and cool, and getting exercise every day. We find #Kyokushin #karate works for us !!!

21.01.2022 Todays #pushupchallenge is 105: the minutes of bright sunlight that could reduce levels of mental distress. There are a lot of factors that could be at work here to make sunlight a mood booster, including effects on your circadian rhythm, Vitamin D, or just being outside- getting into nature for a few hours per week can also help out your mental health. Thats one of the reasons weve been happy to get back into #Kyokushin #karate training in the park on weekends !!!

20.01.2022 Tuesdays #pushupchallenge highlights that factors such as financial distress, housing insecurity, physical ill health, poor access to mental health services, and greater exposure to crime/incarceration/violence means that people living in areas of the greatest socioeconomic disadvantage are twice as likely to be experiencing psychological distress compared to those in high socioeconomic areas (18.3% vs 9%). Our #Kyokushin #karate dojo is participating in this challenge to help raise funds for the low- and no-cost services provided by Headspace to those in need.

20.01.2022 An average Australian young person spends 1200 hrs on social media per year, over 3hrs/day. While there is some evidence that too much social media can increase stress, a UK study found young people who were online for at least 120 minutes per day felt more connected and supported by their peers. We have used Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Zoom in addition to email & phone calls to stay connected with our #Kyokushin #karate dojo family & friends which has allowed for increased connectedness, sharing of stories and promoting a sense of belonging.

19.01.2022 I'm sure you've all heard that we've recently lost Sean Connery. You may have known him as James Bond or Henry (Indiana) Jones Snr but did you know he was also an honorary Shodan (1st degree black belt) in #Kyokushin #Karate? To see what drew Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure, contact Sensei Eric and come have a go !!!

18.01.2022 Knocked out 210 for #pushupchallenge for the 20.1% of Aussies living with mental ill health, and 45% of us that will experience it at some point. However less than half of those suffering will receive professional care, partially because of the stigma. Our Senjo #Kyokushin #karate dojo supports and encourages us, including to get help when we need it.

17.01.2022 We knocked out another 155 for the #pushupchallenge on Monday, banking a little extra for the 14.8% of Australians living with sleep disruption symptoms severe enough to be classified as chronic insomnia. The close relationship between sleep and mental health poor sleep is associated with a higher risk of poor mental health and many mental health conditions can lead to poorer sleep. Sleep hygiene, mindfulness & relaxation techniques have all been shown to have benefits which is one of the reasons our #Kyokushin #karate dojo practises meditation & breathing exercises on a regular basis.

17.01.2022 Dont forget Karate in the park this weekend

15.01.2022 Saturdays #pushupchallenge of 220 is for the 2.20 million Australians affected by intimate partner violence, which contributes to more illness, disability and deaths than any other risk factor for women aged 1844 years. Research indicates that among Australian women who face a high degree of intimate partner violence, almost 90% will experience mental ill health during their lifetime. If you need assistance for intimate partner violence, you can call 1800RESPECT.

15.01.2022 Kumite is a vital part of #Kyokushin #Karate and we learn as much watching our instructors as we do putting their lessons into practise ourselves. Come and see for yourself, we welcome new starters !!!

15.01.2022 Yesterdays #pushupchallenge represents the 2019 rebate for a clinical psychologist session under the Better Access Scheme, which allows Australians who are experiencing mental ill health and are entitled to Medicare to receive rebates for up to 10 sessions with a mental health professional. There are many different mental health professionals available, and your GP can assist you in finding the right fit. Mental health professionals may recommend treatment of various kinds including therapy, changes in diet, sufficient sleep, and social exercise such as #Kyokushin #Karate.

11.01.2022 Today we are celebrating the birthday of Sosai Mas Oyama, founder of #Kyokushin #Karate On this day in 1923, Masutatsu Oyama (born Choi Young-Eui) came into the world in Gimje, Korea. He would go on to study several styles of Chinese & Japanese martial arts, eventually combining the most effective skills & techniques in Kyokushin development of Kyokushin which is what we practise every day in the Senjo Kyokushin dojo.

10.01.2022 This #pushupchallenge of 157 represents the 15.7% of Australian women who have anxiety-related mental health issues. Anxiety-related conditions are the most common mental health difficulty in Australia, and females experience these conditions at 1.5 x that of males. Treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can be helpful, as some of our #Kyokushinwomen can testify.

10.01.2022 Schools back in and so are we !!! The kids had a great first night in their complimentary dogi Come and join us on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings at the park, message us for more details.

10.01.2022 Improving our Metal health is even more important at the moment. There are so many benefits to participating in Martial Arts and Children can also benefit from this activity. 1) KARATE LESSONS IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH! Karate is a perfect application of the Zen concept Be Here, Now! This is one of the perfect reasons why you should get karate classes for kids. Taking karate lessons will exhaust and push students to their limits. Once students are pushed to the limit, he/she uses 100% of his mental concentration to get results more efficiently. Mastering focus is a great tool a child can use in improving his/her academic performance. It wont be long until we are able to train in the dojo again, why not come and try. Contact us for more information

09.01.2022 The kids are workng hard and having a blast every Tuesday and Thursday learning #Kyokushin #Karate. New starters welcome !!!

09.01.2022 What a great start to the weekend. Welcome to everyone and some new faces this morning. Practicing some basics and mixing it up with running and fitness. Karate Lessons help build self-esteem and strengthen self-confidence A child who is involved in martial arts is generally a child who is confident in himself/herself. Goals give purpose and direction. The sense of accomplishment a child feels by graduating to a new belt will help build his/her self-esteem and confidence. He/she will remember that all things are possible with persistent effort and when you exercise discipline, and karate classes are a perfect way to do this while having heaps of fun. Please message Senjo Brisbane if you have any questions or you are interested in giving it a go.

09.01.2022 The days you dont feel like training are the days you need to go. My sensei once told me this, it got me through my hardest days.

08.01.2022 These students welcomed a splash of color in their lives, grading from white belt to 10th kyu (orange belt) and one proud student from 9th kyu (orange) to 8th kyu (blue). Well done to all who graded. Osu !!!

08.01.2022 REOPENING SALE! We are excited to be back at training and have a special offer for new members - pay for 2 months and train for 3! If you have ever been curious for yourself or your kids, come along and give us a try. Check our opening times for more details or call Sensei Eric on 0413 048 423 or Sempai Liam on 0409 268 912.

06.01.2022 2320 of the total #pushupchallenge represent men who lost their life to suicide in Australia in 2018, over 75% of the total. Women experience mental health issues at higher rates than men, but men are less likely to seek help for them. We are especially grateful for the support our #Kyokushin #karate dojo provides to the men training here. Some spaces within our communities exist especially to support the mental health of the men in our lives, like the Mens Shed and Mensline which is a national service for men providing referrals, counselling and support. Call 1300 78 99 78 (24 hours a day).

06.01.2022 Todays #pushupchallenge represents the reduction in life expectancy for those with mental ill heath, likely due to medication side effects, cigarette & alcohol use, social stigma, poor physical health and social isolation. People with a diagnosis of mental illness are at much higher risk of physical diseases such as diabetes, lung disease, cancer and heart disease. We can support both mental & physical health with exercise, learning, social interaction and mindfulness with #Kyokushin #karate with our dojo.

05.01.2022 Todays #pushupchallenge of 125 stands for the daily glycaemic load of a low-GI diet, which has been reported to lower mood disturbance, reduce depressive-type symptoms and lower levels of fatigue. Sweet potatoes, multigrain bread and basmati rice are all examples of low-GI foods which still provide energy for your #Kyokushin #karate training !!!

05.01.2022 It was with great joy our #Kyokushin #karate dojo met in the park for our first group session since the lock down. We finished with the #pushupchallenge goal of 169 to reflect the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders suicides in 2018.

04.01.2022 Sempai Kristina is excited to see you at Kids Karate in the park again tomorrow morning at 8am! We look forward to seeing those from last week and new faces too! Look out for our dojo sign and please message the senjo brisbane if you have any further questions. Please make sure your child has enclosed shoes and please bring them a water bottle and towel. Osu!

03.01.2022 The Senjo Brisbane #Kyokushin #Karate dojo completed the 100 Kata Challenge, executing the kata in different directions to test our brains as much as our bodies. Come and join today so we can do it together next year !!!

03.01.2022 We are immensely proud of these two karate-ka who have been training for over a year and were successfully awarded their 10th kyu (Orange belt) this weekend. Few children their age could keep their eye on the goal and continue to work hard while patiently waiting for the opportunity to grade for so long but thats the #Kyokushin difference. Please join us in congratulating these #Karatekids and if youd like to build the same discipline and perseverance in your own, feel free to join us in the dojo for the new term !!!

03.01.2022 No kids karate in the park tomorrow. You are welcome to join us in the dojo. Training begins at 8am. See you there

02.01.2022 Around 1.8M young Aussies have insufficient social support. The impact of loneliness and social isolation can lead to developing mental & physical ill health. Young Australians report the highest rates of loneliness, despite often being in contact with large numbers of people every day at school, university, or work. We often missed our #Kyokushin #karate family even when weve been able to see family and friends during the recent lockdowns. Virtual training hasnt always been easy, but has allowed us to stay connected even during these difficult times, when that connection is all the more important.
