22.01.2022 MISOGI SHUHO The sacred technology of Misogi-Shuho represents the Genius of Shinto. Origin and Purpose of Misogi Izanagi-no-OKami (Kami who created solar-system... and ancestor Kami of all on Earth) conducted the first Misogi-Shuho following his visit to the Yomi (world of death). His purpose was to wash away defilement, cleanse his body from pollutants and to perform the purification of his august person. Prior to entering the Tachibana River to cleanse completely Izanagi-no-Mikoto rid himself of all his possessions..as he was being pursued by elements of impurity from the Underworld he first through his tsue (staff).from that staff SARUTAHIKO-NO-O-KAMI was born. This is why SARUTAHIKONO-O-KAMI is also known as DOUSOUJIN, Kami of the Way, Path and Kami to protect the Path. FUNADO-NO-OU-KAMI, Kami to protect crossroads, KUNADO-NO-SAHE-NO-KAMI, Kami to Protect , ward off misfortune.Sarutahiko-no-O-Kami has many other names as well. Then Izanagi-no-O-Kami threw away all his Jewelry and clothing into the river as they were also contaminated by impurities. These articles became the twelve Kami who protect the directions in which people live, travel, work and conduct business.. Then after finding the spot in the river not to swift and not to slow Izanagi-no-O-Kami entered the river to purify himself.many Kami were created from this act, many Kami of wrongdoing as well as Kami to rectify wrongdoing originated during this first Misogi. Then when Izanagi-no-Ou-Kami washed his face AMATERASU-OMIKAMI (Heaven Shining Great August Deity, Sun Kami ) was born from his left eye. From his right eye was created TSUKIYOMI-NO-MIKOTO (Augustness Moon Night Posessor, Moon Kami) and from his nose appeared SUSA-NO-MIKOTO (Brave Swift Impetuous Male Deity, Kami of Stars). Amaterasu-OmiKami is responsible for the Sun, the source of our life power, Tsukiyominomikoto is responsible for night and quietness and growth and Susanomikoto is responsible for rhythmic movement of earth as Kami of Stars. These Kami, born through the first Misogi are responsible for the three heavenly light sources..sun, moon and stars. Before the first Misogi, Izanaginomikoto rid himself of possessions and attachments.. to purify from attachment is the 1st element of Misogi. Self reflection is the 2nd element. In order to do Misogi Izanaginomikoto chose the part of the stream that was not to swift and not to sluggishthe Middle Way is the 3rd aspect of purification. The 4th element is to check constantly and correct thouroughly. The 5th element is inner willingness and sincere effort. The 6th element is completeness. How to Prepare Yourself Before Misogi ShuHo When arriving at the shrine please quiet your Mind and Spirit to prepare for Misogi Shuho Misogi Shuho is the sacred activity meant to teach us: Help us to live every day fully How to pray sincerely to fulfill your wishes How to choose the most correct life path How to work for the benefit of Humanity and the World How to help assist in purifying Tsumi/Kegare (negativity and minus KI) How to pray for health of our family How to find right livelihood How to pass through critical junctures How to solve problems Through Misogi we can learn to harmonize with the KI of Heaven and Earth and the KI of protection ---my late teacher Yamamoto Yukitaka Sendai Guji was really quite clear that Misogi shuho was the best way to enhance ones spirituality and increase ones ability to respond to divine nature ....taking his words to heart I have practiced Misogi Shuho each day without fail for 23 years (I began training in Misogi Shuho in the 1970's but have trained each morning since 1992) ---please read KAMI NO MICHI, hard copies available from Tsubaki America Jinja and online version of Jinja website www.Tsubakishrine.org regarding details of Misogi Jumbi Taiso/ preparatory exercises and manner of doing....also this Tsubaki Jinja Shinto FaceBook page file section has the file of simplified shower misogi practice.....these photos are of Ibuki Undo which is practiced as Shin Kokyu by Aiki practitioners......

20.01.2022 Pumpkin Seeds are one of nature’s most nourishing foods. They contain high amounts of vitamin E, B-complex, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids. Pumpkin se...eds are essential for men’s health and provide significant protection for the prostate gland. They are an excellent source of tryptophan which is critical for good quality sleep and for keeping anxiety and depression at bay. The B-complex vitamins in pumpkin seeds work as co-factors in the body to help reduce cholesterol and enhance GABA activity which is also known to reduce anxiety and neurological disorders. Pumpkin seeds also contain anti-inflammatory properties which provide benefit for those that suffer with chronic inflammation such as in sinusitis, arthritis, bursitis, and other autoimmune disorders. Pumpkin seeds have high concentrations of phytosterols that can help to inhibit the absorption of cholesterol in the gastrointestinal tract which ultimately can help reduce the bad cholesterol in the body. Pumpkin Seeds have also been known to prevent kidney stones and osteoporosis. Pumpkin seed butter is a great and tasty alternative to peanut butter and can be found online and in most health food stores. Raw pumpkin seeds will provide you with the most nutrition and health benefits. Try sprinkling them on salads, adding them to trail mixes, or chop them with dates to make your own healthy energy bars. See more

This year in the late summer the soil part of the year seems to have come early, must be the year of the horse the year wants to gallop on at pace. I have noticed my knees are getting there yearly soreness early. Yes I get sore spots on my lower knees very irritating it is too, especially when I need to be in seiza (kneeling) to perform shiatsu. Very typical of the organ (spleen) involved at this time of year (being Soil)shows up as knee pain. 13.01.2022 Wonduful message about a whole practice. The wonder of brown rice.

07.01.2022 How I discovered shiatsu Its not so much how I discovered shiatsu, but it was a natural coming together. Let me explain: some 11 years ago I started my practice in Aikido at the Shin Sen Dojo, I did not realise at the time but many traditional arts are practiced at this dojo including shiatsu. It was about 2 years after I had number of minor ailments and I couldn’t figure out why I had them. A fellow aikidoist suggested I should get a treatment from sensei. So I had a few tre...atments with great results, I loved it from the beginning and my sensei suggested that I get regular shiatsus and the best way to do that was to do the three year course on offer in the dojo. So eventually that’s what I did. I qualified in July 2008. Currently I work mobile, that is I go to my clients. I bring my futon and put it in a suitable place for a treatment. The beauty of it is that clients can create their own atmosphere and do not have to go anywhere afterward. Currently I do some 10 hours of shiatsu per week and I am looking to build on that number. Shiatsu is the perfect therapy to get you feeling well within yourself, it can be like a natural high. The reason being that to have points (tsubos) pressed during a shiatsu, on the bodies meridians releases many hormones produced by different glands and organs. This creates a release of hormones that can make you feel really content and soft afterwards and this in turn creates great healing and transformation within the body. For example have you ever felt really depleted and lacked the energy to get up and go when you really needed it, well shiatsu can restore that vital feeling and help you replenish your mojo so to speak. Well in oriental medicine there is a deep understanding of ki, energy or life force. Shiatsu makes use of the bodies energy pathways, called meridians. By having points (tsubos) pressed along the meridians unblocks stagnated ki energy and moves this energy into empty tsubos. This process stimulates a natural healing in the body, creating a feeling of wellbeing. Because there is ki stimulation many people feel a surge of energy after a shiatsu. See more

07.01.2022 The Wonder of Buckwheat It's been quite a drawn out summer, before I posted that we had gone into soil time but nature has decided otherwise and reverted back to the hot Fire weather. My observations around this time are that those of us affected in this time are there heart/fire constitution types. A friend of mine who trains with me at the "ShinSen Dojo" like me suffers from a yang heart commonly known as hyper tension we both suffer in this heat, and both prefer to train i...n the cooler months. A food that I have recently been drawn to is buckwheat, I can't seem to get enough of it , and I ate it for a week, a bit like the brown rice diet except with buckwheat. It coincided with a visit to the doctor to have my blood pressure checked, and to my surprise my BP was at an acceptable level on the high side by medical standards. I put it down to the recent Buckwheat diet. See more

01.01.2022 Today I thought I'd share with you The KID FRIENDLY KRAUT.. We know how beneficial SAUERKRAUT is for our Gut microbiome.. this is why we encourage a serve every...day on the 10 week program.. Below we have some great pics from the tribe making their own version of.. What is your fav creative combo? Tell us below Tag and share x www.thepaleoway.com 400 g red cabbage 350 g green cabbage 250 g carrots 2 red apples, core removed 2 teaspoons juniper berries 1 teaspoons sea salt sachet vegetable starter culture You will need a 1.5 litre preserving jar with an airlock lid for this recipe. Wash the jar and all utensils with very hot water to sterilise, or alternatively put them through the hot rinse cycle in a dishwasher without adding any detergent. Select a fresh, unblemished cabbage and remove the outer leaves then wash it well then set aside. Shred the cabbage, apples and carrots in a food processor in alternate batches so that all ingredients are mixed together thoroughly, then transfer them to a large glass or stainless steel mixing bowl. You can also use a mandolin slicer or sharp knife. Sprinkle the salt over the vegetables and mix well. Cover the bowl with a plate while you prepare the starter culture according to the directions on the packet. Next, add the starter culture (pre-dissolved in filtered water) to your bowl and mix again thoroughly. Using a large spoon or the Culture For Life tamper, fill the sterilised jar with the vegetable mix ensuring that it is compressed between additions, in order to remove air pockets, leaving approximately 2 cm of space at the top of the jar. If using a Culture For life jar the ceramic presser will make it easy to work with the fill level. The vegetables will be tightly packed into the jar, submerged in the liquid that rises up over them as they are packed in. If you don’t have enough liquid to cover the vegetables, add some filtered water. Take the clean outer cabbage leaf, fold it and place it on top of the vegetables before adding a small glass weight to keep everything submerged. If using the Culture For Life jar this step won’t be necessary as the jar has an inbuilt system to keep the vegetables submerged. Wrap a towel around your jar to block out the light, leaving the airlock exposed, then store the jar in a dark place with a temperature of 1623C for1014 days. (You can place the jar in an esky to maintain a more consistent temperature.) Different vegetables have different culturing times and the warmer it is the shorter the time needed. The longer you leave it, the higher the level of good bacteria and the tangier the flavour. Chill before eating. Once opened, the kraut will last for up to 2 months in the fridge when kept submerged in liquid. If unopened, it will keep for up to 9 months in the fridge. Serve at least one teaspoon of kraut on the side with lunches and kids dinners.
