25.01.2022 5 years ago yesterday we launched on the Gold Coast in our old Ashmore Dojo! So much has changed since then. We moved to our current Varsity location, welcomed new students to our family, said goodbye to others, witnessed some amazing gradings and personal growth by many! One thing that hasnt changed and never will however is the genuine family culture that we maintain in our organisation and are so proud to be part of! We cant wait for the next 5 years and see where we are... at the 10 year milestone! 19.01.2022 In all things combat remember these simple principles; Quickness not speed, Power not Strength. Below is the sequence of what Sensei is demonstrating with intent. 1. Left haymaker strike is thrown.... 2. Simultaneous defence utilising a right hammerfist/ knifehand to the attacking arm and left hammerfist/ backfist or knifehand to the rib cage. 3. Right knifehand to the carotid artery or hammerfist to the mandible/ jaw-hinge quickly followed by a left palm strike to the opponents face. 4. Finish with a right hammer first/ backfist or knife hand to the chest, throat, sternum or groin. 5. Create a safe distance/ reactionary gap and reassess the situation/ negotiate. See more

17.01.2022 Honour can only ever be lost through our own actions and never because of the actions of others. Sensei Shayne Findlay What is Honour?... Unfortunately in today’s society, Honour seems to be somewhat of a forgotten value and is rarely taught as a core value of ones character and upbringing. Honour is often misunderstood within different circles of both those who concern themselves as warriors and also those not involved in the world of martial arts and is manipulated to justify some notion of revenge. These individuals or groups or people do not see the distinction between Honour and saving face and feel as if their Honour has been taken from them on account of the actions or words of others. Honour, however, cannot be taken from you by an insult. It can be thrown away by believing the insults and taking revenge but it can never be taken away from you. Instead, Honour is a value that resides within you and is demonstrated in how you respond to others. Understand this - Respond appropriately and never react. Honour can only ever be lost through our own actions and never because of the actions of others. True Honour involves compassion and respect towards all people, the courage to do what is right, loyalty to all who have helped us, justice but not revenge, and sincerity without causing harm. To be Honourable, one must discern what is the "right thing to do" and then do it. To be Honourable one must demonstrate Integrity, Respect, Courage, Compassion, Honesty & Sincerity, Duty & Loyalty - This is the Bushido Code and at the very core of my teachings in Senshido Martial Arts. Practice this in your everyday walk of life, in your relationships with others and above all in your own personal actions, convictions and Faith. Be wise in your dealings with others and remain vigilant in your actions. Do this and your Honour will remain in good standing and be well known to others. 17.01.2022 #Flashback _ Blue Belt Grading 2016 Taking us back to July 2016 when Senseis apprentice; Osman Noonan completed his Blue Belt grading under extreme conditions with a dislocated knee he sustained during his warm-up! Ogi has come so far since then and will be looking to complete his next grading for Red Belt in 2020. ... This grading consisted of the below; Warm up: 75x Push-ups, sit-ups, squats, star-jumps and burpees within the allocated 15 minute timeframe. Self-Defence: 40x rapid fire rounds against multiple opponents both armed and unarmed. (A round is not completed until it has been effectively resolved) Pad work: 6x 2 minute continuous rounds. (Back to back) Grappling: 6x 3 minute continuous rounds. (Back to back) Sparring: 10x 3 minute full contact continuous rounds against a fresh Black Belt each round. (Back to back) Amazing Effort Osman. A very proud day for all involved.

Senshido is not limited to an organisation nor does it belong in a metaphorical box. Senshido represents much more than a style of Martial Arts and that of our highly regarded sister organisation; Senshido Training & Consulting which together form the Senshido Australia Group as it is known currently. Senshido represents a way of living, a moral compass if you will, that we can each choose to apply in our lives regardless of the environment we find ourselves in. When we face these difficult times ultimately we are all left with the same choice: Will you choose to respond in a manner that empowers you to embrace that challenge, to rise above your circumstance, to persevere and to demonstrate courage, bravery, honesty and zest?... or, Will you choose to let your circumstance dictate who you believe you are and how others will perceive you? Will you let it affect the way in which you treat others? Will you let it define you? You see, times of crisis and uncertainty do not make us who we are, rather the way in which we CHOOSE to act and behave during these times only reveal who we already were. Of course their are times that we all face that are not in our control. Things happen which we couldnt have known to plan for at the appropriate level.
