25.01.2022 This is for all those installers familiar with the Jokab Safety safety controller. The EDEN safety gate switches were first designed to work only with the Jokab Safety Vital 1 controller and Pluto Safety PLC. Since the company was taken over by ABB, new and exciting versions have been released. The EDEN switches now can work with third-party safety relay and controllers. There is now an OSSD version which can be connected to any safety PLC or safety relay that can accept th...e output from a standard safety light curtain. Various models are available - one which can be connected in series and still reach the highest level of safety., For the AS-I experts, there is also the EDEN-AS-I which can be used on ASI-SAFE networks. 23.01.2022 Eden is a non-contact safety sensor used as an interlocking device for e.g. doors and safe position monitoring. Eden consists of two parts: Adam and Eva. Adam senses the presence of Eva without mechanical contact and therefore without any wear. How cute are Adam and Eva?! The highly innovative and successful EDEN safety gate proximity switch first sold in Australia in 2004. The original EDEN sensors were designed specifically to work the Vital Safety Safety Controller. It was... later tuned to work with the Pluto Safety Relay. What's new is that we now have new versions suitable for AS-I Safety and also standard safety relays. These are the EDEN-AS-I and EDEN-OSSD. The new versions now mean that the very effective EDEN proximity switches can now be used with non-ABB-JOKAB SAFETY equipment. This is great news! 07.01.2022 There are two types of Emergency Stops: 1. Push to stop, pull to release 2. Push to stop, twist to release... They come without instructions to activate the emergency stop as they rely on natural human reaction - which is to PUSH the red button to stop. The twist to release E-Stops have arrows showing the user to twist. Should someone "think" before they act, it is likely that they would twist the button in an emergency situation. It is mandatory to include instructions on how to de-activate the stop button and this is why the arrows are there. Design standard EN IEC60947-5-5, 4.2.1 - "The direction of unlatching shall be clearly identified when resetting is achieved by rotation of the button." Should we be questioning this design standard?
