18.01.2022 Fires are burning in our region a few days into spring. We recently worked out north west of Kyogle, an area that typically receives plenty of rain. Whilst installing next boxes in this area, the state of the forest was scary! The trees on the ridges were sparse and the grass was either yellow or dust. We stood in a dry creek filled with leaves saying this is a catastrophe waiting to happen. Two days later the fires started.

14.01.2022 This large Norfolk Pine was badly damaged by the hail storm of November 2017. The owners wanted to remove it straight after the storm as it was hit hard. We convinced them to keep it and nurture it and it had a good chance to come back. It started to show signs of recover with new shoots but this year it has had a further major decline due to heat and drought so removal was required

14.01.2022 We are at the beach today, but not for leisure. We are doing hazard reduction on the dunes. It’s a tricky job with many considerations to address. If you’ve got dangerous or complex tree issues give Sentinel Tree Care a call

12.01.2022 We have had the pleasure of installing nest boxes for a project aiming to connect Toonumbar NP to Boarder Ranges NP. The project has installed nest boxes in rural schools through that areas also in an effort to education and inspire the youth of the region too. The project will install more than 200 boxes through this area linking patches of forest.

07.01.2022 Here is a project responding to the bushfires in the Byron Shire. The Mt Nardi bushfires burnt 5,500 hectares including habitat for endangered wildlife at Upper... Coopers Creek inland from Byron Bay. The Rainforest 4 Foundation has responded by organising the planting of 100,000 rainforest trees and needs your help. Please donate now at https://bit.ly/3aeHUng Unprecedented bushfires occurred in Northern NSW inland from Byron Bay in November and December 2019 and were named the Mt Nardi fires. In extreme conditions, the fire burnt the edge of the rainforest and in some place’s rainforest itself. Now that the fires have been extinguished and rain has come we are ready for recovery actions. Our established rainforest restoration projects will re-establish habitat for endangered wildlife at Upper Coopers Creek, inland from Byron Bay.
