23.01.2022 A big congratulations to our Senior Remote Sensing Analyst Dr Mehdi Ravanbakhsh, who's paper titled: 'Automated fish detection in underwater images using shape-based level sets' has been awarded the EH Thompson award by the prestigious Photogrammetric Record Journal. Outstanding achievements by Mehdi and fellow authors and a significant achievement for our work on Sentinel VDS. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com//home/eh_thompson_award.htm ... #remotesensing #sharkdetection #innovation #science
22.01.2022 Whether you’re surfing, diving, swimming or just frolicking, we want all ocean users (and sharks!) to feel safe. We’ll be continuously bringing you the latest updates on our development process and field trips via our social media feeds & website so stay tuned! #Sharks #Drones #Innovation #SharkWatch #SharkSmart
20.01.2022 Fantastic to see Clever Buoy being trialled at City Beach this summer - https://news.wa.gov.au/shark-detection-trial-to-start-soon/ #SharkDetection #Perth #WesternAustralia #Innovation
16.01.2022 Know the risks this summer & stay safe shark smart info can be found at: www.sharksmart.com.au/staying-safe/ #SharkSmart #Sharks #Australia #Summer
15.01.2022 In October 2016 the Sentinel VDS team visited Shark Bay to trial our automated shark detection software. Using imagery captured via our purpose built UAV, this video shows the software detecting a 3.5m tiger shark whilst in ‘training’ mode. Scenes from this data have been used as a training set to improve the detection software. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yRLFXUJ3QQ... #SharkDetection #Innovation #Drones #TigerShark #SharkWatch
10.01.2022 What’s better than finding a shark...? TWO sharks!! Making us very happy right now #SharkSmart #SharkWatch #DronesforSharkDetection #SentinelVDS #innovation #WesternAustralia #NSW #Sharks
09.01.2022 We're sharing some of the video footage we captured during our latest data capture field trip to Shark Bay! Pretty stoked to get two sharks in the frame! All of the data collected is being used by our remote sensing analysts to further advance our species detection software. We'll continue bringing you updates of the development & footage along the way! #SharkWatch #Drones #SharkDetection #WesternAustralia #Innovation
08.01.2022 We’re all about non-invasive shark detection! #Innovation #SharkDetection #Sharks #Drones #UAV #WesternAustralia
08.01.2022 Australia is home to more than a quarter of the world's shark and ray fauna. As top predators in the marine ecosystem, these species are vital to maintaining healthy oceans, which is why we're developing a non-invasive, intelligent shark detection platform. #SharkSmart #SharkWatch #DronesforSharkDetection

06.01.2022 We're extremely excited to announce the successful completion of our first prototype field trial for Sentinel VDS - our intelligent automated shark detection system using UAVs. The field trip allowed us to capture enough data to firstly confirm, and secondly improve upon the veracity of our detection software. 04.01.2022 To further develop our detection software we need to ensure that it works seamlessly in varying conditions. This particular video shows one of our detection trials set against environmental and operational conditions in this instance solar glare and surface reflection. The results of this trial will be used as a basis for improving sensor configuration and post-process filtering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqFj85jAXS0 ... #SharkDetection #Drones #Sharks
02.01.2022 Great feature in The West Australian today! We're gearing up for operational trials in 2017! https://thewest.com.au//eye-in-sky-gives-edge-to-shark-wat... #SharkWatch #Drones #Surfing #WesternAustralia #Technology
