24.01.2022 Meet BOB aka Black out Buster. Just finished assisting KMN Electrics & Air Conditioning installing 3x BOB3000 at Petra Equipment to keep the business online incase of a blackout. Had a lot of fun working on something this exciting!
24.01.2022 This is a medical centre fit-out that I did with my good friend Hytham from KMN Electrics & Air Conditioning. 4 IP VIP Vision Cameras WatchGuard 4 Channel NVR + monitor A freestanding comms rack... Data cabling Cat 6 Patch panel I love working with people who take pride in their work. If you are ever in need of electrical services try KMN Eelectrics. Unbelievable skill and work ethic.
24.01.2022 Today I completed the rollout of a Synology NAS box for a client. Specs: Synology 918+ with upgraded 8GB of RAM... 4x 4TB Seagate Iron Wolf NAS hard drives in Raid 10 configuration (approx. 8TB of usable space) Google cloud backup to ensure they have an off-site copy of their data and databases. I chose Raid 10 so they can have the redundancy of Raid 1 and the performance of Raid 0. I migrated all their existing data from a single hard drive (no backup or redundancy) onto the new storage box. They now also get snapshots of their data every 30 minutes so they have access to change data every 30 minutes. All users now have access to the new share via a mapped drive. If you think your business could use a solution like this contact Sentry Tech for a no obligation free quote.

22.01.2022 Exciting new store opening soon next to the new Woolworths complex in Prestons/Edmondson Park. Performed a rough-in of Data/CCTV and Alarm cable. KMN Electrics & Air Conditioning did the electrical rough-in and a fantastic job at that. If you notice no ethernet or security cable runs parallel at close distance to any plumbing or electrical cable to minimise interference (following the AS/CA S009:2013 standard). Everything was planned out to ensure the customer gets the best performance from the install according to Australian standards.
21.01.2022 A nice install for a client's factory. 3x Dahua cameras with a Dahua NVR. A Bosch Solution 3000 alarm system with internet module and roller door reed.
20.01.2022 A video showing one of my latest projects. Installation of security system, home theatre, audio ambience, comms rack, data cabling/points and audio ambience throughout the house.

In goes a Cat6 patch panel, a TP-Link gigabit switch and two cable managers. I relocated the modem and NAS box to the cabinet also.... I do love a neat comms cabinet!
13.01.2022 I had a customer who was renovating their property in Rose Bay and decided that while they are renovating they may as well add some extra audio visual Tech to give the house some extra class. They didn't just want looks but a true cinematic experience. So in go 11 klipsch in-ceiling speakers for audio ambience and another 5 in-ceiling Klipsch adjustable home theatre speakers, a klipsch 110SW subwoofer, a Denon X3500H receiver, a Denon HEOS drive 4 zone audio amp and a Denon HS2 1 zone HS2 amp and a 75" Samsung 4k TV. 10.01.2022 So a couple of months back I was called in by another security company to assist in meeting a deadline of rolling out 55+ cameras and access control. I installed over 40 Axis IP Cameras 4 Cisco 24 port switches 30 Gallagher IO boards for access control (lockers)... 8 Maglocks Over 250 locker magnets Over 20 proximity card readers Over 20 T20 and T15 locker access panels Over 20 doors strikes Lots of soldering and heat shrink too! Sure my field is not access control but I had a great mentor. Let me tell you the mothership was impressed with the little amount of mistakes in my workmanship and so was I
10.01.2022 I replaced an existing alarm system today that was shorted during a storm with a Bosch Solution 3000 alarm panel, 3 Bosch TouchOne 7 inch screens and 6 quad PIR alarm sensors. The beautiful 7 inch screens are a compliment to such a gorgeous contemporary home. It was great to know the owners love their new stylish alarm system LCD screens.
08.01.2022 I was tasked by one of my clients to build a machine for their NextGen phone system after their existing machine failed due to overheating. I discussed the minimum system requirements with the vendor and off I went to carefully select parts and construct the new system. Using the Red Team's AMD processor (Go AMD!!!!) I built them a budget machine (Believe me when I say it does not perform like budget machine) with the following specs: - Fractal Design Core 1100 Micro-ATX towe...r - Team Reds AMD Ryzen 3 2200g CPU - Gigabyte Micro-ATX motherboard - 8GB DDR4 of Kingston RAM - 240GB Kingston SSD - 1TB WD Hard Drive - 450w Corasair Power Supply - Windows 10 Pro 64 bit The end result was a classy compact build that performs great and compliments the office space nicely. If you need a machine feel free to contact me for any specific requirements have.
07.01.2022 Did a cable cleanup on approx. 30 machines for a client. The cables were just hanging off the desks either from the back or the front, real messy. Drilled holes through desks and installed desk grommets for the cables. Rerouted all the cables using Velcro and mounted the power boards under the desks. A much tidier solution.
07.01.2022 Love Trantech, these guys are great! I get all my gear from here!
03.01.2022 The Anatomy of a Burglar Alarm (Part 1) So what are the basics (barebones) of a burglar alarm? The basic alarm system comprises of the following parts:... - Keypad (input device) - Alarm Panel (Control panel) - Motion Detectors (PIR) - Siren/Strobe (External siren and flashing light) - Piezo (Internal siren also known as a Screamer) The standard alarm keypad is used to perform basic functions like programming, arming and disarming your system but can also be used to display the system status of the alarm system. More advanced keypads usually look more aesthetically pleasing, have larger displays, larger buttons and are capable of displaying more information like Zone names, more descriptive fault messages and other types of information. They may also have Wi-Fi built into the keypad allowing you to control your alarm system from your mobile phone via an app. These do however come at a more premium price point. Stay tuned for the next part...
03.01.2022 So I stumbled upon this beauty and when I saw it I was like The business owner asked if I can do a bit of a tidy up. Time for a Sentry Tech makeover!... Need to order some patch leads, a compressed air can or two, already have the cable ties/Velcro and a semi-damp cloth as water and Comms equipment don't mix! Will post back once I have cleaned it up! Sometimes I wonder how people can do this type of work ? So I visited the client in the afterhours and managed to do a tidy up on their comms rack. It is much tidier now and the client is extremely happy!
03.01.2022 Demonstration of my latest surround sound project!
03.01.2022 So Thai Me in Liverpool was renovating a while back and I wasn't really posting my work or writing out my thoughts on Facebook at the time so I hadn't really put anything up. Here I am playing catch up so you will be seeing some of my past jobs being posted. So in I went to install the client supplied IP cameras and NVR.... 14 cameras and one Bosch Solution alarm system with 4 sensors later Also such is the nature of our gracious client/host I left there 10kg's heavier because of all the delicious drinks and Thai food. They make one mean Laksa
02.01.2022 Just installed this Bosch Solution 6000 alarm system for a customer. 8 sensors, two key fobs and two keypads. Awesome job swapping out an older DSC alarm system that had died in one of Sydney's wild weather storms. Contact Sentry Tech to see how we can help you with your alarm service or upgrade.
02.01.2022 A bit of lite humour!
01.01.2022 The Anatomy of a Burglar Alarm (Part 1) continued... Next we have the Alarm Control Panel (System board). The control panel is the brains of the system. This is where all the programming instructions and configuration settings are stored. The case that houses the control panel also houses the battery which keeps the alarm system on in the event of a power failure keeping you secure (for a limited amount of hours).... It is recommended that you have your battery tested every 6 months and changed every 12 months. The control panel is considered a centralised location where all the cables are meet back to this location. The following items connect back to the control panel: - Piezo/screamer - PIR Sensors (motion detectors) - Keypads - Siren/Strobe light - Other devices such as wireless devices for key fobs/remotes Coming up in the next post "PIR Sensors (Motion Detectors)"...
01.01.2022 The Anatomy of a Burglar Alarm (Part 1) continued... Siren & Strobe light. The siren and strobe is installed externally and is usually placed on the eaves or on a outside wall of a property.... It is one unit that includes both the siren and strobe light (flashing light). The siren makes just that a siren noise and the strobe light flashes if the alarm system is triggered. The light is generally blue but has been known to come in other colours like red. Inside this box you will also find something called a tamper. This will trigger the alarm system if someone tries to remove the siren/strobe of the eaves or wall. Today I see a lot of installers that tend to not install the tampers as they consider them troublesome but I do recommend that they be connected especially if the siren/strobe is easily accessible.
01.01.2022 The Anatomy of a Burglar Alarm (Part 1) continued... So how does a burglar alarm detect an intruder? Motion Sensors!... We have two types of sensors: 1. Active motion sensors &; 2. Passive motion sensors Active Motion Sensors These put out a signal that is broken when someone moves about. The sensor is triggered and then the alarm is triggered. They often use radar technology to send out ultrasonic waves. Passive Motion Sensors (PIR Sensor short for Passive Infrared Sensor) are the most commonly used motion detectors for both homes and commercial premises. These types of sensors pick up infrared radiation detecting body heat and sudden temperature changes. These sensors need correct placement as they are sensitive to abnormal temperature changes so they need to be placed away from heaters, ovens and heating vents. Sensors should be installed near entries, exits and most access walkways. If you have pets you should buy pet friendly sensors to avoid the alarm system being triggered. To be continued Siren & Strobe Light...
