20.01.2022 Dear friends, We are delighted to announce that our choir, Serbian Choral Society of Melbourne, is the recipient of Victorias Multicultural Award for Excellence 2015 in the category of Award for Meritorious Service to the Community (Organisations). Only four organisations received this prestigious award this year. We are very proud that our efforts in nurturing, presenting and sharing the Serbian choral tradition with other cultures in Australia have been recognised by the ...Victorian Government. Serbian Choral Society received the award "for sharing the Serbian culture with Melbourne, and their cooperation with other Serbian and ethnic choirs, artistic and folk groups including Greek, Antiochian, Russian and the Romanian Orthodox Church." The awards were presented in a special ceremony at Government House on Thursday 3rd December, 2015. The people who received the award on behalf of the choir were Dragana Ivanovic, our supporter who nominated the choir for the award, and Sinisa Duboka and Rajko Vukcevic, members of the choir. The most deserving of this honour, our conductor and artistic director Sanja Drljaca, regrettably could not be present at the award ceremony since, on the same day, she and our choir were engaged in another event with a view of sharing Serbian culture, tradition and history with other Australian communities, the Commemoration of 70 Years since the Liberation of Extermination Camp Jasenovac. MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER: "Victoria is home to a rich diversity of cultures, languages and faiths. This diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Victorias Multicultural Awards for Excellence are an important way for the Victorian Government and the Victorian Multicultural Commission to publically acknowledge Victorians who embrace our diversity. Now in their 14th year, these awards pay tribute to those individuals, communities and organisations who contribute to our successful multicultural and inclusive society. I commend and congratulate all recipients for their hard work, dedicated service and achievements over the past year." The Hon. Robin Scott MP Minister for Multicultural Affairs
20.01.2022 Serbian Choral Society - Melbourne had the honour to attend in a special guest performance, in support of K.U.D. KOLO's 2014 "A Tour of the Balkans" Concert, on October 12th at the Dandenong Drum Theatre. We trust that all who had the chance to attend this fantastic cultural event, had a fabulous night and enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Well done KOLO and well done to all our members!

19.01.2022 Greetings everyone. T-minus 4 days to go and, as you can imagine, the excitement and mild jitters are growing! PLEASE NOTE that we're hosting an after-party to which you're all invited post-concert. Details: Club "SOKOL" 497 Queensberry Street North Melbourne 3051... There'll be music, drinks and nibblies, and we'll all get an opportunity to mingle and celebrate together, ending the night with a bang! 17.01.2022 Dear friends, we are happy to announce that The Serbian Choral Society will be appearing at the Annual Metropolitanate Day Special Event- to be held 5 September Zinc @ Federation Square. According to the ancient custom of the Orthodox Church, each diocese celebrates as its own patron saint the one by which its bishop received his monastic name. Thus, in Australia and New Zealand, we celebrate Saint Irenaeus of Lyon as our Patron Saint. The Serbian Choral Society, masterfully ...conducted by Melbourne based Sanja Drljaca will perform a spiritual and uplifted repertoire which will include special tributes to the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC Battle at Gallipoli. Along with our very own performance, the program includes other talented members of our community including Anja and Zlatna, Ursular Yovich and Darko Kolosov. Together we will unite to showcase our beautiful Serbian culture, religion and history. Thee evening will also feature two visual artists, Mirjana Margetic, and our very own Choir member Billjana Klaric. We will also have the privilege to see a commemorative WW1 display, for which the choir will emphasise during our repertoire. 11.01.2022 Serbian Choral Society of Melbourne were invited to perform as one of three choirs at two Easter celebration concerts at two different Christian Orthodox parishes in Melbourne. The first of the concerts, 3rd of May 2015, saw a wonderful collaboration of the Serbian Choral Society choir and two others, the St Romanos the Melodist and David the Psalmist choirs. It was a truly magical night spiritually, musically and culturally enriching for all.
