25.01.2022 When I was studying at Design school, the common feedback from my educators and classmates was that my work had a classic and distinct feminine touch. My feminine flair was becoming so evident that many could easily identify my work without knowing first hand who was behind it. So styling a room with a distinct masculine interior pushes me outside my comfort zone. I used a mix of styles to create this eclectic look including a Contemporary sofa, Rustic timber furniture, Industrial inspired art work and clean and minimal furniture reminiscent of the Mid-Century modern era. I was thrilled with the outcome of this front sitting room which clearly caters for the man of the house as he sits back to enjoy his cigar and whiskey
25.01.2022 FURNITURE PLACEMENT|| As part of our styling service, Serene Styling also gives our Clients great tips on how to rearrange furniture. A simple repositioning of a bed and existing furniture can make such a huge difference in making a room look more inviting and spacious. Check out how we transformed this once dark room into a bright and airy kid’s bedroom.
24.01.2022 SERENE STYLING TIPS || VIGNETTES There are so many aspects of my job that I love, but one of my favourite things is creating vignettes. If you don’t know what a vignette is, don’t worry as you’re not alone. Many of my Clients don’t know either, let alone how to pronounce it. A vignette (pronounced vin-yet) has a French origin and is a short descriptive scene. It can be applied to literature, poetry, photography and decoration. In the decorating scene, it simply means a group...ing of objects. In this photo, I created two types of vignettes. The first is the grouping of accessories and decorations on the console table. I often create similar looks for coffee, bedside tables and kitchen benches. But the other vignette is the overall shot which includes the entire grouping of the clock, easy chair, table, lamp, rug, books and accessories. You can create your own clustering of your favourite items and the best part is experimenting with pieces you already own. So stay tuned for more tips and tricks on how to create your own vignette. But just a word of warning... once you start you might not be able to stop!!!
20.01.2022 Styling rooms for children is such a joy and we had so much fun styling this lively and colourful kids bedroom. This room was very spacious and directly adjoined the master bedroom suite. So it made sense to style this room as a kids bedroom instead of recreating another similar styled master bedroom. The playful red, white and blue art work was our starting colour palette in creating this look. This room receives plenty of natural light and the white walls are the perfect ba...ckdrop for the bright red statement beds. Notice how the blue pant stripes in the wall art are the same colour as the striped blue cushions. The red throws are also striped and the tasseled cushions, coverlets and throws all help to create a fresh and cohesive look. If you still haven’t viewed the video, check it out to see the before and after pics and the workout we received to create this vibrant room. Happy viewing!!
20.01.2022 I recently styled this quaint house for sale and I could immediately tell that my lovely Clients had a love for Australian flora and fauna. This was evident in their stained glass windows, choice of art work and tile selections. But they also had a tranquil wall colour in a grey-blue undertone called Highgate by Dulux. So I selected the botanical motif art work for the living room from @meandmohomewares to create a fusion between a relaxed Australian country cottage and a coastal look. My Clients were so happy we could incorporate the features of their house into the final styling look for the living room. We have to admit that we’re pretty happy with it too

17.01.2022 COASTAL VIBES || When I arrived at this villa, it had been cleaned out by my Client as his father had sadly passed away. The house was mostly empty except for three pieces of furniture. This included a taupe and white striped sofa, a beautiful hand-made entertainment unit and a timber single bed frame. All were in great condition, so I used all these pieces in my styling installation. The existing sofa was typical of Hamptons style furniture and it was my starting cue to create the overall look for this property. Follow Serene Styling to see how we transformed this quaint cottage, into a bright and airy home with a relaxed coastal vibe. First stop, the Living room
17.01.2022 Well placed mirrors have the ability to elevate a room to another level. Mirrored reflections can make a room appear so much more spacious and bright as shown here in this Master bedroom styled by Serene Styling. TIP OF THE DAY || Remember to always consider what is on the other side of a room as a cluttered or messy space will become visible in the reflection of the mirror....

14.01.2022 I instantly fell in love with the floral design and colours of this stunning wall art that I just had to add it to my art inventory. This strong colour palette that I put together is definitely outside my comfort zone. But I’m so delighted with how these vibrant colours added life and freshness to this master bedroom.
14.01.2022 Finding Balance sounds like a simple plan for our overall health and well-being. But in reality, it can be a big struggle to find that healthy life balance for family, friends, work, sleep, diet, exercise, housework, hobbies, rest and relaxation. In Interiors, finding balance is key as it’s so easy to go overboard and not know when to stop. At Serene Styling, one of our favourite mottos is ‘Keep it Simple’. So go back to basics, declutter and choose pieces that you truly love and enjoy.

09.01.2022 SERENE STYLING SECRETS || My oldest brother recently noticed that my outfits were often reflective of my Serene Styling logo as I often like to wear shades of pink, grey, white, and taupe. From this photo and the colour palette I selected for this lux Master bedroom, I believe he just might be onto something.... So for those of you still struggling to figure out the overall look and style of your home, start with looking at your favourite pieces in your wardrobe. Look caref...ully at your go-to colours, styles and textures. Sometimes the best room inspirations for creating a certain look and colour palette can come from what you’re wearing and you may not even know it... If you are stuck and need help with styling your dream home, please direct message me and I’d love to help.... but we might just have to go through your wardrobe cupboard first
09.01.2022 When I was a child, whenever someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up, my top three answers never really changed. The standard responses were either a Ballerina, Interior Decorator or a Florist. As a Property Stylist, I get to dabble in my love for flowers as I adore creating beautiful floral arrangements for the houses I style. (Although I have to use faux flowers and plants as we can’t always get to all the houses we style and water them). And so my floral ar...rangements always look fresh and never wilt or die.. So I guess I’m lucky, as I’m living out two from three of my childhood dreams. So if you’re still wondering what to do when you grow up, just go back to your inner child and ask yourself that same question? It’s amazing that our childhood dreams and desires never really leave us. Hmmm... I wonder if my ballet shoes still fit me??
07.01.2022 My vision of the African inspired master bedroom came to life at our last styling installation. I combined a number of elements to create this look including the use of texture and earthy tones. This is evident in the woven cushions and the sand coloured throw. I also incorporated dark and light wood finishes to provide contrast between the dark timber bed frame and the bedside lamps. Wicker furniture was also used including the accent chair, woven decorative lamp and the corner basket. The tall green plant helps to soften the space and bring life to the room. Finally, the majestic zebras wall art complete the overall look to emphasise the glory and splendour of this great continent that is Africa.
07.01.2022 Me and my Serene Styling team really appreciate receiving glowing reviews like this... it makes us love what we do so much more!
06.01.2022 As a Property Stylist, I ensure that the rooms I transform are well balanced, elegant and pleasing to the eye. It’s not simply about filling a room with all ‘matching’ pieces and colours. Instead, stylists aim to create a look that is cohesive and works well together. We do this by layering a combination of furniture pieces and accessories with different textures and in a colour scheme that ‘complements’ each other (as seen here in this elegant media room I recently styled with my Serene Styling Team). So the next time someone says we have to ‘match’ something when styling a room, remember to remind them that you believe the appropriate term is ‘complement’... And you can mention that a stylist once told you that....
04.01.2022 Let’s Talk Dining Tables..... I am often happy to use my Client’s dining tables for partial styling jobs if the table is still in good condition. However, the same can’t be said for the matching dining chairs which are often in poor condition or just plain outdated. So to create a new and modern look, I like to bring in a whole new set of dining chairs. However, I am often met with fierce resistance from some Clients who can’t believe I would separate the matching chairs th...at came with the dining table. But here’s the thing, matching dining tables, chairs and buffets are no longer the easy answer to styling a dining room. It is actually more visually pleasing to introduce a variety of textures, colours and materials than to have everything be perfectly matching. For this dining room, I selected upholstered grey chairs with light oak legs to go with this light oak dining table. I once read that dining table and chairs should be sisters, not twins. So just like sisters, they may not look identical, but they still share many similar qualities. There are so many variables but I hope this helps the next time you are looking for your next dining table to go with its ‘sister’ chairs!!
02.01.2022 All stylists be it for interiors, food, floral or fashion are experts with the art of ‘zhooshing’. When you ‘zhoosh’ (also spelt jooj, zhuj, jujj or zhush) you are tweaking or improving the look of something to add finesse and to make it more attractive or exciting. So when you watch a stylist at work, just remember that their attention to detail and their slight obsession with ‘zhooshing’ is all part of the job description......
01.01.2022 This devine sailing wall art is my new favourite acquisition from @meandmohomewares. It is the hero piece of this room and my inspiration for creating a Summer vibe of sailing and sunsets by the sea. The nautical blue and white colour scheme brings a timeless and sophisticated elegance to this combined guest and study room.
01.01.2022 Styling table settings always puts a smile on my face....
