24.01.2022 The 2019/20 Federal Budget was released last night. Several changes were made which will affect many tax payers. The table shows how tax brackets will change. From 1 July, 2022 the Government will increase the upper threshold of the 19% personal income tax bracket to $45,000. From the 2025 financial year, the 32.5% marginal tax rate will be reduced to 30%. With the already legislated changes for the 2025 financial year this means the 30% income tax bracket will cover individuals earning between $45,000 and $200,000 with the current 37% tax bracket being abolished.

18.01.2022 Attached is link with a fact sheet for employers & employees on the Jobkeeper payments. https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/jobkeeper Yesterday, the Coronavirus Economic Response Package (Payments and Benefits) Bill 2020 was introduced and passed both Houses of Parliament. Unfortunately, it did not contain the finer detail of how the JobKeeper Payment Scheme (the Scheme) will operate.... What it did was set up a framework including giving the Treasurer the power to make Rules,by way of Legislative Instrument, as to how the Scheme will work. These Rules are not currently available. It is anticipated that the ATO will make this information available once Treasury has released the Rules. We believe this information is imminent and as soon as it is available, we will be working quickly to provide you with all the information you need.

17.01.2022 Whether youre an employee or run a business, keeping receipts can be problematic. Receipts can be misplaced, damaged or faded and make it difficult when it comes to tax time. Many options are available including scanning to an app e.g. Dropbox, having receipts sent via text/email or taking a picture on your phone. ... Generally receipts need to be kept for 5 years, having an electronic copy will allow the information to be readily available. The electronic files can be sent to your accountant at tax time. No need for shoeboxes full of receipts.
