24.01.2022 The way you report employment income is about to change. From Monday 7 December, you’ll report the gross amount you and your partner were paid during your reporting period. You’ll be able to find this amount on your payslip. You’ll still report the hours you worked as usual. But if you haven’t been paid during your reporting period, you won’t need to report any paid income, even if you worked some shifts during that period.... Your reporting date won’t change, only the way you report your income. Go to our website for more info: www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//way-you-report-your-employme

24.01.2022 If you’re eligible, you’ll get the third Economic Support Payment from next week. The $250 payment should arrive in your bank account by 14 December 2020. We’ll pay this automatically, you don’t need to do anything. Read more about the payment here: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//were-paying-more-eco

24.01.2022 If you’ve been getting a student payment, such as ABSTUDY, plus the Coronavirus Supplement, you need to think about tax. To avoid owing money to the Australian Taxation Office you can make voluntary tax deductions from your payment. This will mean you’ve got your tax bill covered if your income is over the threshold. You can set up and manage tax deductions yourself online or using the app. Find out how to have tax taken out of your student payment at www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//paying-tax-centrelink-/29651

23.01.2022 We've been sending Account Payable notices for Family Tax Benefit paid in the 2018-19 financial year. You'll get one if you haven't lodged your tax return or confirmed your family's income for that year. It's not too late to do it now. You and your partner, if you have one, can confirm your family income by either: lodging a tax return with the Australian Taxation Office... telling us if either of you don’t need to lodge one. 12.01.2022 From 5 December 2020, we’re making it easier for someone to deal with us on your behalf. If you have a Centrelink correspondence nominee, they can act on your behalf for both your Centrelink payments and services, and aged care costs. If this affects you, we’ll send you a letter explaining the changes in more detail. If you don’t get a letter, you can still change to the new arrangement. You can change or cancel your nominee arrangement at any time. Find more information on o...ur website: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//theres-change-centre See more

11.01.2022 We've seen a lot of questions about reporting gross income after December 7, and we'd like to clarify a few things for people who report. At the moment, you report your employment income as a gross amount, and you’ll still report it as a gross amount after 7 December. This isn’t changing. What's changing is that from December 7, you'll need to report the exact amount of gross income that you and your partner were paid by an employer, during your reporting period. This is the... gross amount before tax and other deductions on your payslips. This means soon you'll no longer need to do your own calculations and keep track of what you expect to be paid. You’ll simply report the hours you worked and the gross amount you’ve actually been paid.

01.01.2022 If you get Coronavirus Supplement, you may want to consider having tax deducted from your Centrelink payment. This payment is taxable, which means it counts toward your taxable income for the Australian Taxation Office. Lots of people are getting more taxable payments from us this year. Even if you’ve never had to pay tax before, this year might be a bit different. We don’t automatically take tax out for you, but you can easily set up deductions yourself using your Centrelin...k online account through myGov. More info about how this works: www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//paying-tax-centrelink-/29651 If you’re unsure about your tax obligations, please check with the Australian Taxation Office before setting up a deduction.
