16.01.2022 An important day yesterday for our unit. Beechworth SES now has 7 new active members who have completed their Crew Member Supervised training. The skills learned yesterday particularly casualty handling and the use of the Stokes Litter (stretcher) were used today! Three new members working with two experienced SES volunteers assisted Ambulance Victoria to move a 45 year old man from an accident scene in the bush to a waiting ambulance who was then taken by helicopter to a Melbourne hospital. A pretty dramatic welcome to active duty. Thanks to all involved. Especially Rhys our training officer. Congratulations to Isaac, Noah, and Lucas on completing your first SES Job and welcome to Chris, Louise, Lachlan and Richard to active status.

16.01.2022 From all of the Members of Beechworth VICSES have a safe and happy New Year. With the forecast thunderstorms for our region from tomorrow. SES advises Campers and Holiday Makers to be ‘Storm Ready’ this New Year’s Eve long weekend. The BOM have forecast possible thunderstorms bringing damaging wind gusts and/or heavy rainfall across most of Victoria on Thursday, possibly becoming severe across the parts of the Northern Country and North East weather districts.... With many Victorians heading to the region’s magnificent camping and holiday spots this New Year’s long weekend, SES urges everyone to be Storm Ready. To be Storm Ready, follow these two steps to storm safety: 1. Set up your campsite or caravan well away from trees and branches as they can fall unexpectedly. 2. Secure and tie down your camping gear ready for the forecast gusty winds and heavy rain. If you are camping or holidaying this long weekend, you should also: - Check the Vic Emergency app and local forecasts for any warnings or updates - Set a Watch Zone to include your camp location on the VicEmergency app so you receive any warnings. - If a flood warning is issued for your riverside campsite leave before the water starts to rise and move your camp to higher ground. - If your emergency is life threatening, call 000. - If you need help during a storm or flood emergency call SES on 132 500.

12.01.2022 Hi Beechworthians. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a high risk of way above average rains for the next few months. So over the next few weeks we will be preparing for flooding. While we are counting the sandbags and getting the tarps ready in the SES HQ we will also be getting some information out to you to help households prepare. When you see it have a quick read as it might save you or your property from damage or harm.

08.01.2022 Thank you to the Granite Cafe for donating a (retired) car that we can use for Road Crash Rescue practice. We really appreciate you reaching out and offering Neville. Sadly we can only promise we will treat him very badly...
