22.01.2022 A deep low-pressure system is travelling towards WA, bringing heavy rain and strong winds for nearly the whole of the west coast this Sunday! This is a rare... event for this time of year and it's due to the remnants of a tropical low tracking towards WA and interacting with a cold front, causing the low to deepen. The last time an event like this occurred was June 2012, which led to over 600 calls for assistance and over 170,000 homes losing power. Bureau of Meteorology has produced an animation to show the predicted track for the low-pressure system, which will determine areas predicted to cop the worst of the weather. Most storm damage is preventable, so it's important you start getting ready over the coming days by: - Tying down loose items (like those pesky trampolines) - Check your roof for any damaged tiles and clear your gutters - Pack away outdoor furniture and items that could be moved by winds - Trimming any branches near your house Keep up to date as the situation changes Find the latest alerts and warnings at https://bit.ly/2fU94Yo Keep an eye on the weather at https://bit.ly/2WRuj0x Find your local ABC Radio Station: https://ab.co/2XnaMnU When you need SES assistance after severe weather, call 132 500

17.01.2022 Severe Weather Update: Deep low pressure system to impact Western Australia this weekend. Video current at 12 pm AWST, Saturday 23 May 2020. Communities in west...ern parts of W.A. should prepare for an unusually widespread severe weather event along the west coast commencing around midday Sunday. Heavy rain and very gusty winds are likely with dangerous waves exceeding 8 meters and abnormal storm tides. While most areas will receive winds gusts to 100km/h, multiple low pressure systems are expected to form in the approaching trough. Winds near these centres will be especially severe with localised gusts to 130km/h possible. By Sunday night, severe weather will be confined to the south west of W.A. easing during Monday. Know your weather. Know your risk. For the latest WA weather forecasts and warnings visit http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/warnings/, and follow advice from emergency services. 10.01.2022 TROPICAL CYCLONE MANGGA A category one cyclone that has formed in the Indian Ocean is set to bring dangerous weather to WA, including Perth, from Sunday.... STORY: https://ab.co/2XhOow1 Tropical Cyclone Mangga will impact the Cocos Keeling Islands today before tracking towards WA. The Bureau of Meteorology said it was expected to weaken tomorrow as it continued to move south-east towards WA's north-west coast, and was "highly unlikely to be a tropical cyclone" come Sunday. However, BOM spokesman Neil Bennett said it was "an evolving and dynamic system" that would pack a punch on Sunday as it tracked down the west coast. "It'll produce severe weather, in terms of wind, some heavy rainfall in places and significant wave heights," he said. "We're looking at dangerous swells, severe weather warnings for the winds and possibly some heavy rainfall as well right up and down the west coast."
