21.01.2022 Heavy rain expected across Western NSW The New South Wales State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is asking residents in regional communities of Western NSW to prepare for potential serious weather in the coming days. Significantly cooler conditions are affecting the state today and will continue into Thursday in the wake of a cold front which recently crossed the region.... Zone Commander for the NSW SES Western Zone, David Monk, said a broad low-pressure system is forecast to deepen over South Australia and then slowly move across NSW from Thursday, bringing rain or showers and possible thunderstorms to most districts at the end of this week. Catchments across the Western area of NSW are wet from rainfall received over the previous fortnight, Mr Monk warned. This could increase the likelihood of flash flooding. With heavy rain forecast, Mr Monk encouraged residents to clean their gutters ahead of the expected falls, and with strong winds expected in some regions, he also urged people to secure items around their properties which could blow away, while also trimming branches which may be hanging over dwellings. Our local SES units will be on stand-by and will be ready to respond to community requests for assistance if needed, Mr Monk added. Mr Monk said we will continue to actively monitor the river systems that are likely to be affected. We will be issue flood bulletins to local media outlets in the coming days, in the event flooding is likely. In the event community members require assistance from the NSW SES, please call 132 500, or dial 000 if it is an emergency.

04.01.2022 #COVID19 Frequently asked questions Q: Can I visit my family/friends over the Easter break? A: In most cases, no. Public Health Orders have been introduced that... set out rules regarding staying at home and not gathering in groups of more than two people in public. The Orders state that anyone leaving their place of residence needs a reasonable excuse for doing so. Visiting family/friends over the Easter break to socialise is NOT a reasonable excuse. While we understand that Easter is traditionally a time spent with extended family and friends, these are unprecedented times. Unless you are providing care for a family member in another residence, stay at home. Try connecting with friends and family through other means such as over the phone or webcam.
