18.01.2022 Apply Now! https://www.ses.vic.gov.au//w/volunteer/become-a-volunteer As the BOM is predicting above average rainfall which can potentially result in flooding around the local community, we require additional members to join our team so if and when the time comes, we are prepared to support the local and border Dimboola community. ... Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) provides emergency assistance to thousands of Victorians every year. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organisation, and come from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds. Each of our volunteers receives accredited, recognised training as part of their role, ranging from first aid, general rescue, chainsaw operations, community education, media training and much more. You can read more about training on the Training for new Volunteers page. You will find our volunteers assisting their local communities throughout Victoria in rural, regional and metropolitan locations; on the front lines, in emergency planning and strategy centres, and providing education to help community members understand what to do when an emergency strikes. We have teachers working alongside electricians, retirees and university students. The diversity of our members is the key to our success. From floods, storms, search and rescue, road crash rescue and much more theres a position for everyone at VICSES, and anyone can make a valuable contribution. To volunteer for VICSES, all applicants first go through a selection and screening process to ensure they understand the role and can meet the time commitments required for training and performing volunteer duties.

13.01.2022 Thousands of loved ones are still with us because a brave bystander stepped in. Our friends at Ambulance Victoria have launched ‘Shocktober’ and asking all Vic...torians to learn CPR and find their nearest AED. This is especially important in small communities throughout the Wimmera/Mallee. We need you to take 1 minute and see how important CPR is and knowing where your closest AED is located. 12.01.2022 What a ripper day! And some nice clean vehicles

11.01.2022 Due to the nature of COVID-19, in recent times we’d taken a break from face-to-face skills maintenance and training to focus only on responding to emergencies. From this week, you might see us back out undertaking training in small groups to ensure we have the essential skills and capability required to respond to an emergency. Emergency services as a permitted industry are able to conduct critical training and exercising under the directions, as endorsed by the Victorian Chi...ef Health Officer. Our crews are following all the COVIDSafe principles, wearing masks and working hard to ensure we are there for our community. 05.01.2022 One of our 5 values at VICSES is focussed and adaptable - Covid-19 has certainly provided its challenges when it comes to us being able to train in a manner that all of our members are kept safe as possible, so we can continue to provide a service to the local and broader community of Dimboola. Last Sunday, we worked in a small group to support one of our newest members in getting through their General Rescue. Check out our future recruits demonstrating how important it is to social distance!

03.01.2022 Meet Dimboolas newest Dynamic Duo! Melissa: What was life like prior to joining the Dimboola Unit?... I served 5 years in the Army from 2009-2014. I was a driver in the Royal Australian Corps of Transport. I left the army to be a stay at home mum. What made you join the SES Dimboola Unit? I actually went through a bit of a rough time in life where I really needed to find myself again. Not just going through the motions of life but to actually make a difference in the lives of others. My husband (Daniel) had been an SES member for a few years so I knew how much I could do to help others if I also joined. What do you currently do for a living? I am a customer service officer at the Bendigo Bank. I also run my own Face Painting and Balloon Twisting business, along with being a mum to our 4, 5 & 6 year old kids (the future members of the Dimboola unit!). Daniel: Daniel completed 7years in the Australian Army until getting out in 2014. He was a store-man (logistics). Daniel joined SES in Bacchus marsh because he wanted to help the community and do something other than work and the general home life. Daniel was at the Bacchus Marsh unit for approximately 1.5years. Both Daniel & Melissa moved to Dimboola to endure the quiet country life and to raise their 3 children in a rural community, of which he then transferred to Dimboola SES. Daniel is part of the Road Crash Rescue response team to support the local and broader community of Dimboola. Daniel currently works at Blue Lake Milling as a forklift operator. We would love to expand our unit further, so if you would like to join us, please send a message to our Facebook page and we will be in touch!
