25.01.2022 Each year SES Volunteers are given the opportunity to nominate their peers that have gone above and beyond. During SES Week each region can present up to 10 of these awards. Congratulations to all these wonderful SES Volunteers.

25.01.2022 This is one of our Teams from Far Northern Region who traveled down at the beginning of the week to help out.

25.01.2022 Check out our SES volunteers in action at Suncorp Stadium Yesterday was an important day for our orange volunteer army, with Suncorp welcomed on-board as Prin...cipal Community Partner ahead of an expected busy storm season. We’re looking forward to working together to help Queenslanders! Our SES volunteers are ready and they want you to start preparing now, with our friends from Bureau of Meteorology predicting an increased likelihood of rainfall, flooding and cyclones this year.

24.01.2022 SES WEEK AWARDS Regional Operational Response of the Year: Coen SES Group In January 2020, the Coen SES Group provided outstanding support to the resident...s of Aurukun in Far North Queensland, in what has become the Regional Operational Response of the Year. SES volunteers supported displaced persons form the Aurukun community while they were temporarily housed in Coen and assisted with the distribution of resources. The Coen SES Group worked with the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Health to process relocated persons arriving in Coen, source food, clothing and other personal items. Local Controller Scott Templeton says the team went above and beyond in this response. How we all came together so quickly was very memorable. We rallied together really quickly and supplied what we could. It’s a great, reliable and helpful team. You can’t ask for better. It’s the team that pulls together when someone is in need. Thank you, team

21.01.2022 Cairns Unit Recruit Course Graduation 2020 A huge congratulations to the 27 new Cairns SES members that Graduated last night. It was a tough ask on the trainers and the recruits to continue their training with all the added Covid restrictions but they successfully got the new members fully trained and ready to respond in time for storm season. A great group photo of 24 graduating members last night with 3 unable to attend. 60 members in total were joined by family and frie...nds to celebrate. Thank you to everyone that assisted with the event setup to welcome our newest members into the team. We also had FNR Acting Assistant Commissioner Adam Gwin, LDMG Local Disaster Coordinator Justin Smith and Cairns Area Controller Sean McGuinness assist with the presentations.

19.01.2022 During SES Week each year, the Life Membership Award is presented to just a handful of SES Volunteers across the State as recognition of strong, outstanding individual commitment and special contribution to the service over an extended period. Normally limited to one award per region each year, this year two Far Northern Region members have been awarded our highest level of membership.

19.01.2022 Far Northern Region started SES Week off on Saturday with our annual award ceremony, this year held in Cairns. Awards were presented by QFES Regional Acting Assistant Commissioner Adam Gwin and SES Acting Assistant Commissioner Brian Cox

14.01.2022 Today I met over 100 of the most precious people - SES volunteers from across QLD, who're gearing up for the storm season that's just about to start. I was luck...y enough to be repping Craig Crawford MP, the Minister for Emergency Services, to announce a partnership between Suncorp and the SES. It's going to mean more money for awareness raising amongst the community about how to prepare for the season, but also funds for extra equipment and other supports for our SES volunteers. With all the work Suncorp does to support disaster victims - I couldn't think of a better partnership. Our SES volunteers put themselves on the line every single day for us, and spend huge amounts of time away from their family and friends in the process. It was an honour to meet them (and pretty special to catch up with some of the vollies from our own local group State Emergency Service - Eastern Group). #thankyou #heroes

14.01.2022 Another weekend and another FNR course with more great SES Volunteers preparing themselves to support their community.

13.01.2022 A big thanks to the Cairns volunteers responding to some jobs on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas to all

05.01.2022 12 SES Volunteers are currently on a Friday night flight back to Cairns after spending the week affecting temporary repairs to hail damaged properties in the South East. #thankyouSES

04.01.2022 Our Region's SES Vertical Rescue team out on a beautiful night in the Far North for one of their regular training events to ensure their skills are kept at the highest level.

03.01.2022 Storm Damage training is a key course that all SES Volunteers undertake to ensure we can support our communities with severe weather advice and response. This course at Edmonton is one of many activities undertaken across the Far Northern Region over the weekend.

03.01.2022 With the continuing response in South East Region, FNR SES members were requested to work in the FNR Regional HQ to assist with outstanding jobs recorded in our Task management system. A number of our members are unable to travel on deployment due to family and work commitments, but are still keen to help where they can. These tasks completed remotely yesterday are invaluable to those people on the ground and the incident management teams in the response area. SES FNR helping out QLD SES - Ipswich City State Emergency Service Unit however we can.

02.01.2022 You’ve no doubt seen the orange army out in force recently thanks to wild weather lashing parts of the state, but did you know it doesn’t just help out during s...torms and cyclones? SES volunteers are highly skilled and trained in a raft of capabilities to support the community. This morning, SES flood boat teams joined Queensland Police Service, QGAir Rescue 510 and the coastguard in the search for two missing people near False Cape (Cairns). The missing people were located Well done to all involved.
