21.01.2022 New Disaster Dashboard is one-stop shop for essential info during emergencies Residents and visitors in the Goondiwindi region can keep up to date with live inf...ormation about any road closures, power outages and river crossing heights in the region without needing to leave their home thanks to the launch of Goondiwindi Regional Council’s new ‘Disaster Dashboard’. The interactive dashboard is available on Council’s website and presents all available live information in one place, from sites like Queensland Transport and the Bureau of Meteorology. Residents will be able to see emergency news, road closures, river gauge heights, power outages, flood mapping, emergency contacts and any other disaster management arrangements currently in place. The project is funded by the State Government’s Get Ready Queensland Program delivered through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) which supports locally-led resilience building projects and activities across the state. Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Councillor Rick Kearney says the new dashboard would enable residents and visitors in the region to make informed decisions during times of disaster and extreme weather events. The Disaster Dashboard will show everything you want to know in one place, using the most up-to-date and reliable information available. During a disaster, I would encourage everyone in the Goondiwindi region to consider it as their first source of trustworthy information it’s a one-stop shop. It will help you to make informed, safe decisions about the situation at hand. Programs such as Get Ready Queensland provide invaluable support to local governments as they plan to keep their communities safe during disasters. To view the Disaster Dashboard, click the quick link on Council's home page or visit: http://dashboard.grc.qld.gov.au Don't fpoget your WHAT-IF Plan? 17.01.2022 We will be holding a Promotional day Saturday 21st March at Town Square near Medical Centre in Inglewood. Come on down check out what SES can do for you in times of disaster. Bring the kids down to meet Paddy the Mascot, he will make an appearance in Inglewood for the first time. Display from 8.30am - 11am, see you there

17.01.2022 NO SES GROUP IN THE SOUTH WEST REGION IS ENGAGING IN FUNDRAISING VIA THE INTERNET OR BY COLD CALLING. The scammers are continuing to targeting businesses in th...e Goondiwindi Regional Council area are evolving with their cold calling and emailing of local businesses. A male using the first name of Mark will normally ask the business owner/manager do they know Ann, James, (or the first name of the Group Leader for the town), if the answer is yes. The caller will then advise that the group leader told him to call the business to see if they would support the group by becoming involved in advertising or buying other items. If the business owner questions the caller, he has been stating that he will call Ann, to this date he never has.. Our Local Controllers, Group Leaders and their Deputies will not ask anyone to call you on their behalf, they will do it themselves and most likely come in person to speak to you. Any organisation that is undertaking fundraising on behalf of the various associations: - Will identify the organisation they are from and who they are calling on behalf of. -Will not say they are calling on behalf of the local group. -Will not say they are fundraising for the local group. If you are contacted by any person claiming to represent your local SES Group you are within your rights to ask questions and then decline to talk to the person any further until you have confirmed their identity. Call the Local SES to clarify your concerns. If you believe someone is trying to scam or have scammed you (you have paid money believing it was for the SES), or are making demands upon you to pay outstanding invoices that you believe are fraudulent, we encourage you to report it: Scams - https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/ Fraud (including demanding payment) - QPS https://www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting

17.01.2022 Merry Christmas everybody, stay safe and have a great day. Would like to thank all the volunteers for the time that they have put in over the last 12 months

17.01.2022 Be on your driveway Emergency Services doing a lap of town now

17.01.2022 It looks like the scammers are at it again, they have been contacting businesses in the Goondiwindi Area, claiming to represent the local SES Groups and asking ...for sponsorship in producing an SES financial year calendar. This time the callers have done their homework and know the names of the Local Controllers/Deputies and Group Leaders/Deputies and they have done some research about the local business and have asked for the owners by name. To be clear no SES Group across the South West Region is undertaking any fundraising involving calendar or raffle tickets. If in doubt, contact your local SES. What you need to know is SES Groups don’t phone up and: request sponsorship for your local groups to produce calendars, request you purchase raffle tickets to allow you local group to purchase new equipment; and request you pay outstanding invoices for last year’s calendar, that your business allegedly agreed to have advertisements/sponsorship in. Local Groups that may be undertaking fundraising will do so face-to-face and for most of our country towns you’re going to know your local volunteers in orange. If you believe someone is trying to scam or have scammed you (you have paid money believing it was for the SES), or are making demands upon you to pay outstanding invoices that you believe are fraudulent, we encourage you to report it: Scams - https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/ Fraud (including demanding payment) - QPS https://www.police.qld.gov.au/reporting SHARE THIS POST: Whilst it is Goondiwindi area currently, experience has shown they will spread out and start contacting businesses across the region.

15.01.2022 Our three-day lockdown doesn’t just apply to people who are in Greater Brisbane right now. If you’re somewhere else in the state but you’ve been in the relevant council areas since 2 January, we ask that you go into lockdown as well. We don’t stop the virus until we stop moving.

12.01.2022 Especially make sure trampolines are secured

10.01.2022 The $1000 board SES ran a couple of years ago, the profit was donated to Bob Bundy to take to Cambodia to go towards building a home for a worthy family. Bob an...d his team flew out last week and have this week built this home. Thank you to everybody who purchased a ticket to make this possible. See more

10.01.2022 Restrictions limiting ten people to a household will come into effect on the Darling Downs from 8am on Monday. It will include the following council areas: -... Toowoomba, Western Downs, Cherbourg, Goondiwindi, Southern Downs and South Burnett. Places with a COVID safe plan will not be affected by the restrictions. 09.01.2022 Just a reminder to the people of the Goondiwindi. At the moment businesses are being Solicited by a person to advertise on a calendar. PLEASE NOTE this person is not associated with GOONDIWINDI SES in any way nor IS IT SUPPORTED BY ANN or ERIC McGlashan. If you receive any information from this person, you are most welcome to forward it on to me. Regards Ann McGlashan By the way Mark (person making calls ) if you are reading this post, please call me I am waiting to talk to you

09.01.2022 There appears to be a person ring wanting Local Businesses in Goondiwindi to sponsor a calendar etc for the SES. Mentioned in the conversation is Ann & Eric McGlashan who run the SES. This person has done a very good job with their research but can I please warn people this has nothing to do with the Local Goondiwindi Regional SES nor do we benefit in any way from it. Can I please say DO NOT get yourself caught up in this unsolicited phone call
