23.01.2022 . NSW SES volunteers have responded to 41 flood rescues since Friday. We jumped on a raft with Fiona and Daniel as they attended flood rescues in the Shoalhaven earlier today.

22.01.2022 INJURED WALKER RESCUED FROM COASTAL TRACK A female walker slipped in a muddy section of the coastal track on the headland north of Easts Beach this afternoon. Injured and unable to walk from the scene, NSW SES volunteers worked with NSW Ambulance paramedics to lift the patient into a mule stretcher and she was transported to the nearest road, then taken to hospital for treatment.... #NSWSES (File photo)

22.01.2022 MAGPIE RESCUED FROM TREE This afternoon Kiama Unit volunteers were called to Werri Beach after a magpie was spotted stuck in a tree, entangled in fishing line. NSW SES volunteer Jake climbed the tree and freed the bird before it was gently lowered to the ground in a bag. The bird was treated by WIRES and we hope it makes a full recovery.

21.01.2022 PERSON RESCUED FROM WERRI BEACH NSW SES volunteers from Kiama carried a woman off the southern end of Werri Beach earlier today, after she slipped and fell on rocks. The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance and then carried off the beach by the NSW SES team.... #NSWSES

20.01.2022 STORM SEASON IS HERE It's storm season, and we're feeling it here in Kiama! NSW SES volunteers have responded to a number of calls for help in the local areas as damaging winds downed trees and lifted roofs.... We're set for a week of inclement weather so take the time now to clear blocked drains and gutters, secure loose items in your backyard and check your roof is in good repair. 20.01.2022 A 4WD IS NOT A BOAT MULTIPLE FLOOD RESCUES OVERNIGHT Overnight our flood rescue teams performed three rescues near Shoalhaven Heads as water levels on the Shoalhaven River continued to rise.... Several motorists were rescued from 4WD vehicles. In on situation, a man driving a van was so deep in floodwaters that it was flowing into the car through the window seals. When teams arrived, the man was on the windscreen awaiting rescue. In another rescue, teams paddled a four kilometre round trip in an inflatable rescue raft to rescue horses stuck in floodwaters. The Shoalhaven River has peaked but floodwaters are expected to remain high for several hours. Make safe decisions and never enter floodwaters. 17.01.2022 TWO MOTORISTS RESCUED ON SWAMP ROAD Early this morning NSW SES volunteers from Kiama were called to two vehicles stuck in floodwaters on Swamp Road. Flood rescue operators entered the floodwaters and accessed the vehicles. The drivers were rescued, and are safe and well. It's a timely reminder to never enter floodwaters. 14.01.2022 MOUNTAIN BIKER RESCUED FROM COASTAL TRACK Kiama Unit volunteers were called to the Kiama Coast Track this morning after a female mountain biker suffered an injury while riding. NSW SES volunteers and NSW Ambulance paramedics accessed the walking track through a nearby rural property and located the patient. After she was assessed and treated, she was loaded into a mule single wheeled stretcher and transported across rough terrain to a waiting ambulance.... #NSWSES

13.01.2022 KIAMA LENDS A HAND IN QUEENSLAND After giant hailstones left a trail of destruction through South East Queensland last weekend, teams from NSW SES travelled up to help with response efforts. Aapo, Karen and Chloe from Kiama Unit are working in Springfield, near Ipswich, undertaking emergency repairs to homes which have been severely damaged by hail. QLD SES received more than 3000 calls for help following the storm.... #NSWSES #StormSeason

09.01.2022 TEAM ON A HIGH IN IPSWICH Three volunteers from Kiama Unit have been busy supporting QLD SES over the last few days in Ipswich, following the recent hailstorm. Most of the work is up high, working on damaged roofs - tarping and replacing tiles. On some properties the entire roof is damaged and jobs can take hours to complete.... The team return back to Kiama tomorrow, prepared for whatever storms come our way this summer

07.01.2022 HEAVY RAIN IMPACTS KIAMA Significant heavy rain across Kiama, Gerringong and Jamberoo resulted in more than 55 calls for help to the NSW SES today. Most tasks related to property protection (sandbagging) and leaking roofs . Our flood rescue teams also responded to several property evacuations in Gerringong, and two vehicles stuck in floodwaters .... SUNDAY: Further rainfall and damaging winds are expected during the next 24 hours. Park vehicles undercover, put away loose items in your backyard and know your risk of flash flooding in your area. 06.01.2022 COWS RESCUED FROM FLOODWATERS NSW SES volunteers from Kiama rescued 6 cows from floodwaters south of Nowra this afternoon. The team accessed the property using a flood boat and moved the cattle to higher ground. Heavy rain continues to fall across the area. Never enter floodwaters. 05.01.2022 TWO PEOPLE RESCUED FROM SWAMP ROAD A tabletop truck was caught in rising floodwaters overnight on Swamp Road with the water up to the windows of the vehicle, and the occupants unable to drive out. NSW SES volunteers from Kiama responded to the scene shortly after 4am and used a raft to access the location. Both occupants of the vehicle were rescued safely.... 05.01.2022 TEENAGER RESCUED FROM COASTAL TRACK Kiama Unit volunteers were called to the Kiama Coastal Track between Kiama Heights and Werri Beach earlier this afternoon after a teenager required assistance. NSW SES volunteers supported NSW Ambulance to extricate the teenager off the track.... NSW Police Force

02.01.2022 Late last night volunteers from Kiama Unit were called to assist NSW Ambulance after a person had fallen over, injuring themselves in their house. NSW SES volunteers packaged the patient into a stretcher before they were carried down a set of stairs to a waiting ambulance. #NSWSES
