23.01.2022 Notification of Public Training Event TONIGHT Wednesday 22nd July 2020

23.01.2022 Today is International Men's Day 2020. For many men, just hanging out with mates and catching up on their news provides much needed support and connection, necessary for good mental health. But this year has been a particularly difficult year for all of us, with far too few opportunities to get together to catch up and connect. On top of that, many men are wired to keep their feelings to themselves, to just ‘get on with it’, ‘she’ll be right’. Men are told directly and indire...ctly, time after time, that talking about how they’re feeling is somehow weak or un-manly. This kind of thinking can be really harmful, not just for men themselves, but for the people around them, too. Just checking in and being there for your mates can make all the difference in terms of support when someone you know is struggling, and can make all the difference in terms of recovery from symptoms of a mental illness. A simple conversation can help make someone feel less alone, more connected and more supported. Sometimes all it takes to break down the barriers is for you to start the conversation with your mate and ask if they’re doing OK. Visit Beyond Blue for information and tips on starting the conversation with mates, it might be that one conversation that changes a life https://www.beyondblue.org.au/who-does-it-affect/men

13.01.2022 Today is International Youth Day (IYD), and WOW what an incredible bunch of youths do we have the pleasure to work alongside here at VICSES! The theme for IYD 2020 is Youth Engagement for Global Action, which seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels enriches our communities and our world. International Youth Day sheds light on the need to enable the engagement of youth by making local, national and global ...institutions more inclusive for the purpose of strengthening their capacity (and relevance) to achieve global action. Here at VICSES we run a fantastic variety of youth-centred programs and community engagement opportunities; from school visits to our fully qualified nationally recognised Youh Development Program. We are proud of each and every one of our Youth Members and the contributions they have made to our organisation and communities as a whole, and we cannot wait to see what they are capable of next. This is a positive message that aims to support Victorian communities to engage in conversations about ‘respect’ what respect means to us, what respect looks like and how to put respect into practice, especially in the context of gender equality. The call to action is again Respect Women: Call It Out and the campaign encourages people to ‘call it out’ when they witness disrespect, sexism, harassment and abusive behaviours drivers that can lead to violence against women.
