25.01.2022 Recently our Maths Dept staff put on 3 workshops for students who are joining us in Year 7 in 2021. We were thrilled to have over 90 students sign up to these workshops. It was a valuable way for them to become more familiar with Maths staff, our Year 11 leaders (who will be our Year 12 leaders in 2021) and of course to start making connections with each other. This was an initiative developed last year and it has proved to be enormously successful thanks Maths Team for the time you put into planning and running these sessions.

25.01.2022 Ms Ballantynes Year 7 McAuley Maths students have been having a great time with a clock design challenge - their brief was to be creative and to use as much Maths as they could. Well done to the winners of the challenge!

24.01.2022 Our ACC Aths Team represented us admirably at the Carnival this week. Great examples of teamwork, sportsmanship and quests for excellence made us very proud of their conduct. A special mention must go to our boys who placed 2nd overall - well done on your fantastic performance! Speaking of impressive results Deacon represented Seton as a part of the new ACC No Limits Program and set a number of new records - Javelin (15.01), Discus (13.92), 800m (2:59.68), 400m (1:22.25), 200m (35.72)... well-done Deacon! We had 3 students who finished 4th overall - Luke, Lauren and Mia; while Partick placed 2nd. Excellent work everyone!

24.01.2022 Wishing all our Seton Dads, Grandfathers and Father Figures a wonderful day! Seeing so many of you at the P & F breakfast on Friday was fantastic and we thank the P & F for organising an event that allowed us to celebrate the vital role men play in our families and community. We hold a special thought for those families who have important men in their lives that cant be with them today.

24.01.2022 Plenty of gorgeous little faces here; they are all excited to be a part of Setons 2015 Dance Showcase! Next week Setons 2020 Dance Showcase will highlight all the hard work Mrs Leece and the troupes have put in throughout the year - we cant wait to see what you have in store for us!

24.01.2022 Flashback to the ACC Athletics Carnival in 2010 and 2016! This Monday we will be cheering on our 2020 ACC Athletics Team who will head to the WA Athletics Stadium to compete against other associated and Catholic schools. Over the years a number of Seton students have set records that still stand, including ex-Di Vialar College student Claire Finucanes Discus throw which measured 36.78m in 1987! Records also still exist for Monica Ward in 2010 whose Shot Put throw measured in at 10.37m and Johnathan Clegwidden who jumped a whopping 2.02m in High Jump in 2016.

24.01.2022 Book Week saw all sorts of characters descend on the College this week - the staff at Seton love an excuse to dress up!

22.01.2022 To celebrate our 30th year as a school and to deepen the Colleges understanding of their namesake we threw a challenge to students to illustrate the story of St Elizabeth Ann Seton and contribute reflections on her life. The result is a stunning 40 page book of thoughtful letters and stunning artworks. Well done to the 25 students who contributed to this important piece that not only showcases St Elizabeth Setons life, but is also indicative of just some of the amazing talent we have at Seton.

22.01.2022 As the weather is warming up what better way is there to spend a family night under the stars, enjoying a comedy and a picnic? Seton's P&F warmly invites all Seton families to a free screening of 'Bill and Ted Face the Music' at Murdoch Community Cinemas on Wednesday 2nd December. Doors open at 6.30pm and the movie starts at 7.45pm. The reviewer's consensus on the widely acclaimed Rotten Tomatoes review site is that this film is "as wholesomely goofy as its heroes, 'Bill and Ted Face the Music' is a rare long-belated sequel that largely recaptures the franchise's original charm." There are limited tickets so get in fast to avoid disappointment. Bookings close 27 November unless sold out. Please register via the following link: www.eventbrite.com.au/e/setons-pf-family-outdoor-movies-tic

20.01.2022 We love it when the important men in our students lives visit our campus for the annual P & F Fathers Day Breakfast. It was a great morning again this year - captured by our 2020 Media Captain, Shannon, and our Media Captain for 2021, Jake. We had an army of enthusiastic students, parents and staff cooking and serving on the day, all coordinated by our P & F. Well done to everyone involved... and thank you to our dads, grandads and father figures!

20.01.2022 Catch up on all the Seton news this weekend in Newsletter #10 for 2020. https://sway.office.com/hOKGyX8961bNn2OI?ref=Link

20.01.2022 We are always delighted when our Workplace Learning Program facilitates partnerships between current students and Alumni. Recently Mrs Hackett and Mrs Amato dropped in to see Year 11 student Cassidy who is doing her work placement with Red Lips Media which is owned by Jessica Roberts - ne Peccia (Class of 1998). Weve included a photo of Jessicas 1997 PCG back when she was also in Year 11.

20.01.2022 Last week our Senior Girls Soccer team competed in the ACC Championships and won the South division Grand Final. The girls will now compete against the northern competition winners, Lake Joondalup Baptist College on September 9. Congratulations girls - fantastic results!

20.01.2022 Apoua Stewart from @aspirehealthcoaching has been working with our 11 students on mindfulness and being more aware of the habits that drive us. As a part of RUOK? Day 271 students took part in a quiz and a prize draw; five students were the lucky recipients of a ERIC (Engaging.Repetition.Ignites.Clarity) journal.

20.01.2022 A highly anticipated Year 12 tradition at Seton is the Year 12 procession that opens our Inter-House Athletics Carnival every year. We love seeing what the Year 12s divise for costumes!

19.01.2022 Tonights delve into the past takes us to the Class of 2015s Leadership camp which was inspired by our recent catch up with Emma Pelliccione (Class of 2015 / Ward House Captain) who was visiting the College at the Careers Expo as a part of her role working as the Future Student Officer at Murdoch University. Post Seton Emma studied a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Strategic Communication, Tourism and Events. We wonder where life has taken the other members of this graduating group?

19.01.2022 Skateboarding with Skateboarding WA was just one of the opportunities presented to the Year 10 students at the recent Year 10 Future Experience Camp. We had a chance to catch up with the boys during their lesson. It was impressive how quickly those who had not skated before caught on to the basics. This demonstrated to the students how perseverance has its rewards and how new skills can be acquired with some determination. We look forward to sharing some photos of the girls later in the week.

18.01.2022 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone so its even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. Tomorrow is RUOK? Day; our Year 11 students and Mrs Grgurich have been working together to promote a greater understanding of how to communicate about mental health issues with those around us. You dont have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. Knowing what to say can help someone feel supported and get help long before theyre in crisis, which can make a really positive difference. Learn what to say after RUOK? 18.01.2022 30th Anniversary Week

16.01.2022 It was all smiles today at the Mackillop BBQ Lunch where the green team celebrated winning the House Championship Cup for 2020. Well done Mackillop!

14.01.2022 Our Year 9s are now on holidays after finishing the year with their annual Camp. The staff were so impressed with the students who were absolute troopers despite the temperature clocking in at 41 degrees. A little heat wasn't going to stop them giving activities a go! Enjoy your holidays Year 9s - you have earnt them!

13.01.2022 It's definitely getting festive at Seton! Here is a little glimpse into some of the MacKillop Pastoral Care Group Rooms where they have taken Christmas Decorating to a new level. Nice work MacKillop!

13.01.2022 Recently hospitals have been begging for donations of personal protection equipment to protect their staff. Rotary Australia kindly donated fabrics to help with this cause and our Certificate II in Community Service class has made 100 skull caps for hospitals in Perth and Melbourne. These were created over several weeks with a variety of skills learnt along the way. Another 20 skull caps were also made for the staff at a local nursing home. Skull caps are used so staff do not have to wash their hair after every shift. Well done to our Cert II Community Service students - you have provided a valuable resource to help improve hygiene through the pandemic.

13.01.2022 Our Media Captain, Shannon popped in to take some photos and see how Chess Club was progressing this week. Chess Club, run by Mr Grinceri, takes place during lunchtime 4 days a week and sees 15 students from Year 7 to 12 compete against one another in informal games. Last week the students participated in an interschool tournament online and placed 3rd in the secondary category with Mikey, Isaac, Joel, Jad and Jasmine being our top students in the tournament. Well done to our Chess Team for competing in this eventful and challenging day!

12.01.2022 Our 30th year as a school was recognised this week in a Mass that celebrated our College community with our patron Saint Elizabeth Seton as our guide, patron and help. Students and staff reflected on our journey over the past thirty years and were urged to look forward to the future with faith, hope and love. As always, Mass is an important way for the College to gather together as a school family with a common purpose. This year, in focusing on the life of our Patron Saint, we presented the students who worked on the St Elizabeth Seton 30th Anniverasy Book with a certificate of recognition and prizes. We look forward to presenting each student in the school with this publication as a keepsake.

12.01.2022 Congratulations to our students who represented Seton at the ACC Inclusion Athletics Carnival last week. We were thrilled to see them bring home the Sue Bigelow Spirit Award for 2020. Their excitement was palpable and it was heartwarming to see so many of our students come out of class to clap them off the bus with a heroes welcome! Well done Team Seton!

11.01.2022 In seems that plasticine is loved by students from Kindergarten right the way through to Year 12! Human Biology ATAR students have been studying Human reproduction and are making models of embryogenesis in order to map the journey of the developing embryo along the uterine tube towards the uterine cavity.

09.01.2022 Rewind to 2016! We love this photo of students as it is so full of joy and exuberance. It's also nice to see student faces without masks on . We look forward to returning to a mask-less state next week!

08.01.2022 Are you, or someone you know, a dynamic and creative Dance Teacher? Seton is inviting applications for a Dance Teacher, commencing on 1 January 2021 for 12 months. Our students enjoy active participation in Dance as performers and choreographers with courses that promote well-being and social inclusion. Through entering the Performing Arts Festival for Catholic Schools & Colleges, attending workshops with artists, performing at events and assemblies as well as commiting themselves to full-scale productions our students enjoy in-depth training and involvement in Dance. Applications close 10am, Monday 21 September, 2020. For more information and an application form please go to seton.wa.edu.au/employment-vacancies.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Dr Alistair White who joins Mr Owen Neal in being accepted into the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert program! Through this program Dr White and Mr Neal can network with teachers across Australia and also and share their work with other educators from around the state. Last year Mr Owen presented for Microsoft in Sydney as well as at various Microsoft Edumeets. Seton staff are lucky to have the expertise of these two teachers who have facilitated and ins...pired many innovative lessons around the College and also drove the online learning that took place earlier in 2020. The journey we are headed on as a College has many ties with the Education Transformation Framework which has leading and current research at its foundations. We count ourselves lucky as there arent many schools in the state with two Innovator Educator Experts on staff. See more

07.01.2022 The highly anticipated Student Vs Staff sports saw some high energy, questionable play and good-natured banter on the court and field. The staff took out Basketball and Soccer, but students were triumphant in Netball (only just!) Activities such as these help to build effective and long-lasting relationships between students and staff which are the basis of our culture at Seton. The importance of student/ teacher rapport is a cornerstone of our pastoral care at the College and considered vital for effective learning in the classroom.

07.01.2022 Seton House Athletics Carnival was met with a colourful, energetic and loud celebration of House spirit which resulted in a great day all around. Well done to the Physical Education Department for organising such a smooth and well organised carnival and thank you to our students who gave it their best, as they always do. It was a tightly contested competition with the different Houses leading the tally at several different points during the day, but in the end the carnival belonged to Marion House. Well done Marion - a fine performance!

07.01.2022 Excitement is mounting for tonights Dance Showcase. Due to the pandemic we have had to limit tickets, but have just released another small batch... get in quickly if you would like to attend! Tickets can be secured through www.trybooking.com/BIZCU

06.01.2022 Robin Hood A Royal Feast had its debut last night, the first of 3 nights of shows to sold out audiences. If you havent seen the show yet you are in for a real treat gauging on the opening performance. The Arts Department and Year 11 students have worked tirelessly to bring this amazing show together. A big shout out to the Consumer Science students as well, who under the watchful eye of Mrs Neal, served a three course meal to audiences to enjoy during the show. We look forward to sharing more photos soon.

06.01.2022 Our Lego Masters Integrated Program activity challenged students to build a scene from a movie in under and hour. There was no idle moment and plenty of team work at play during a frenetic hour of building. This activity, while being fun, also calls on students to put their skills of problem solving, communication, creativity and compromise into practice. Well done for being so cool under pressure Lego Master Teams!

05.01.2022 Students have taken to board games this week as a part of their Integrated Program rotation. Good old fashioned board games are great for practicing higher level strategic thinking, problem solving, decision making and of course patience. We hope our students had fun with some of the old favourite games as well as ones they hadn't tried before!

04.01.2022 Year 7s have been chalking the sidewalk! In Wellbeing classes they have been learning that contributing to other peoples positivity helps to boost their own sense of purpose and self-worth. They know there are several residents in the surrounding streets who walk these paths so they spent some time brightening their exercise routes. We hope the walkers enjoy the Year 7s dose of Spring colour!

03.01.2022 Some of our Year 7s stepped out to have a closer look at Seton's new building which is on track to be completed by March 2021. It's taking shape and is going to be a stunning new entrance to the College. Keep an eye on Facebook for a peak inside soon!

03.01.2022 Friday saw our Year 12s receive their Leavers jackets and Seton staff devised a mischievous way of distributing them. Donning the jackets staff wandered around the campus, taught their classes and had their recess coffee out in the sunshine while Year 12s had to dash around to find which staff member had their jacket on. Some staff didn't want to give the jackets up without a bit of a chase or some hide and seek! Thanks to the Year 7s who joined in on the fun at recess by also wearing a jacket. We are not sure who enjoyed the fun more - the students or the staff!

02.01.2022 The Year 10 Future Experience camp has seen students undertake a variety of activities aimed to open their eyes to the post-school world. The first two days have been jam packed with visits to universities and a tour of Civmec Construction and Engineering, as well as Surf Skiing, rope climbing courses and team sports activities. Students also heard motivational speeches from Matthew Pavlich and Shannon Eagland and were able to quiz them about their career pathways. The final day of camp will have Year 10s spend time on the Leeuwin Sail Training Ship and also with Skateboard WA. We'll be sharing these experiences soon as the students are sure to enjoy them.

02.01.2022 Today our students marked Ash Wednesday with House Liturgies which signalled the start of Lent, a time of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. During Lent, Christians the world over decide to give up something up that they love - chocolate and social media are a common thread. Others might decide to take something up, like giving time to someone who needs it or showing more gratitude at home. These acts of sacrifice encourage us to look outside ourselves and to the needs of others. Well done to our students who approached today in a thoughtful and reflective manner, embodying our College Motto "Seek Christ".

01.01.2022 Five minutes with Mr Galea - Physical Education Teacher & Head of Marion House What do you love about teaching your subject? The thing that draws the most fulfilment is when I am able to teach a new skill to a student and then they have the moment where they understand. I also really enjoy the relationships I am able to develop at a Pastoral level with both staff and students.... What made you get into teaching? I have always enjoyed sport in general and also had a very good relationship with some of the teachers I had when I was a student. These people became my role models and I aspired to be like them. What is your most favourite place in the world and why? My favourite place in the world would be part of my heritage - Malta. It is a small country in the Mediterranean to the south east of Sicily. The lifestyle there is very laid back and a significant portion of my family are there. It is always nice place to visit no matter the time of the year and it has a very rich tradition. There is something to see for people of all ages. What is your favourite movie and why? My favourite movie is The Shawshank Redemption- it is a great movie that stands a test of time and has a wide variety of themes attached to the movie.

01.01.2022 Every Seton Day the students take part in our Fun Run tradition. Both staff and students take to the course, some choosing to challenge themselves to do it in the fastest time possible, and others taking a more leisurely pace. Students enjoyed this part of the day before heading off to year group outings - such as Beach Volleyball and Futsal, Rollerskating, Ice Skating, Ten Pin Bowling and Mini Golf.

01.01.2022 Year 7s have just stared their new rotation of taster classes. Over the year students have the opportunity to rotate through 9 courses in Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Media Production, Foods, Digital Communications, Study Skills, Wellness and the Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum. This rotation allows them to try new things, develop passions they never knew they had and start the processes of moving slowly towards specialist subjects in Year 11 and 12. This Year 7 class hopped straight into drawing frogs and it is clear that we have some talented developing visual artists on our hands. Well done Year 7s - it was a pleasure to see you working today!

01.01.2022 Year 11 Dance students have been busy preparing auditions for Junior and Senior Troupes and also assisting Mrs Leece with the selection process. Next year these students will choreograph and lead a troupe as part of their final unit in the Certificate III course. We are so proud of the way our students meet the responsibilities of this course - rehearsing with their troupes a minimum of an hour before school right up until showtime in September. The leadership skills that the...y develop in leading a troupe will be carried with them beyond school into any future career they choose. Through interpersonal interaction they develop self-awareness, an understanding of group dynamics, a greater understanding of how to communicate clearly and effectively and an ability to plan and achieve a team goal. We look forward to seeing the fruits of all our dancers hard work in September 2021! See more
