25.01.2022 Good morning, I hope all our families are managing to keep warm, Ive seriously considered moving to Darwin. It seems the older I get the colder winter is. Dates to remember 6/7/2020 Vacation Care begins 21/06/2020 last day to book to avoid the casual fee.... 22/06/2020 the day we cap our vacancies allowing only limited casual bookings. Stay safe, keep warm

25.01.2022 DONT JUST UNENROL YOUR CHILDREN FROM THEIR EARLY EDUCATION AND CARE CENTRES (THIS INCLUDES OSHC) PLEASE !! There is so much uncertainty in the world at the moment and so many people are losing their jobs, please dont add your childs educators to that list.... I am NOT saying you should send them if you dont feel comfortable. What I am saying is DONT UNENROL THEM. Talk to your centre first. There are a number of things in place from the government to help families and to stop centres from going bankrupt but these measures are only helpful if the children STAY ENROLLED. Firstly, if you or your partner has lost their job or had your wages cut, you can go on to your mygov page and apply for temporary financial hardship. This means that the government will pay your childcare fees in FULL for 13 weeks. The government has also committed to paying the CCS portion of the fees in the event that the centres do go in to lock down. What this means for centres is that we can keep paying our educators, our rent, etc etc etc. It means that at the end of all of this, there will be centres to send your children to. I implore you, please speak to your centre director and Family Day Care Educator. Find out your options, BEFORE just pulling your children out. It will make the world of difference to our sector. To all my friends, can you please share this as much as possible

24.01.2022 Today I had the opportunity to purchase 30 500ml bottles of hand sanitizer. We have enough at OSHC but I thought many of our families may be struggling to purchase any. I decided to get them and offer them to you, our OSHC families. You can see from the receipt that I paid $16.50 per bottle and Im offering them to you for the cost price or whatever you think is a fair price, if you cant afford the cost price. Please see Sheree, Curtis or myself if you want a bottle (sorry only 1 per family at this stage)

24.01.2022 Dear Families, GOOD NEWS Hopefully this is the beginning of the new normal for us.... We are finally permitted to allow our parents/caregivers to enter the OSHC building when dropping off and collecting children. For your safety the sign in/out Ipad will be sterilised regularly during each session. We ask that you please use the steriliser located at the front door before entering and upon leaving. Pupil Free Day this Friday, we have limited places left so if you haven't booked in you may have left it too late. Children are encouraged to wear their favourite footy team colours in honour of the prelim finals and Port Power playing Friday night. All children need to bring a packed recess, lunch and drink bottle. DON'T FORGET YOUR HAT TOO Looking forward to seeing you all. Jan Hutchison Director Settlers Farm OSHC Ph: 8280 8108 or 0401 711 061

23.01.2022 Urgent Up-date for April Vacation Care Dear Families, As you would all be aware, the Caronavirus is impacting on businesses, sporting events, gatherings and the general publics daily life.... Noting the rapidly changing environment and public health concerns, it has been necessary to cancel all excursions for the upcoming April School holidays and any upcoming PFDs. This difficult decision was made to limit the amount of interaction between children in OSHC and other large groups and members of the general public. These excursions will be replaced with in-days at our site. A reminder that if you need or want to cancel days that you had booked in for, this must be made before 5pm, Sunday 29th March. Cancellations after this date will incur your normal fee. The CCS will be deducted from the full fee and recorded as an absent day. Note: Normally children are approved up to 42 subsidised absence days per financial year for absences, however the Australian Government has announced there will not be a limit (uncapped) to the number of absence days approved this financial year. Families will be required to provide us with a letter from their doctor explaining why they are taking extended absences. In addition the Federal Government has approved funding for temporary financial hardship (ACCS) this means you can keep your bookings in place and the government will cover up to 120 percent of the CCS hourly rate cap. In most cases, the full cost of child care will be covered. It can be assessed for up to 13 weeks and eligible families are entitled up to 100 hours of subsidised child care per fortnight. Families will be required to provide supporting evidence of a substantial reduction in their ability to pay child care fees, such as an email from their employer. We are expecting to experience significant workforce shortages in the coming weeks and months (as many workplaces are expecting). This will potentially impact on our ability to accept casual bookings as we may need to cap our numbers from time to time. We therefore would recommend families keep their regular bookings and add new bookings (if we have vacancies) as early as possible to confirm your place. The above ACCS will provide families with the peace of mind to minimise OSHC fees during this time. Please note that should we be closed for any reason, families will not be charged for impacted sessions. In keeping with advice from the Australian Government, we encourage anyone who is feeling unwell to stay home. If your child/ren attend OSHC and they are clearly unwell, you will be called to collect them immediately. We appreciate your co-operation during this time Stay safe Settlers Farm OSHC Management

15.01.2022 Hi my name is Shania Davis. For those who may not know me, I am one of the qualified educators at OSHC. During these uncertain times we realise that many of our students and others now have limited ability to keep in contact with many of our elderly community members that may be in nursing homes or self-isolation. With this in mind, Settlers Farm OSHC has reached out to Resthaven Aged Cared to begin a Pen Pal program with their residents. Westbourne Park would love to take pa...rt in this initiative. We would like to get this started ASAP. Resthaven had the idea of sending photos with the letters so recipients both students and residents know who their letters are coming from and going to. We understand that some parents have opted for their students to not be photographed and we respect this. If you would like your child(ren) to be part of this and are happy for their photos to be sent with their letter could you please let us know. You can contact me via email [email protected] We look forward to seeing this initiative unfold

11.01.2022 Dear Families, Well its that time again when we begin preparations for the next vacation care program and finalise things for term 4. Now that restrictions have been lifted a little we have decided to bring back excursions for the Sept/Oct holidays, this program will be released on the 21st August. One of the activities we have planned is our annual garage sale. We are asking that families donate any unwanted games, books, toys in clean working order so we can sell on the d...ay. All items will be sold for $2.00 per item or children are encouraged to haggle for a better deal. On the day there will also be lots of games and food items for sale including popcorn, fruit boxes, chocolate toss and lucky dips. All money raised will go to a charity of the childrens choice. So get your kids busy cleaning their rooms, DONT CHUCK, IT DONATE IT. All donated goods must be here by Friday September 11th Please note OSHC have made the decision not to welcome parents and caregivers into our building just yet, we are waiting to see what the Education dept are advising and will follow their guidelines. Please remember to walk your child to the front door and when collecting you just need to ring the doorbell located on the front door. A staff member will greet you and radio for your child/ren to return. Thank you all for your continued support during these incredibly unprecedented times we find ourselves in. 09.01.2022 Settlers Farm OSHC would like to thank the Settlers community and local businesses (Plush Group and V hotels) for their kind gestures and donations during this time. Our team appreciate your kindness.

08.01.2022 To All our families, You may have noticed some measures that we have introduced over the last few weeks at OSHC to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. These include: An educator signing children in and out of care. Circles on the lounge floor where children can sit.... Children being encouraged to wash their hands on arrival from school/ home, prior to eating and after using the playground. The playground being washed with soapy water twice a day. Hand sanitiser being readily available for both children and staff. Breakfast being served with only 5-6 children at the table, at a time. We have been approved extra space until term 2 begins ( Homestead middle space) this will be used for children to watch movies and or play boardgames. Higher staff to children ratio to allow for additional areas to be open and children to have room to practice social distancing. Excursions and incursions have been cancelled for the upcoming holidays and PFDs. Children will not be assisting with serving snacks. Some of these measures will continue after this is over and we hope the necessary ones will become embedded in our practice. As most of you are aware some food products are still difficult to source so we are asking families to pack recess and lunches on all days. It is also important that you pack a hat and drink bottle each day. On the days that we have indicated we will provide a lunch, we will make every attempt to provide that menu, subject to food availability. We will revisit these measures, access policy and booking capacity over the coming months and will keep you informed of any changes. Thank you as always, for your support and kind words and gifts we have received over the last few weeks. We value our Settlers Farm community and look forward to everything returning to normal, as soon as is possible. Stay safe and see you soon :) Cheers, Jan
