25.01.2022 As we did last year, Sew For Good is off on holiday - this time to Africa Being a small business, when we take a break we don't have anyone to cover posting out orders so we really appreciate your patience if you happen to order during this time. Well be away from the 16th of July until the 26th of August. During this time you can of course still purchase online however orders will be posted out as soon as possible after the 26th of August.... If you're thinking of ordering soon then you still have until the 15th to get your order in

25.01.2022 Now this is a sample set - one of everything please! Off to someone making the most of their extra time at home and also making the tough call on what thread they want to use most. #stayathome #sewing #organic #sewforgood

24.01.2022 Thanks so much for your amazing purchase and support and the comment on cost - organic doesn’t need to be more expensive and we work hard to make it affordable Repost @dearetheldesigns... So, I decided it was finally time to invest in a full set of threads, and after much research, I came across these beautiful, 100% organic cotton threads from @sewforgood, on a wooden spool no less. In my journey as an artist and maker, I strive to find sustainable and ethical materials to create with, in order to fully embrace my ideals, values and ethos. I don't always succeed, but I try my best. I also strive to support small business' like myself as much as I can, especially during these strange times we all find ourselves in. This is my gift to me after many many years of love and dedication to my sewing practice. And they are just as cheap (if not cheaper), metre for metre, as most ordinary threads found in spotlight or the likes! Thank you so much @sewforgood, I was super excited to receive my package in the post today, and only 2 days after ordering no less! #sewforgood #organiccottonthread #organic

24.01.2022 #Repost Common Objective Polyester only took over from cotton as the world's leading fibre in 2002, but now accounts for 65% of fibre used in all clothing today. In 2015 more than 330 million barrels of oil were used to make polyester and other synthetic textiles - the equivalent of more than 21,000 Olympic swimming pools. ... . . . Polyester is often the choice for long lasting thread and clothing with the misconception that it will last longer than cotton and is stronger - feedback I receive is how strong our organic cotton thread is for general stitching as well as overlocking - The other problem is many clothes end up in landfill before the garment breaks down so not only does polyester use more resources to be produced but will take years longer to break down than natural materials. I love using natural fabrics and always struggle to understand when you have a beautifully handmade item of clothing using natural fabrics why youd want to finish it with plastic #areyoureallyplasticfree #zerowaste #plasticfree #sustainable #ecofriendly #sewforgood

23.01.2022 Good things take time - definitely the case in making this lovely shirt for my very patient husband! This beautiful fabric is GOTS certified which means the flax is grown organically, the production is sustainable, and the fabric is made under fair labour conditions. We have a small amount listed on our website and if youre like me and would like to see it before you buy, we also have samples available Thanks to Arrow Mountain for your amazing buttons! They look fantasti...c and they really standout on the white #sewforgood #gotscertified

15.01.2022 Think buying organic is expensive? It doesnt have to be. With Sew For Good our goal is to make it affordable by not marking up to traditional standards. Comparing other options from the big players our 275m GOTS certified organic thread not only comes in cheaper per metre but with the beautiful wooden spools and small box theyre shipped to us in means theyre plastic free. ... The following examples are from major retailers advertising 100m non organic cotton at $2.99, meaning metre for metre this would be $8.22 for 275m and from another $8 for just 250m. #plasticfree #buyorganic #sewforgood #organicsewing @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Already have a limited amount of GOTS Linen on Sew For Good and honestly its the best. My husband has already used flattery to request a Linen shirt #sewforgood #plasticfree @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

04.01.2022 The plan for Sew For Good has always been to not only supply our Certified Organic Cotton thread but other sustainable and quality sewing products so theres no need to shop around various stores - first up in addition to our thread were now stocking Tulip needles and pins. Tulip has been making needles in Hiroshima, Japan since 1950 and the focus is on a quality product so they last longer. The packaging also has no soft plastic which I love. Selection of needles and pins on the website now #sewforgood #sewingaustralia #organiccottonthread #tulip #tulipjapanneedles #tulipjapan #sewingaustralia #sustainablesewing @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
