14.01.2022 I’m really excited to be knitting myself a garment! I have knitted myself two jumpers in my life but not for over 20 years (wow am I really that old?). I’m really pleased with how quickly this one is coming along. I found a vintage pattern in my Mum’s stash and decided to add some stripes to the front for some excitement...changing colours spurs me on to knit just one more row...The big balls of wool are from @bendigowoollenmills that I purchased second hand from a work colle...ague and the pink and mustard are random eight plys from my wool stash. I’ve already finished the back so once the front is finished just two sleeves to go! A much slower process than sewing but a great one to pick up and work on when time allows...especially while the kids are home and I’m helping them with their school work. 12.01.2022 Who else loves stripes? I made this Lucia dress for Juliette last week from some thrifted striped knit I have had in my stash for a few years. I love how it turned out and it’s always fun to play with stripe direction like I did with the ruffle. Thank you to everyone who has purchased the #luciapattern so far! 07.01.2022 Okay, so for a lady who loves to design dresses, a sad day comes when you accept that your oldest daughter no longer really enjoys wearing dresses For this reason, a dress pattern is more appealing if it also offers a top version! Phew! Isabella loves her new Lucia top which features a peplum frill and scooped back. The weather is fining up here in south west Vic and she can wear it with shorts. I recycled a striped women’s nightie for this top and had to run the peplum w...ith the stripes going vertically due to fabric shortage. I like when limitations force you to make decisions you might not usually make. I think the different stripe direction works well! Thank you soooooo much to everyone who has purchased Lucia so far! 01.01.2022 This month is #sustainableseptember . I love trying to incorporate thrifted fabrics into my fabric stash and visit our local @salvosstores weekly. Sometimes I find great fabric pieces and sometimes I repurpose garments. Isabella spotted a size 14 dress on our op shop visit yesterday and loved the colour. Swipe to see. She asked for a cropped T-shirt. I used the #sorellapattern and reduced the hemline by 5cm and added 10cm to the extended sleeve. I used the same fabric for the... neckband. Sewing time was around twenty minutes with my overlocker sewing the four seams and a double needle on my regular machine for the hems! She loves it! There is a piece leftover which will go into my suitcase or knit remnants for another project.
