23.01.2022 Hello again. After a long hiatus from social posting I now have a ridiculous backlog of epic boards to share! So if you will allow me to indulge as I dig back thru the archives, I would like to share my work over the last few months... This one was a particular personal milestone - a true test for me to foray into a realm beyond my day to day. However, I had been taking notice of the subtleties of longboard style, and it seemed to show, as this thing came out way beyond all e...xpectations. Eddo was and still is frothing over it. From what I can see from his clips it’s working for him really well. I feel like a proud parent Eddo opted for the Yater Apocalypse fin by True Ames. 21.01.2022 Making this one was a liberating experience. In the shaping process, to visualise each side of a board independently of the other (yet still both sides completely relating to the other) is a totally new thing for me, and I felt my neurones opening up into new pathways, new alchemy, new beginnings. 14.01.2022 Another milestone from late last year. This long twin fin glider for @timhume.hume was an extra special build. It has everything you’d ever want , deep channels, pigment resin with cutlaps, a resinswirl foam stain panel under the glass, a polished deck and rails, and a solid cedar stringer. This is a new outline that I pieced together from a whole bunch of previous templates, and it really feels like the curves are singing a sweet tune. Tim has been sending me great feedback! 05.01.2022 In production factories it is most common to set fin plugs post-glass for tints and cut laps, as it is easier to get a clean look in high volume. This is because setting the plugs first can end up with the tint looking very messy, unless you know a few tricks. It’s also because the fins are usually set by a different worker to the laminator. Nothing wrong with this, but when it comes to quality nothing beats the continuity of one craftsperson doing the full build, provided th...ey are skilled across all stages of the process. And I would say these all-rounders are pretty rare. I have known and worked alongside a few, and learned something from all of them. 05.01.2022 Prototype Wolfpack oh boy I had the sickest two surfs on this thing it felt like an extension of my mind what a sweeeet feeling a wonderful combination of glide and drive and loose freedom there were plenty of kooky moments as I explored the character of the shape but some truely great secrets hidden in these curves I can’t wait until this coming swell to hopefully test it out in some solid waves I made it for bigger canvases but it went unreal in 1-2 ft and 3 ft so far, oh b...oy oh boy oh boy I wonder how it will go as a quad felt great as a Twinny it’s a bit wide for my shoulders and now I have a sore neck haha I reckon it will be perfect for a slightly bigger surfer but I’m so excited about this thing I can’t let it go just yet hahaha we’ll see I’ll lend it to you if you promise to treat it real nice like and to give me some honest feedback for the development of the model ok if you’re still reading this well done it’s a strange place to be in public but who needs punctuation anyway our streams of consciousness don’t use sentences or maybe that’s just me I dunno I’ve been way to busy to post what I’ve been up to but I have a lot of material waiting to be shared with ya’ll thanks for coming and good evening, have a great weekend peace . . #handshaped #surfboard #starttofinish #twinfin #triplanehull #streamofconsciousness See more
