20.01.2022 JDC 2021 Congratulations to our U15s on their win. Commiserations to our U13s. Great work by all three teams. You’ve done us proud

20.01.2022 2 SDCA Teams into JCW Grand Finals After a number of lean years, round 3 has usually marked the conclusion of Junior Country Week for SDCA players, but not 2021 (see better year already), with both the U13’s and U15’s making their respective Grand Finals. U13... The SDCA U13 winning formula just keeps working, today with a strong win over Cricket Shepparton. Today’s middle order maestro’s were Rory Kennedy (42*) and Jade Brown with an even time 41. Zac Osmond(3/20) topped the bowlers again to complete an 80 run victory, and to finish with a perfect 3 from 3. The boys will go into the Grand Final full of confidence, but will meet a Bendigo side equally keen to hang on to their own perfect winning record. Best of luck to Dave McBean and the boys, and we are sure they would love any additional support for their clash at Pyalong. U15 The U15 side went into today’s clash with Shepparton needing the win to assure their spot in the Grand Final. In tough, windy conditions at Broadford, we lost some early wickets, but captain and vice captain, Tom Archibald(19) and Ollie Munro(35) put on a steadying middle order stand to guide the team through to a defendable 134. Despite some catching yips, the bowlers persisted well, before a hat-trick from Xavier Arandt(3/8) put the game in SDCA control, and they boys ran out 59run victors. Tomorrow, Mark Manchester’s team will be keen to reverse Tuesday’s result against an undefeated Bendigo at Tallarook, and would also value any additional support you can send their way Good Luck boys. U17 The SDCA U17 squad travelled to Bamawm to take on Goulburn Murray in search of their first win for the week, but sadly in difficult conditions had a day to forget. In the first match, Goulburn Murray amassed 4/131 of their 20 overs, with Leo Halford-Molinaro(3/15) being the shining light. Jacob Burke(44) excelled in the run chase, but couldn’t find a batting partner to stay with him, and we ended with a familiar looking 8/71. The second game, the bowlers shared the spoils, this time capturing all 10 Goulburn Murray wickets, but 9/89 in response, was quite enough to beat 136. A huge congratulations to coach Callum Partridge and his team, with many boys getting their first ever taste of 20/20 match-play, and we hope they enjoyed the experience, and are keen for more. Great Job guys! Most grounds across the Association are hosting Grand Finals tomorrow, and we thank all groundskeepers for their work in what has been a tough week weather-wise, but for those of you who can, please get along and support our incredible U13 and U15 squads, as they battle to be the first ever victors of JCW(in it’s current format) for the SDCA, so please get down to support the boys if you can. As always, a huge thanks to all volunteer coaches, umpires and scorers who are helping make the week happen, but a special thanks to this year’s SDCA JCW sponsors, Seymour & Kilmore Toyota, TBA Law, and Mach1 Logistics.
