24.01.2022 Here are photos of a remarkable project by Karen Cane. Santa's sleigh and six boomers. In Karen's own words "I have always wanted to create an Australian Christmas theme. My new career in Wellbeing allows me to follow that idea. My aim was to make a pleasant environment for the residents living with dementia. They could relate to kangaroos and what better time to do this than at Christmas time with Santa. The project is on wheels and is 2.4 metres long and 1 metre high. Kathy Prestegar and myself had a lot o fun completing the picture. I hope to make many more to add to the first Christmas in Australia billboard." Great work Karen & Kathy.

21.01.2022 At this stage, the extended Victorian COVID restrictions and Opening Up Stages have put paid to our Society having another face to face meeting for this year. We will keep in touch via this page, the website and newsletters and hope that we can have an exciting new year in 2021. If you have any news to share please email me at [email protected]. Best wishes to all, stay safe and keep creating!!

21.01.2022 It is with heavy hearts, that we announce that our beautiful friend and longtime SFDAV member, Judy Cairnduff passed away this morning. Judy loved our Society and was always one of the first to volunteer for any job. She worked at the Stitches & Craft Show, was a long time coordinator of the memory box program, Folklore Editor, workshop tutor & committee member. Condolences to the Cairnduff family and RIP Judy. You will be sadly missed.

20.01.2022 Looking through my photos and got side tracked as you do. Though it would be good to share our high tea in 2011. Stay sane everone. Face book has added names not me.

18.01.2022 Just sharing Denise Illingworth's finished Art Deco or is it Art Nouveau project? Stunning work, as always, Denise. You're a legend!!

18.01.2022 Denise Illingworth has been busy again, this time designing Christmas placemats and a wreath for her 3 year old great grandson, Jay. Denise describes herself as a Gaga Great Granny!! I think Jay will be very happy with the results of her efforts.

18.01.2022 I'm very envious of artists that can do a 'perfect' dot!!!

16.01.2022 In memory of our dear friend Judy Cairnduff, who passed away last week on 5 May 2020, we are sharing a small sample of her beautiful work. We will miss you Judy.

15.01.2022 Hi everyone, well it goes without saying that we have lockdown in Victoria extended for at least another six weeks from 2nd August, so SFDAV meetings and workshops won't be happening in that time. In the meantime we will keep in touch via Folklore, the website and Facebook. Stay safe and keep creating.

14.01.2022 Here are some lovely photos from Robyn Hickman, taken at a bakery in Diranbandi. Beautiful work.

13.01.2022 Well, there you go people. We are in lockdown in metropolitan Melbourne for another six weeks. Use that time productively and get into all those UFO's. We will keep in touch via the website, Facebook, Folklore & fliers. Wish I could say something more uplifting!!! Stay safe and keep painting.

11.01.2022 Hi everyone, have attached photos of what I have been busy painting. I put these on my personal Facebook page. I am actually posting to let you know that we have filled out the required COVID plan paperwork for Knox Council. Now we just have to wait to find out when we can next meet at H.V. Jones Hall. As soon as we hear, we will send an email to all members

11.01.2022 We have just received an email from long time member and artist "par excellence" Denise Illingworth, who, because of Covid restrictions, is unable to visit her husband in care at the moment, so she is keeping herself busy painting. Here is some of Denise's lovely work. It was so good to hear from you Denise and hopefully we will catch up with you when restrictions are lifted.

10.01.2022 Lots of fun had by all at our AGM and Christmas breakup yesterday, the first time the society has been able to meet at H V Jones Hall since February. We are so looking forward to a much better 2021 with lots of exciting workshops and guest speakers.

09.01.2022 Would love to post some photos of what members are working on at the moment. Please email them to me and I will put them on Facebook and the website. Stay happy & safe everybody.

06.01.2022 We have just been advised by RASV that the 2020 Royal Melbourne Show has been cancelled due to COVID-19. As many sponsors, exhibitors and competitors spend months preparing for the show, the RASV decided it was best to make this decision now. They are looking at the possibility of an online, virtual show experience, but are also looking forward to a bigger and better Show in 2021.

04.01.2022 One of our Facebook friends, Linda Agnew, is selling some of her pre-loved folk art books, as pictured. Please contact Linda direct if you are interested. Her mobile is 0425 237 170. Hope everyone is as well and happy as possible in these trying times, especially in Victoria. Keep smiling, keep painting!
