24.01.2022 One of the most epic and hard rides on our SFIDA Swiss trip is when we climb the Passos San Bernardino, Splügen and Maloja. It is a succession of amazing landscapes, numerous switchbacks and incredible road engineering like the tunnels down Passo della Spluga into Italy. Ride data: 125km 3,740m of climbing. Passo San Bernardino 2,065m.... 49km from Bellinzona 1,887m. Climbing Splügen pass 2,113m. 9km from Splügen. 680m. Climbing Worth me rooming the 30km descent into the Italian town of Chiavenna, it has all what is needed for an unforgettable descent, lake views, 50+ switchbacks, incredible tunnels and recently new tarmac. In the canton of Valais, near Sion, this giant and isolated climb has all what you can expect: switchbacks, amazing scenery including a glacier, tunnels with gravel...only SFIDA Cycling takes you so far off the beaten track. 22.01.2022 Col de la Bonette is the highest pass in Europe at 2,802m. During our epic SFIDA Southern France trip we climbed this spectacular mountain from Jaussiers. Here is some data: 23 Km long. 1,600m of climbing.... 6.8% average gradient. Surprisingly the Tour de France has only passed through La Bonette four times, but even more surprising in that the Giro d’Italia has been through this summit once! 13.01.2022 Colle del Nivolet, in the Italian region of Piemonte has to be one of the most spectacular climbs in the Alps. Starting in Locana, it is a long way to the summit, along the way are amazing landscapes including a steep and narrow section, 30+ hairpins, the Serru reservoir (where the stage 13 of the Giro 2019 finished), and finally, the most epic final 5km you can imagine. 09.01.2022 We all love Bormio...definitely one of the best cycling spots in Italy. At the foot of giants like the Stelvio or the Gavia and with the Mortirolo nearby, the riding options are endless. In June 2019, I tried a new loop that I had in mind for a while. So together with Gordon and Phillip, trusted and approved SFIDA Cycling clients, we start our ride towards Tirano, down the valley . Then we turned right and started the climb up to Forcola di Livigno pass, a 34km climb! Followe...d by the shorter Passo d’Eira and Passo del Foscagno before an epic 25km descent back to Bormio. Some data: Ride 128km and 2,760m of elevation. Forcola di Livigno 2,315m. 34km from Tirano. 1,910m altitude gain. 5,5% average gradient 13% maximum. Passo d’Eira 2,210m. 6,5 km from Livigno. 07.01.2022 La Marmotte GF is usually held on the first Saturday of July. My first Marmotte was in 1991, it was the 10th edition and I was 22 years old. We usually do this loop in anticlockwise direction, starting with a pleasant descent to Wassen and climb in this order: the Susten, Grimsel and Furka passes, this last one includes the famous Belvedere hotel switchback, a very popular picture. 03.01.2022 The Cevennes region in France is one of our favorites for amazing riding. As part of our SFIDA Southern France trip, we spend the first three days exploring the endless riding options, including the scenic Gorges du Tarn area. Quiet and narrow roads combined with the usually sweet gradients of the French climbs, makes this region a cyclist paradise.
