24.01.2022 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I will begin this day. I thank you, Lord, for having preserved me during the night. I will do my best to make all I do today pleasing to You and in accordance with Your will. My dear mother Mary, watch over me this day. My Guardian Angel, take care of me. St. Joseph and all you saints of God, pray for me. O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, and for all the poor souls in purgatory. Amen.

23.01.2022 An Arthritic's Prayer to St Alphonsus Liguori St Alphonsus, preacher, confessor, founder, bishop, Doctor of prayer and friend of the poor, you are also the special patron of all who suffer from arthritis and the pains of many years. + When our fingers twist with pain, keep us focused on the hands of Christ, pierced with ugly nails. + When our knees knob with endless aches, allow us to see the knees of Jesus smashing into the ground beneath the weight of His heavy Cross.... + When our backs stiffen with soreness, let us remember the back of Christ, cruelly scourged and thrown across the rough wood of the Cross. + When our joints, our hips, arms, legs and knuckles hurt so much that tears well up in our eyes, help us to recall the tears, the sweat and the blood that flowed from our crucified Jesus who suffered so much for each one of us. St Aphonsus, afflicted with curvature of the spine and nailed to a wheelchair cross in your final years, teach us to unite all our dreadful pains with the dreadful sufferings of Jesus on the Cross. We ask you to ease our pains, but more so to enable us to be one with Jesus in His great act of dying and rising, Amen.

17.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you to Fr Thu, Fr Aloysious, and Fr Paul who celebrated many Christmas Masses, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to celebrate the Birth of Our Lord in the Holy Mass. Thank you to the many volunteers who assisted at each Mass. God bless you all. Glory to God in the highest!... My precious Lord, Jesus, I adore You with profound love and rejoice in the celebration of Your birth. Your love for us is unfathomable, it is glorious transforming, awe-inspiring, and deeply personal. You chose to come and dwell among us, being born into poverty, rejection and humility. Yet Your mother knew whom she bore, Her heart was filled with the tenderest love as she adored her Child and her God. Help me, dear Lord, to come to love You with the heart of Your mother. Invite me to adore You with St. Joseph and the poor shepherds. Reveal to me the glorious power of Your birth and change my life on account of this perfect gift of Yourself. I love You, dear Lord Jesus. Help me to love You with all my heart. Newborn Savior of the World, I trust in You. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, Pray for me and for all. Amen.

08.01.2022 Today we honour, "the Little Flower", St Therese of Lisieux, on her feast day. St Therese reminds us that you don’t have to be spectacular to be a saint through... her call to serve God in simple ways which could involve confronting our personal vices or putting up with irritations or being misunderstood and offering these as flowers to God. Her faith journey was no doubt inspired by her parents, Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, who were also canonised in 2015. May St Therese continue to inspire us through her Little way in our daily lives. St Therese of Lisieux, pray for us!

03.01.2022 ASH WEDNESDAY - 17 February 2021 Mass times today 9am and 7.30pm LENTEN PENANCE EXPLAINED. ... THE Church’s Canon law reaffirms the obligation to do penance to interrupt the usual comforts of life, to rediscover in prayer the saving love of God, and to practice charity and justice towards those in need. During Lent and on the Fridays of the year, we do penance, not only on our own account, but also in the name of the Church and of the world. We must take seriously our penitential obligations and be sure to carry them out. The Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference has not restricted our penance to fast and abstinence in all cases, it has left room for our own responsible choices. We should carefully select the form of penance that we consider most appropriate for our own circumstances and growth in the Christian life. DAYS OF PENANCE 1. Abstinence from meat, and fasting, are to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. All who have completed their 18th year and have not yet begun their 60th year are bound to fast. All who have completed their 14th year are bound to abstain. 2. On all other Fridays of the year including the Fridays of Lent, the law of the common practice of penance is fulfilled by performing any one of the following: (a) prayer for example, Mass attendance; family prayer; a visit to a church or chapel; reading the Bible; making the Stations of the Cross; praying the Rosary. (b) self-denial for example, not eating meat; not eating sweets or dessert; giving up entertainment to spend time with the family; limiting food and drink so as to give to the poor of one’s own country. (c) helping others for example, special attention to someone who is poor, sick, elderly, lonely or overburdened. Lent lasts from Ash Wednesday to the Mass of the Lord’s Supper exclusive. On Good Friday and, if possible, also on Holy Saturday until the Easter Vigil, the Easter fast is observed. PASCHAL PRECEPT Each of the faithful is obliged to receive Holy Communion at least once a year. This is to be done between Ash Wednesday, and Trinity Sunday, unless for a good reason it is done at another time during the year. All the faithful are obliged to confess their grave sins at least once a year. *This is an edited version of a statement provided by Catholic Communications, Archdiocese of Sydney.
